Title: Do Payday Advances Hurt the Working Poor?
Topic: Payday Loans
Discussed by Daniel Press
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
Part 1 of 2
Many Americans live paycheck to paycheck. When their car needs repairs, or their child is sick in the hospital and they cannot work, they often fall behind on their bills. Sometimes a payday
advance seems like the only option available. But, are they worth the price?
Daniel Press is a Policy Analyst at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, where he focuses on financial regulation, international development, and trade.
Questions/Issues Discussed:
What is a payday advance?
How many Americans per year take advantage of payday advances?
How many states have payday advance stores?
FACT: There are 20,000 payday advance stores in America. This is more than the number of McDonald’s and Starbucks stores combined.
Are there some advantages to payday advances?
Why is the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau focusing on eliminating payday
advances? NOTE: The head of this Bureau is Elizabeth Warren, if that gives you an idea…

Title: Courts Being Used for EPA Agenda
Topic: Environmental Issues
Discussed by Chris Horner
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
Our “do-nothing” Congress does nothing to stop environmentalists. How do the radicals get their agenda passed, though? Chris Horner is a Senior Legal Fellow with the
Competitive Enterprise Institute. He has some answers for us today about the environmentalist’s incessant badgering on Congress.
Questions/Issues Discussed:
Has the Republican-controlled Congress been unwilling to rein in radical environmentalists? Listen as Chris discusses the “one shot legislation” tactic.
How have the radical environmentalists been using the Federal Courts?
Is there evidence of an increase in deaths among senior citizens in countries where access to reliable energy is limited and outrageously high?
Chris Horner also shares some disturbing information about the Paris Treaty and Obama… You don’t want to miss it. Listen in!
Are some radical environmentalists recruiting state and local officials to pick up their cause and sue in Federal Courts?
What evidence do left-leaning government officials have to substantiate their claims that energy companies have known for decades that their products cause global warming and are causing significant impact on the Earth’s climate and sea levels?
How can average citizens stop this abuse of the system?

Title: Polluted Logic Harming Children Worldwide
Topic: World Health Organization
Discussed by Angela Logomasini
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
Part 1 of 2
The world has been getting wealthier in recent decades. That economic growth has enabled millions of people around the globe to rise out of poverty. However, the World Health Organization (WHO) seems determined to leave children behind all for the sake being politically correct.
Angela Logomasini is a Senior Fellow in Environmental Risk, Regulation, and Consumer Freedom at the
Competitive Enterprise Institute. In addition to her work with CEI, Angela manages Safe Chemical Policy and is a Senior Fellow at Independent Women’s Forum.
Questions/Issues Discussed:
Has economic growth supported by free market policies helped people around the world to improve their health and their quality of life?
WHO recently released two reports indicating that pollution kills 1.7 million children per year. Is the problem pollution or poverty? Listen as Angela reveals how WHO and other environmentalists word their reports to make it appear pollution is the culprit.
How does clean water play a factor in this issue?
Do fossil fuels really a have a negative effect on people’s health?

Title: Is the Paris Climate Agreement a Treaty?
Topic: Environmental Issues
Discussed by Chris Horner
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
Rep. Kevin Cramer’s op-ed “Remake
the Paris Deal to Promote U.S. Energy” contains
no provision for renegotiation. Unless President Trump
keeps his promise to cancel US participation in this treaty, we will always have
Paris.
Chris Horner is with the Energy and Environment Legal Institute. Listen
in as he reveals more about Rep. Cramer’s op-ed and what the Paris Climate
Agreements means for America.
Questions/Issues Discussed:
Is the Paris Climate Agreement a “treaty”?
Have any past Presidents ever entered into an agreement like the Paris Climate
Agreement?
Must treaties negotiated by the President of the United States, or his
surrogates, be ratified by 2/3rds of the US Senators?
Did President Obama submit the Paris Agreement to the US Senate for
ratification?
How much time does President Trump have to act on this issue?
President Trump has some advisers who do not want him to axe the Paris
Agreement. By sending the treaty to the US Senate for ratification, wouldn’t
this give him cover with his beloved family members?
If President Trump sends the Paris Agreement to the US Senate, are there enough
votes for ratification? Listen as Chris discusses the Senate votes from various

Title: FDA Attacking Your Condiments Again
Topic: Food and Drug Administration
Discussed by Michelle Minton
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
The Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) recently submitted
comments to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) opposing plans to
pressure food makers to significantly lower sodium content in commercially
processed, packaged, and prepared foods.
Listen in as new guest Michelle Minton explains why CEI has taken this position.
Questions/Issues Discussed:
Is the FDA plan to set dietary sodium limits in manufactured food good or bad overall for consumers?
Instead of pressuring people to make a drastic change in how much salt they consume, should the emphasis be on educating people about improving the quality of their overall diet and how that can improve health and lower hypertension risk?
I know this seems silly, but it really is a legitimate question: If someone buys manufactured food and it is not salty enough, will the government then monitor their table salt purchases?
Would diabetics be placing themselves at a higher risk of dying sooner rather than later? If so, how?
I thought liberal progressives supported personal choice…

Title: The Morality and Virtues of Capitalism and the Firm
Topic: Capitalism
Discussed by Fred Smith, Jr.

Does capitalism need defending?
What is the “Great Enrichment (or Enhancement)” from the 1750’s? What happened
when the government got involved?
Is the American civil justice system important to capitalism?
What are some of the morals and virtues of capitalism?

Title: Climate Change Deniers Being Investigated
Topic: Jail Climate Change Deniers
Discussed by Dr. Marlo Lewis
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
For more than two decades, climate action groups have knowingly misled the public about the perils of putting an energy-starved planet on an energy diet. Aren’t they guilty of knowingly misleading the public about a clear and present danger, thereby robbing innocent people of their lives and livelihoods?
Dr. Marlo Lewis, Ph.D. is a Senior Fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, writing on global warming, energy policy, and public policy issues. We’ve done interviews with other experts recently on the topic of “Jail Climate Change Deniers”. Click here and search on Topic "Jail Climate Change Deniers"
Dr. Lewis explains the RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupted Organizations Act) investigation, led by Dr. Jagadish Shukla and Dr. Ed Maibach, both professors at George Mason University. He also reveals the desire of seventeen state Attorney Generals who have banned together to investigate climate change “deniers”. These two entities are comparing people and organizations who spread the “real truth” about climate change (or lack thereof) to the Mafia and those who participate in organized crime. This is just ludicrous!
“We have more to fear from their agenda than we have to fear from climate change itself,” Dr. Lewis declares. Listen in as he discusses the hidden agenda of these professors, the seventeen AG’s, and the EPA.

Title: Climate Change Deniers Fighting Back
Topic: Jail Climate Change Deniers
Discussed by Sam Kazman
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
The Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) is being sued by Claude Walker, the Attorney General of the Virgin Islands.
This is strange enough, but when you hear the reason why, your blood will boil! If you doubt that Christianity is being attacked, then hopefully this interview will open your eyes. The group of seventeen Attorney Generals (sixteen Democrats, one Independent and fifteen from US states and two from territories) call themselves the Attorney Generals United for Clean Power.
Sam Kazman is General Counsel for CEI. He is with us today to discuss the case they are involved in concerning this issue. The environmentalists want to squash any debate or disagreement with their theory of “climate change”. In his opinion, Al Gore is the real celebrity cheerleader behind the entire effort to silence CEI and others from revealing the truth to the masses.
What if the AG’s are successful in the effort to suppress the First Amendment? Who will the losers be? Sam says, “Everyone who values free speech and anyone who can use affordable and reliable energy will lose as well.” Any person who dares to disagree with their global warming agenda is a threat and must be stopped.
Why is CEI fighting back against the Al Gore bullies? Why not just give the AG’s the information they want and be done with it? Sam believes that if
CEI gives in, it paves the way for more and more lawsuits in the future against companies and organizations which dare to question the government’s plan for halting all use of fossil fuels.

Title: President Obama Wants $1.8 billion for Zika Virus
Topic: Zika Virus
Discussed by Angela Logomasini
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
President Obama wants $1.8 Billion to fight the Zika virus. Will any of that
money be used to kill babies?
New guest, Angela Logomasini, is with the Environmental Risk, Regulation, and
Consumer Freedom Department within the Competitive Enterprise Institute. She
also manages Safe Chemical Policy http://www.safechemicalpolicy.org/ and is a
Senior Fellow at Independent Women’s Forum. We do like to have
our experts on the show, you know!
First, Angela Logomasini explains what the Zika virus is for those that might be
unfamiliar with the details. “For most people, it is short-term and temporary.
The concern is about it being connected with brain damage in infants in Brazil,”
she says. One point she brings up is the lack of pesticide use due to
environmentalists’ screaming about its “harmful side effects”.
Is the pandemic scare really necessary, though? Angela uses the term
“vector-borne” to describe how the Zika virus is spread, similar to Malaria and
Dengue and even West Nile and Lyme disease. It refers to any disease transmitted
by bugs, usually mosquitoes. In third-world countries, the effects of
vector-borne diseases can be catastrophic. Even here in America, the problems
are not adequately addressed, she believes.
Listen in as Angela Logomasini discusses the Zika virus further, how it is
transmitted, short-term and long-term effects, and what we can expect to see in
the coming months. One thing Angela recommends is more use of mosquito nets,
insect repellant, and education around the world; aborting babies is not the
answer. For more on the Zika virus and other similar issues, check out

Title: The Freedom of Information Act and the Law
Topic: Freedom of Information Act
Discussed by Ryan Radia
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
Ryan Radia is the Associate Director of Technology Studies at the
Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI). His area of expertise focuses on adapting law and public policy to the unique challenges of the information age. His research at the Competitive Enterprise Institute include intellectual property, information privacy, telecommunications, cybersecurity, competition policy, media regulation, and Internet freedom. Ryan is definitely the man to ask concerning the latest Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) debacle.
The FOIA was enacted in 1966, in an era far different than today. “FOIA was designed to allow the public, media, and watchdog groups get information about what their government is doing,” Ryan explains. There are some exceptions to the law, but most is public information. Sometimes people use FOIA as a “fishing expedition”. Ryan also explains that not every email or piece of information has to be disclosed, even if they are requested. A perfect example of an exception is information pertaining to national security.
The story we are discussing today is about a government employee who knowingly and admittedly used his own private computer, email, and server for official government business. No, we’re not talking about Hillary Clinton. The government employee we are referring to is Dr. John Holdren, who has directed the White House’s
Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) since early 2009. Dr. Holdren is part of the office which advises the President on science and technology issues, from global warming to how to handle the internet. Dr. Holdren even advises on coal plant usage and the XL Pipeline.
Ryan Radia discusses why CEI is pursuing the information requested from Dr. Holdren and why they believe the FOIA does not protect his emails from his private computer, email, and server. There are, of course, a lot of similarities in this case compared to Hillary Clinton’s case. Ryan explains that one difference, however, is “Hillary didn’t even have an official state account!” Dr. Holder was using BOTH accounts to conduct official government business.

Title: Railway Revival
Topic: Railway Revival
Discussed by Marc Scribner
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
In the late 19th Century, railroads were the best way to travel and
sent large amount of goods across the country. They also created
the first interstate commerce act and business was booming. Less than a century
later, however, they were on the verge of extinction due to the government’s
involvement with strict regulations. No one saw the collapse coming and many
railroad systems went bankrupt. In the 1980’s, though, the railroad industry
bounced back on its own.
Businesses today can certainly learn a lesson or two from the downfall of the
railroad industry. Listen in as Marc Scribner explains how the railroads changed
their future and what executives can do today to help their companies based upon
their plans. “One thing business leaders need to recognize is that this
appeasement strategy and they fatalistic mindset is not in their long-run
interest.” They must take a stand against government interference; it never
ends well if you don’t fight back.

Title: Redefining the Word “Employee”
Topic: Redefining Employees
Discussed by Trey Kovacs
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
Just when we thought Obama was done messing with the American
people, he comes up with a new one. This time, he’s going after
contract hires and employees of small businesses. No, this isn’t about
Obamacare. This is actually about his desire to completely redefine the word “employee”.
People who work for small businesses and franchises are the back-bone of the
workforce. There are millions of Americans who are classified as “contract
employees”. Trey Kovacs, a policy analyst with the Competitive
Enterprise Institute, warns, “We shouldn’t be hampering this part of
the economy with more regulations.”
The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has three Democrat and two Republican
committee members appointed by Obama. These five members of the NLRB recently
changed what the joint-employer liability entails. “We are going to see a
lot of down-sizing. They are not going to open more franchises, which will not
allow for more job openings,” Trey says. This is important information that
everyone should pay attention to, even if you are not directly involved, because
this is a blatant push to form more unions across America. Listen in as Trey
explains the details and why everyone should be concerned.

Title: The Feds want your Retirement Money
Topic: Feds and Your Money
Discussed by John Berlau
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
I can’t make this stuff up people! This is not a fake story! This is true and it is happening!
If you are sick and tired of the government being all up in your business, then you are really going to hate this! The Feds want to tell you where, when, and how much of your retirement money you can invest. Yes, you read that correctly! And, no, you are not stupid like the Feds say!
The Department of Labor (DOL) has proposed a rule that would severely restrict investment choices in savings plans such as 401(k)’s and individual retirement accounts (IRA’s). Your investment professionals will be forced to adhere to a one-size-fits-all definition of “best interest” for assets and investing strategies in these savings plans. This is especially bad news to poor and middle class investors.
John Berlau, political analyst and Senior Fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, is here to explain the newest scheme by the Feds in real language. John reveals that the DOL is quoted, saying, “most Americans cannot prudently manage retirement assets on their own”. Over half of all Americans currently invest their retirement in some way, usually a 401(k) or IRA. Many must move their funds from one account to another at least once and this new regulation would make it nearly impossible to do so. But, of course, you’re too stupid to know how to do that and where your money should be, so they want to do it for you.
“The Labor Department is not a financial regulatory agency!” John exclaims. Is this just the first step in the Federal Government taking control of everyone’s retirement money? Listen in to hear what John Berlau has to say about that.
Good news: Thirty-three bipartisan organizations, including CEI, Americans for Tax Reform, and others, have signed a letter urging Congress to stop this madness. These groups are actively pursuing elected officials in WDC and they will not let this matter go. Too much is at stake. Call your representatives in WDC at (202) 224-3121 and urge them to put a stop to this immediately.

Topic: Global Warming
Discussed by Myron Ebell

Myron Ebell is with the Center for Energy and Environment at the Competitive

twenty professors basically congratulated them for causing more financial strain
on the American citizens through strict climate regulations.
The lead professor on this study is Jagadish Shukla of George Mason
University, who has received 63 Million dollars in federal grants (aka
taxpayer money) since 2001 to conduct climate change/global warming studies. In

Title: It’s All Hogwash
Topic: Climate Change Bologna
Discussed by Dr. Marlo Lewis
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
Part 1 of 2
Two new studies revealed that the Southern Ocean carbon sink has
become stronger rather than weaker, contrary to what some scientists previously
thought. In climate parlance, a “carbon sink” is anything
that absorbs more carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere than it releases,
while a “source” is anything that emits more CO2 than it absorbs.
Oceans, forests, and soils comprise the world’s major sinks. The balance between
sinks and sources determines the “airborne fraction” – the annual
percentage of CO2 emissions that accumulates in the atmosphere.
Dr. Marlo Lewis, with the Competitive Enterprise Institute, explains
the above paragraph in laymen’s terms using soda/pop/Coca-Cola as an
explanation. He explains how humans are sources for CO2. Oceans, especially the
cold water spots, take in CO2. Not all of it stays in the air just floating
around causing global warming, like environmentalists would have you believe. In
fact, Dr. Lewis reveals that “the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere hasn’t
changed in decades or maybe even hundreds of years!”
Listen in as Dr. Lewis discusses more about the studies that were conducted and
the blatant holes and mistruths in them in the next segment.

Title: Vote Buying
Topic: Vote Buying
Discussed by Iain Murray
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
Part 1 of 3
The regulations governing vote buying in modern liberal democracies seem
paradoxical. It is wrong and illegal to offer individual voters in political
elections money for their votes. It is, however, perfectly acceptable (or at
least, constitutionally protected) to promise identifiable groups of voters
particular benefits in exchange for their votes.
The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB, a product of that 1930s legislation)
is expected to rule any day now in a case that will affect thousands of
businesses. Firms are bracing themselves for the fall-out.
The whole American business model of contracting out non-essential services
would be overturned overnight. Firms that have spent decades flattening their
structures would be forced to vertically integrate. One employment owner told
The Hill, “Every company will have to reexamine their business relationships."

Title: Part 2 of 3 - Every Business Will Have to Change
Topic: Joint Employer
Discussed by Iain Murray
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
It is probably the
biggest change in American employment law since the National Labor Relations Act
and its reform in the 1930s and ‘40s, but it could happen without the general
public realizing it.
The whole American business model of contracting out non-essential services
would be overturned overnight. Firms that have spent decades flattening their
structures would be forced to vertically integrate. One employment owner told
The Hill, “Every company will have to reexamine their business relationships."
It is not just staffing and contracting that are threatened by the NLRB’s
actions on joint employer. Other targets include franchise businesses like
McDonald’s. If franchise businesses are designated joint employers, then that
business structure will also be overturned, with significant effects on one of
the main avenues for American entrepreneurs.
Listen in as Iain lays out the power-grab by the NLRB. Obama promised change, and this will call massive unemployment.

Title: Part 3 of 3 - Every Business While Have to Change
Topic: Joint Employer
Discussed by Iain Murray
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
Companies will probably
vertically integrate to cut down on transaction costs between franchises and
corporate management. As a spokesman for the National Federation of Independent
Businesses also told The Hill, “All of the sudden, a local business person who
has built a franchise up for 20 years is a middle manager.”
Viewed this way, the joint employer cases can be seen as a way of rewarding the
administration’s political allies in the union movement. To do so, the last four
decades or so of American business development need to be written out of history
in a move that will force the re-adoption of monolithic corporate structures
that were shown to be inefficient in the 1970s and ‘80s. That appears to be a
small price to pay in the eyes of the NLRB and the administration.

Title: Golden River Flowing
Topic: Environmental Issues
Discussed by Chris Horner
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
Part 1 of 2
Is the EPA up a golden creek without a paddle?
How are they going to get out of the catastrophe triggered when a worker
accidentally dumped 3 million gallons of toxic waste into the Animas River?
Chris Horner,
with the Competitive Enterprise Institute, discusses how this incident was
actually predicted to happen! No matter how many years of experience someone has
(this worker had 28!), accidents happen – but this could have been avoided if
the EPA had just listened to other experts!
However, Chris does believe this is a teachable moment. He goes on to explain
that Gina McCarthy, the head of the EPA, attempted to hide the entire incident
when it was first discovered. “We need to call a time-out on…allowing them to
seize authority…because they cannot be held accountable,” Chris proclaims. No
will be fired. And the EPA will not even pay for the cleanup efforts out of
their budget; the tax payers will pay for it!
Two Questions:
1) Is the EPA even trying to stop the flow of the toxic chemicals
into other bodies of water?
2) Should the EPA be held financially and economically liable for the damage
caused by their own government worker?
Tune in to the next segment as Chris Horner discusses the idiocy of the EPA in

We need to look no further than the energy crisis in Europe to know the EPA is
overstepping its authority. America is on a downward spiral thanks to the
elected officials who keep granting the EPA unlimited power over our electrical

Title: Which is Better: Gas or Ethanol?
Topic: Ethanol
Discussed by Dr. Marlo Lewis
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
Part 1 of 2
Using ethanol is
better than straight gasoline, right? Well, not really, according
to Dr. Marlo Lewis and
others. Dr. Lewis discusses a study out of the
Minnesota Department of Bioproducts and Biosystem Engineering. The
study followed the entire life cycle of gasoline compared to the entire life
cycle of ethanol, to determine which caused more pollution.
As our kids prepare for another school year, they need to be equipped with the
truth about this issue, as well as others. It will most certainly surface at one
point or another, especially in middle or high school and most definitely in
college. While it is true that gasoline produces a fraction more pollutants than
ethanol when it is used as fuel, the difference is really insignificant,
especially when you look at how many pollutants are produced during the actual
manufacturing of the products.
Dr. Lewis, with the Competitive Enterprise
Institute says, “Ethanol has lower emissions when its
combusted but you have to look at the well-to-wheel life cycle. It’s actually
more polluting than gasoline in terms of five pollutants.” Listen in as he
describes these five pollutants.

Topic: Ethanol
Discussed by Dr. Marlo Lewis
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
The simple and blunt
truth about Global Warming is that there is no such thing. There
has not been an upward heating trend. There has not been more flooding or
droughts. Dr. Lewis explains how, yes, cleanup after natural disasters is more
costly, but that is due to the fact that there are more people to clean up
after! Furthermore, life expectancy continues to climb around the world, even in
third world countries. “None of the advances in the world would have been
possible without the use of affordable energy in the form of fossil fuels,”
Dr. Lewis proclaims.

Demographers
estimate that the population in Texas will double over the next ten years.
Traffic statewide is bad enough as it is. What will it look like in five or ten
years?
Marc Scribner is a
transportation, land use, and telecommunication policy expert with the
Competitive Enterprise Institute,
Marc is here to help us understand the Highway Trust Fund and what the future
may look like if we don’t make some changes – and soon.
“First, the problem is that we’re spending more money than we’re bringing in,”
Marc explains. He goes on to discuss some of the money collected via the various
gas taxes and possible tax increases Congress wants to impose. Marc believes
that the key to success is giving more control over these decision to state and
local officials. Listen in as he explains just what the “Highway Trust Fund”

Topic: Highway Trust Fund
Discussed by Marc Scribner
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
So, what can be done to correct
the obvious mistakes resulting from the Highway Trust Fund? Marc Scribner has
some great suggestions you’ll either love or hate!
First, governments at all levels – local, state, and federal – must stop
spending outrageous sums on mass transit. For example, on the federal level,
about twenty percent of all funds is given to mass transit. However, less than
two percent of trips are made by mass transit. It’s even worse when you break
down the state and local levels.
CHECK THIS OUT!!! Studies have shown that the government could buy each person
who utilizes mass transit a new Toyota Prius every three years!! Come on, now.
That’s crazy talk.
Marc also discusses “Private Activity Bonds” and “Mileage-based User Fees”.
These are both highly controversial, especially in Texas, but don’t tune out.
Listen to what Marc has to say and then research these options for yourself
before you form an opinion.

Title: 69,000 Deaths Prevented by 2100! WOW!
Topic: EPA Rules and Regulations
Discussed by Dr. Marlo Lewis
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
The EPA is now claiming it can
reduce the amount of premature deaths due to pollution and extreme heat by
69,000 by the year 2100. That’s a whopping 811 lives per year! Amazing! No, not
really.
Wouldn’t it be more amazing if we could save 1,325,581 people? That number is
much, much better!
Dr. Marlo Lewis, with the
Competitive Enterprise Institute, explains what the EPA wants
to do with their “global action on climate change”. Collectively across the
globe, trillions of dollars would be required to accomplish their goal to save
nearly 70,000 lives – in America. I don’t really think that voters in China or
Iran would agree to spend billions of their countries’ money on America, do you?
Germany and other European countries have switched from coal to using only
“green” energy and they are paying the price – literally – as much as three
times more than Americans to simply heat and cool their homes. Many can’t afford
to “eat and heat”, as Dr. Lewis puts it, so they have to make a choice: food or
heat/AC. He also explains how the automobile replacing horses as the main mode
of transportation was the best thing that could have happened to human beings.

Title: Is the Pope a Socialist?
Topic: The Pope and Climate Change
Discussed by Myron Ebell
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
Part 1 of 2
We’ve done several
interviews on the “The Pope and Climate Change” in recent weeks.
In his encyclical, the Pope sided with an atheist environmentalist who
claims man is the main cause of climate change. But what else did the Pope
discuss in his 45,000-word letter to the church?
Myron Ebell is director of the
Center for Energy and Environment at the Competitive Enterprise Institute
and chairs the Cooler Heads Coalition, which is comprised of over two dozen
non-profit groups that question global warming alarmism and oppose energy
rationing policies. He says that the Pope has done more damage than just climate
change – it’s a mess across the board. Not only is the encyclical “sloppy
and incoherent”, the Pope has even criticized capitalism and the private
ownership of property!
In addition to being sloppy, incoherent, and enormously critical, the encyclical
is very inconsistent within its own document! Listen in as Myron explains….

In his recent Encyclical, the
Pope called for serious review of the dominant model of development, production,
commerce, and consumption. In other words, he believes capitalism isn’t working;
socialism is the answer.
Myron Ebell is completely dumbfounded by the Pope’s claims concerning all these
issues. In one breath, he says we need to help the poor, but in the next breath,
he criticizes all the ways we are accomplishing it! It also appears that Pope
Francis is only using one-sided information from “experts”. He isn’t even giving
the other side a chance!

Title: Left Lying about our Drinking Water
Topic: EPA Lies
Discussed by William Yeatman
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
The “Clean Water Act” sounds
great, right? Everyone needs – no, everyone deserves – clean water. I am not
disputing that. However, the “Clean Water Act” is not what you probably think it
is about. In fact, it is simply yet another attempt by the Obama Administration
to grant the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) supreme power.
William Yeatman is Competitive Enterprise Institute’s Senior Fellow,
specializing in Environmental Policy and Energy Markets. William says, “The SAFE
Drinking Water Act already protects the nation’s drinking water supply. The EPA
has engaged in all sorts of shenanigans to make this new rule 'The CLEAN Water
Act' appear to be something that it isn’t. It has absolutely nothing to do with
drinking water.”
The EPA has been spewing the lie that 117 Million Americans (1 in 3) do not have
clean, safe drinking water. “We need to preserve the water for our children” is
the latest ploy from the Left. Well, then maybe the EPA isn’t doing such a great
job, if the “Safe Drinking Water Act” is currently under their watchful eye and
guidance! William reveals that there has not been a public outcry concerning
safe drinking water. None.
William Yeatman has another warning for those of us in Texas, specifically those
who have been directly affected by the recent floods. Do you have a permit to
fix your home, business, church, or school? Yes – even your home! Listen in as
William gives the devastating news concerning this!
Interesting Fact: Prior to joining CEI, William was a Peace Corps volunteer,
where he taught entrepreneurship and small business management to women living
in rural areas. Before that, he ran a homeless shelter in Denver, Colorado. He’s
a pretty cool guy! And he is dedicated to helping the public in whatever way he
possibly can.

Title: The European Union’s Unreasonable Forecast
Topic: European Union
Discussed by Dr. Marlo Lewis
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
The European Union (EU) has made a proposal to cut emissions by 2050.
Now, we
all agree that we must take care of the world that God has entrusted us with. No
argument there. But – BUT – God has also given us the tools and natural
resources to help make our lives easier, cleaner, and healthier. The EU,
however, wants us to go back to the dark ages – literally.
Dr. Marlo Lewis, with the Competitive Enterprise Institute, explains the
proposal by the EU. He says, “They want the world to agree to a treaty that
requires {every nation} to reduce it emissions of greenhouse gases 60% below
2010 levels by the year 2050.” Of course, Obama is all for this and will do
everything in his power to sign this treaty before his Presidency expires.
Why can’t we just do it? Wouldn’t it better for the environment? Dr. Lewis says,
“It’s unreasonable and unsustainable. The world, under current policies, is on
track to nearly double what we emit now.” He explains how very little emissions
actually come from developed countries like the US; most come from
underdeveloped, poor countries that have little to no access to electricity.
Listen in as Dr. Marlo Lewis explains what these underdeveloped, poor countries
will be required to do under this EU treaty. It’s absolutely absurd!

Title: The Lies Keep Getting Bigger
Topic: Climate Change Bologna
Discussed by Dr. Marlo Lewis
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
In 1970, LIFE Magazine reported that, within ten years, those living in urban cities would require gas masks to survive. LIFE Magazine also stated that civilization would end by the year 1985. Its 2015 and the earth hasn't warmed in nearly two decades! We’re alive and breathing – without the aid of gas masks. We have crude oil to spare (if Obama would let us drill!) What’s up with
LIFEMagazine, anyway?
Dr. Marlo Lewis compares these statements to an apocalyptic science fiction movie. In fact, he laughs about it! Why on earth would he laugh about something as serious as climate change/global warming/global cooling/melting glaciers/and stranded polar bears? It’s the end of the world and I must recycle! I need to send money to save the whales! I have to march in the “save the trees” parade! (Sense the sarcasm, people. Sense the sarcasm.)
The left has excuse after excuse as to why the earth has changed from cooling to warming. But, Dr. Lewis says, “The alarmists can call off the apocalypse!” Listen in as he
reveals the new information from satellite programs concerning fossil fuels, the real temperature of the earth, and what it means for our future. The left isn’t interested in the
public; they are interested in politics – and money.

Recently, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy was repeatedly unable to say whether her past statements and climate model predictions actually comported with observed climate data that have been used for decades.
Dr. Marlo Lewis in an expert in the area of global warming, energy policy, and public policy issues. He says, “Most of these models predict terrible impact from climate change. Over the last 35 years, the model rate predictions have exceeded the actual temperatures anywhere from two-to-five times.” He goes on to explain how the models are accurate less than five percent of the time.

Topic: Climate Change Bologna
Discussed by Dr. Marlo Lewis

Senator Jeff Sessions and others
sent a letter to the EPA Administrator, Gina McCarthy, asking her to produce
data that the world is experiencing greater and longer droughts. Gina McCarthy
gave this response: “Droughts are becoming more extreme and frequent.” I’m sorry
Ms. McCarthy, but the hard data does not support your claim. And is that really
the best answer you can come up with?
Dr. Marlo Lewis reveals what the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change says
about droughts. HINT: It doesn’t jive with what Ms. McCarthy says! What about
hurricanes? Since the 1900’s, there has been a twenty percent decrease in the
amount of powerful land storms in the United States. Of course, the EPA’s “data”
shows a dramatic increase.
Gina McCarthy also gave this asinine statement: “It makes no difference to the
validity or the robustness of climate science that is telling us that we are
facing an absolute challenge that we must address both environmentally and
economically from a national security perspective, and for EPA, from a public
health perspective.” It’s for our national security, according to Ms. McCarthy.

Title: The Green Campaign to Restrict Trade in Fossil Fuels
Topic: Obama's War on Fossil Fuels
Discussed by Dr. Marlo Lewis
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
The left hates fossil fuels. They just hate them. They hate everything about
them, even the good stuff! They hate progress. They hate humans. They just don’t
understand that their cell phones, laptops, cars (yes, even smart cars!),
toasters, TV’s, refrigerators, pretty much everything else uses electricity!
Fossil fuels are the cheapest, easiest, most efficient source for electricity.
But, they just don’t get it.
Dr. Marlo Lewis doesn’t know exactly “why” the left hates fossil fuels so much.
It just doesn’t make sense to him! And what about CO2? Back in the days of the
dinosaurs, the CO2 levels were so much higher than they are now! So why are the
greenies crying and crying over the CO2 levels now? Do they really just not
understand?
Listen in as Dr. Lewis reviews a report from the State Department concerning the
Keystone Pipeline and why it has the left so hopping mad! It’s all about supply

makes sense to build the pipeline! Bottom line: It is efficient – both
economically and financially. You can find Dr. Marlo Lewis [here]

Title: Liar Loans are Back
Topic: Liar Loans Are Back
Discussed by Hans Bader
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
Part 1 of 2
Obama did not learn anything
from the 2008 financial crisis. His administration is doubling down on the
mortgage industry, giving a loan to anyone who wants one, no matter their
ability to pay the loan or not. But but but! Wasn’t it Bush’s fault?
Hans Bader, with the Competitive Enterprise Institute, says that the Clinton
administration actually started the whole mess when they began Fanny Mae and
Fanny Mac. Many of these loans are referred to “Liar Loans” because the
applicant just flat-out lies to the lender and the facts are never checked.
Hans explains that many Republicans in Congress tried to fix the mess that
Clinton created, but they were blocked at every turn buy the Democrats, who were
in control starting in 2006. George Soros played a big part in the whole
debacle, as well.
Texas was one of the last states to pass a law allowing people to borrow money
against their equity. Terry and just a handful of other Republican activists
opposed this law. Listen in as he explains why and as Hans gives more details
about the housing crash – things you probably don’t even know!

Title: Part 2 of 2 - Liar Loans are Back
Topic: Liar Loans Are Back
Discussed by Hans Bader
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
Hans Bader continues to discuss
the pending doom of the housing market. He explains that Obama is using the FHA
to cross-subsidize loans. Why? It didn’t work with Clinton. Bush and the
Republicans tried to fix it, but the Dems stopped them.
“There are other countries that do not have government-sponsored mortgage giants
and their home owner rates are higher than ours. If we can get them out of the
market place, eventually the over-all rates will increase,” Hans Bader says. “It
just doesn’t make sense for the government to use these subsidies, when the
taxpayers are the ones who pay for it,” he continues.
Obama is pressuring banks to approve loans for minorities in low-income areas,
saying banks are racist! This causes a ripple effect: the banks give loans to
irresponsible minorities who pay no money down for a house they cannot afford,
these minorities stop paying their house payment, they lose their home, honest,
hard-working middle-to-upper-middle class home owners then get their loan rate
jacked up to pay for someone else’s loan. Not only is this just not fair, it’s
criminal!
Can Congress do anything to stop this never-ending cycle? Will Obama allow
Congress to defund these government subsidy banks? Or will he just veto any
attempt to actually fix the problem?

The SOTU: As Obama kept talking, he just got dumber and dumber. When it came

Obama’s good friend Mr. Gruber has been paid upwards of $4

Title: What did the US Just Claim?!?!?!?!
Topic: Obama and China
Discussed by Dr. Marlo Lewis
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
Part 1 of 2
Dr. Marlo Lewis explains how the United States made an impressive, yet
misleading, presentation at the recent UN Conference on Global Warming in Lima,
Peru. This conference is obviously chock-full of environmentalists from various
countries who love to get together and talk about how humans are awful and
destroying the earth.
Dr. Lewis reviews a report by Myron Bell at www.GlobalWarming.org about the
recent conference, which is the second installment in a round of three, the
final one occurring late in 2015 in Paris. Why is this conference so
significant? What did the US make claims to during their presentation? And what
does the Kyoto Treaty from 1997 have to do with where we are today in America
concerning fossil fuels?
There were sixteen other countries represented at the conference – what strides
are they achieving to leave a cleaner, healthier earth for future generations?
Dr. Lewis says, “It doesn’t matter what the United States and other developed
countries do to curb CO2 emissions. If the developing countries, like China and
India, don’t watch their emissions, there is no way to limit the increase of CO2
in the atmosphere.”

Also discussed in this segment are the consequences of the “treaty”

blue-collar average American citizen – just like every other law passed by this

Title: Ethanol Hurts People and Engines
Topic: Ethanol
Discussed by Dr. Marlo Lewis
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
The Illinois Petroleum Council (IPC) has launched an ad campaign in Chicago warning
consumers that the city’s proposal to require the sale of E15, a gasoline
mixture containing 50 percent more ethanol than most cars were designed to use,
could damage engines, lower gas mileage, and harm small businesses.
George W. Bush started this big mess during his State of the Union address in
2006 when he stated that ethanol would be used more and more by the year 2013.
Well, we’ve already passed that deadline up, but the EPA and Congress are still
trying to sanction more ethanol in your gasoline.
Dr. Lewis is certain, however, that Bush 43 could not have foreseen the mess
that his speech would create. There have been numerous unintended consequences,
such as food price inflation, sky rocketing gas prices, increasing greenhouse
emissions (YES you read that right!), and political instability and violence in
developing countries.
Dr. Marlo Lewis, with the Competitive Enterprise Institute, is an expert in
global warming, global cooling, climate change, whatever Al Gore is calling it
these days. Listen in as Dr. Lewis explains what Congress is telling the EPA,
who controls all oil and gas regulations and standards across the nation. He

Topic: Unmanned Aircraft Systems
Discussed by Marc Scribner
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
In Texas, landowners
have rights to whatever is on their land. But do they have rights to the space
above their land?
The newest trend these days is drones. They seem to be everywhere! Have you seen
one? Marc Scribner, with the Competitive Enterprise Institute, calls drones “Unmanned
Aircraft Systems”. Regulators in the industry are having a hard time
actually defining what UAS’s are. Are they like a remote control airplane? Is it
UPS or the pizza delivery guy? Is it property of the government?
Marc discusses the safety issues surrounding UAS’s. As an expert on
transportation, land use, and telecommunications policy issues, he says many
people are concerned about the civil UAS’s – ones owned and operated by the
average citizen. Their concerns are not just focused on injuries, but there are
privacy issues and concerns about interference with air traffic.
So, who has the right to issue laws about UAS’s? Do we really want the
government in control of this? Marc says the US is unique in regards to the FFA
and its regulation over aircraft. Right now, if it is moving through the air, it
is currently regulated by the FFA. Marc proposes one solution similar to
Canada’s. Listen in to hear more about it!
In the last part of this segment with Marc Scribner, he explains property and
privacy rights. Can just anyone fly a UAS in your backyard and spy on you? Is it
legal for average citizen and companies to use UAS’s to deliver packages?

Title: Who Made Them God?
Topic: Global Warming
Discussed by Dr. Marlo Lewis
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
Part 1 of 2
Over 1.5 BILLION people in the
world still lack electricity. They have none. Zip. Zero. That’s BILLION – with a
B. Also, 3.6 BILLION people need access to plentiful, reliable, affordable
energy as soon as possible. These people might have access to electricity for a
few hours each day, or have a stove to cook on but no running water. They might
have running water, but not electricity.
So, is energy poverty or global warming the bigger threat? Dr. Marlo Lewis cites
a study that reveals the 20 greatest accomplishments of the 20th Century and on
the top of the list was the invention of electricity.
Think about how many times each day you use electricity. Can you imagine still
using horse dung and other disgusting things to cook with over an open flame?
Can you imagine still using a horse and buggy as your only mode of
transportation? Can you imagine not reaching into a refrigerator and getting a
cold glass of milk or having indoor plumbing? Can you imagine not having
centralized heat or air conditioning? And heaven forbid you don’t have access to
the internet and Facebook and Twitter on your iPad or smart phone. Your kids
might even have to – gasp! – walk to a library to do research for a school
paper! Oh the horror!
So, who made the Al Gore, UN, the Politicians, the International Monetary Fund
“god”? Liberal Democrat environmentalists want the right to tell everyone in the
world how much electricity they can use each day. Oh, they still want to have
their private jets, big houses, and gas-guzzling Suburbans – they just don’t
want anyone else to have them!

Title: Part 2 of 2 - Who Made Them God?
Topic: Global Warming
Discussed by Dr. Marlo Lewis
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
The politicians
control other politicians who don’t want to be controlled, except by the
politicians! They don’t want anyone else to tell them what to do but they sure
don’t have a problem with telling us what to do – and even how we should live!
Michelle Obama and her “healthy” lunch program. Obama and the “Affordable Care
Act”. The environmentalists and fracking. Now, Al Gore and the UN want to play
“god” and tell us when, where, and how much electricity we can use – in our own
homes!
We, in America, cannot even begin to fathom living without electricity. Dr.
Marlo Lewis continues discussing the outrageous amount of people in the world
who either lack adequate electricity or have none at all. The numbers are just
astonishing. There are ways that all these people can have electricity by using
inexpensive, reliable, natural fossil fuels. But Al Gore and the UN won’t allow
it! Shame on them for being so selfish, wanting all the energy for themselves
and their big jet planes.
Dr. Lewis says that these regulations will have devastating effects on third
world countries. These poor people do not have the means or money to use wind or
solar powered energy. They don’t even have the means or money for fossil fuels,
which are a whole lot cheaper! Forcing every country in the world to follow
ridiculous rules about electrical use is not only wrong, it borderlines on
abuse.
Dr. Marlo Lewis’s article “Is Energy Poverty or Global Warming the Bigger
Threat” can be found [HERE]
Print out the report and have your children read it. Ask them questions. Have
them ask you questions. Explain to your children the dangers of the
environmentalist’s ideals. Explain to them how Al Gore and the UN will sling us
back into the dark ages with their strict rules and regulations. Show your
children the proof about “global warming” and how man is not causing the Earth
to warm. What have they been taught in school? You might be surprised at how
much they “know” or think they know.

Title: Opinion vs. Policy
Topic: Opinion vs. Policy
Discussed by Carrie Sheffield
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
Carrie Sheffield has
worked on Wall Street with Goldman Sachs and Moody’s Investment Services. She is
a former writer for the Washington Times and covered POLITICO and The Hill. She
has seen the ins and outs and everything in between.
Today, Carrie discusses the recent speech given by Janet Yellen, the Federal
Reserve Chairwoman, appointed by President Obama. In her speech, Janet focused
on income inequality, economic mobility, pre-kindergarten benefits, and college
tuition.
Janet’s speech is so significant because of her position within the Federal
Reserve. It is one thing to have an opinion as a woman and she has the right to
that opinion and free speech. However, as the Chairwoman of the Federal Reserve
those opinions should be – and must be – kept silent. What Janet said has
nothing to do with the Federal Reserve and everything to do with a political
agenda.
The Federal Reserve does not exist to “fix” income inequality. The Federal
Reserve is not in charge of entrepreneurship in America. The Federal Reserve is
not supposed to tell parents their 3 or 4 year old should be in a
pre-kindergarten program at their local public school. The Federal Reserve
should not tell colleges and universities to lower their rates.
Carrie Sheffield says Janet’s speech was nothing more than a political ploy. Low
information voters will love her. People on food stamps and government aid will
think she is the smartest women on earth. The Hollywood elite will start touting
her as the next Vice President, along with Hilary as America’s boss.
The whole thing is just disgusting. Listen in as Carrie discusses Janet’s speech
in more detail and explains why it is so far out there it’s almost laughable.

Title: The Future of Fossil Fuels
Topic: Fossil Fuels
Discussed by Dr. Marlo Lewis
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
Part 1 of 2
Give notice to your landlord. Tell your apartment manager you are outta there!
Sell your house and 99% of your stuff! Move into a 200 foot Zulu Hut, with no
plumbing and no electricity. Eat veggies grown in your garden. Raise your own
chickens. Actually, scratch that. You also have to become a Vegan. No more meat
for you! Come on! It’ll be fun!
NOT! I am only just kidding, folks. BUT this is not far from the ideal living
situation environmentalists want us to all experience. That part I am NOT
kidding about.
Dr. Marlo Lewis is back to discuss a new campaign haters of electricity and
fossil fuels are using called the “Divestment Movement’s Heart of Darkness”.
Their goal is to convince large corporations, college presidents, politicians,
and anyone else who will listen to dump their money and investments into clean
energy companies. In short, they want to use this money to campaign for climate
alarm. It’s nothing but a political strategy.
Dr. Lewis has been watching fossil fuels for decades. He is simply amazed by the
attention being given to fossil fuels over the last few years. What is all the
hype about? Listen in!

Title: Part 2 of 2 - The Future of Fossil Fuels
Topic: Fossil Fuels
Discussed by Dr. Marlo Lewis
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
Dr. Marlo Lewis says that if the “Divestment” campaign gains momentum, oil
company stocks could plummet quickly and dramatically. However, this does not
just effect the fossil fuel industry. It affects a whole, whole lot more than
that. Normal, everyday people would lose their jobs – jobs that you and I depend
on to provide us services every day. Jobs many of YOU have right now! Financial
services. Technology companies. Restaurants. Farmers. Telecommunications.
Everything uses electricity.
The environmentalists don’t think about this. They just see “fossil fuel”
and run around screaming, waving their “Mother Earth” sign, and
Tweeting from the iPhones!
If we really stopped using all fossil fuels completely – cold turkey – we would
be tossed back into the Stone Ages. No electric smart cars – we’d ride a horse
and use a buggy. No iced tea – we’d drink unfiltered, disease filled water from
a pond. No iPhones – you’d have to (gulp) write a handwritten letter! Oh the
horror!

Title: EPA Refuses to Report Good News
Topic: Facts about CO2
Discussed by Dr. Marlo Lewis
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
Facts: There has been a reduction of 62% in carbon dioxide emissions since 1980. Population, however, has grown by 39%. Energy use has increased by 25%. Vehicle miles traveled have increased by 95%. And GDP has nearly tripled at a whopping 145%!!
Try to find this “Good News” on the EPA’s website – it’s not there! They don’t want us to know the truth. They are even trying to now classify HUMANS as a POLLUTANT. Give me a break! They just want more money!
Despite all these FACTS, the left is crying, “Stop using CO2! It’s killing the earth! It’s causing cancer! People are dying!” Where are their FACTS? Someone show me one shred of evidence that proves their case!
But what about China and other countries spitting out CO2 like a big, black monster? Dr. Marlo Lewis has an explanation and a solution for them, as well. Listen in!
Energy drives America. Energy drives the world. Or, most of it, anyway. Over 2 Billion people live in such poverty that they do not have electricity. Women cook on “stoves” made of manure. Children walk hours every day to just gather water. This is what the environmentalists will push America to, if they are allowed to continue manipulating the EPA and the White House with their lies.
The environmentalists don’t realize that everything they have the privilege of using every day comes from energy. Their smart phones use energy to produce the sound of music they listen to while jogging in the park. The latest college football stats they just Googled on their laptop while sipping a $6 cup of coffee at the local Starbucks, using their free WiFI, uses energy. The shower they took after their jog in the park took energy. If they don’t have a car, but ride the bus, that bus uses MORE energy than a car! When they go out clubbing on Friday night, that business uses energy to play music and serve them drinks! What hypocrisy!

Title: GM is Becoming Fannie Motors
Topic: Fannie Motors
Discussed by John Berlau
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
When the stock
market crashed in 2008, did you lose everything? Well, be careful because the
investment bankers are at it again! If you can walk and chew gum at the same
time, the auto loaners will give you a car!
Many auto dealers use an outside source to finance car loans. Some people use
their private bank. In recent years, GM has started issuing the auto loans
themselves, lumping thousands of loans together and selling the loans to
investors. John Berlau says GM is becoming the “Fannie Mae” of auto loans with
these “sub-prime” loans.
If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it’s probably a duck!

continues this risky behavior.

Title: The Clean Power Plan
Topic: Fossil Fuels
Discussed by Dr. Marlo Lewis
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
The radicals at the EPA are determined to remove any and all signs of
carbon-based energy in America – and the world. One of the EPA’s new favorite
coin-phrases is the “Clean Power Plan”. This is a proposed guideline (aka
regulation) to reduce carbon dioxide from coal powered plants by an average of
thirty percent nationwide by the year 2030. Dr. Marlo Lewis, Senior Fellow at
the Competitive Enterprise Institute, explains this guideline (aka regulation)
in further detail.
Yesterday on The What’s UP Radio Program, Kathleen White discussed another
favorite phrase the EPA is throwing around to all the Hollywood elite and Ivy
League college kids: “The Social Cost of Carbon”. Dr. Marlo Lewis says this is
the “new equivalent of the Marxist labor theory of value”. In other words, it’s
all “hocus pocus” based on climate functions that have never been validated.
Furthermore, Dr. Lewis says the EPA has no empirical data at all about any
benefits wind or solar powered energy have on the environment. Zero evidence.
None. Zilch. Nada. Zip. Listen in as Dr. Lewis discusses how the EPA is not even
attempting to offer a shred of proof for any benefits or if it will absolutely
reduce the effects “global warming” has had on our economy.

Title: The Greens Want Their Cake - And They Want to Eat It, Too!
Topic: Keystone XL
Discussed by Dr. Marlo Lewis
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
For years, the
Greens and the environmentalists argued that building the Keystone XL Pipeline
from Canada throughout the United States would increase gas prices. Marlo Lewis
says this doesn’t make any sense! And he’s right!
Now the Greens are saying “Oh no! We can’t do this because now the price of
gas will decrease and we can’t have that!” Sheesh! They just need to make
up their minds already!
Marlo references a new study (listen to find out who it’s from!) that states,
even if further Keystone XL Pipeline is approved, it would only increase carbon
emissions by 0.0001°C – one ten-thousandths of a degree – by the year 2100.
Whoa! Stop the drilling! Stop the oil! Shut down the pipes! That is just too
dangerous! LOL
Just two years ago, there was hardly any crude oil being shipped from Canada to
the US. Now there are up to 170,000 barrels a day! This oil is being shipped via
rail car because the Greens won’t allow Obama to finish the pipeline!
Obama should be looking into the cheapest way to get this oil to America rather
than focusing on one ten-thousandths of a degree of global warming.

Topic: Tax Shifting
Discussed by Marc Scribner
with Competitive Enterprise Institute www.cei.org
Part 1 of 2
Many states have a flat rate charged every time you pump gas. This “tax” is
divided between the federal government and the state government. In Texas, the
rate for this gas tax hasn’t been raised in decades, which can either be good or
bad, depending on your point of view.
So, how is the federal government spending those tax dollars? The money is
supposed to be used to build new roads and repair existing roads, but that is
rarely the case.
Marc Scribner has been researching and studying highway development with the
Competitive Enterprise Institute since 2008. His duties include transportation,
