NOTE: This sermon was preached the Sunday before the
November 5 Presidential Election. I chose to keep all the political references

Pastor Jarrett says: “Prayer should be as natural as breathing. It’s not just conversation with God. It’s communion with God.” Amen!

through the fire, and sometimes He delivers us by the fire.

Babylon is a tough place to live. But know this: God has not left us here alone. He is with us. This story proves that there is no on one like Him. He is worthy of our worship. He is worthy of our trust.

What can we learn from Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego about courage? Remember Exodus 20:3-6.
LIVING IN BABYLON: WHO WILL YOU WORSHIP? WHO WILL YOU TRUST?
The temptation to give in is about the heart. Make sure your heart is completely surrendered to God.

What was God trying to tell King Nebuchadnezzar with this nightmare dream? What was King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream about?
Pastor Jarrett reads from Daniel 2 and gives a little history about the language Daniel used and why that is significant to note.

What is important to you? How do you live your life? Pastor Jarrett begins the sermon discussing preacher and revivalist, Jonathan Edwards, and his influence on many peoples’ lives. His most famous sermon was entitled “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God”.
But, Jonathan was most known for his “70
Resolutions”. You will definitely want to save the link to your favorites and refer to it often!
So, who was Daniel? What was life like for him and the people at that time? How did he get to Babylon from Israel? Why and how did King Nebuchadnezzar brainwash him and his friends?
Pastor Jarrett gives a short review from last week’s sermon and then reads from the Scripture Passage for this week.

QUESTIONS / ISSUES DISCUSSED:
What is Satan’s strategy? Pastor Jarrett wants us to remember that Satan wants nothing more than to keep us away from God and His love. He wants to keep us in Babylon.
Does Satan use force or “love” to convince the masses? Pastor Jarrett shares an interesting story about leading cattle to slaughter.
Book Reference: “Tempted and Tried”
by Russell Moore
Is God still sovereign over all the earth today? (Daniel 1:2) Pastor Jarrett reminds us that, while the world may seem out of control and crazy, God is well-aware and He is totally in control.

Day 5
Pastor Jarrett
Stephens continues his summer series this week entitled: “Promise Keeper”.
The focus each week will be on a different promise from God found in the Bible –
both the Old and New Testaments. His sermon this week is on Romans 8:1 “There
is, therefore, now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

QUESTIONS / ISSUES DISCUSSED:
OUR FUTURE
British New Testament scholar and retired Anglican Bishop N.T. Wright once stated: “The
Greek word nyn ‘now’ is important
here. There is therefore now no condemnation. This is both logical (now
therefore) and temporal (in the present time). The future verdict can be
announced in the present, because the Messiah has dealt with his people’s sins,
and the spirit indwells them to bring them to resurrection.”
Why did Paul bookend Romans 8 with “no condemnation” with “no separation”? (Romans 8:31-39)
FINAL THOUGHTS:
“No separation” is possible because “no condemnation” is a reality. It’s a promise that we can claim and cling to from now until the day we stand before God.
If you have never accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, text the word JESUS to 77069 and a pastor or counselor from CFBC will call you back.

QUESTIONS / ISSUES DISCUSSED:
OUR PRESENT
FUN FACT: The phrase “in Christ” appears 119 times in Paul’s letters. This is 119 promises to claim!
How are we united “in Christ”? (Romans 3:24; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 3:26; Ephesians 2:13)
What sins cause you guilt? What do you wish you could stop doing but just can’t seem to stop?
Pastor Jarrett challenges everyone to write down our sins in our Bible (YES IN OUR BIBLE) and then write the words “no condemnation” next to it! Listen as he explains why we must reject condemnation.
Why is Satan called the “accuser of the brethren”? (Revelation 12:10)
*** What is the difference between condemnation and conviction? Pastor Jarrett shares a great graphic, which can be found around the 1-hour mark at the link above.

QUESTIONS / ISSUES DISCUSSED:
OUR PAST
What if all of your impure thoughts, bad words spoken, selfish motives, and immoral acts were on display for all to see? Would you cringe and hide in fear of judgement?
Remember: God knows ALL you have done and STILL loves you and He will NEVER stop loving you!
What is the only thing stopping God from condemning us all? (Romans 5:8-9; 18-19; Romans 6:22-23; Romans 7:25; Romans 8:1)
Eugene Peterson in his Message translation refers to “condemnation” as “a continuous, low lying black cloud” that is over our lives.
OUR PRESENT
There are two present realities we can cling to when remembering our salvation in Christ:
We are free from the law of sin. (Romans 8:2)
We are free to live by the Spirit. (Romans 8:3-4)
FUN FACT: The phrase “in Christ” appears 119 times in Paul’s letters.

QUESTIONS / ISSUES DISCUSSED:
OUR PAST
Why is it in our human nature to sin? Is this really how God designed us to be? Or did He design us to be spiritual and holy?
Do we “deserve” condemnation?
Do you ever really, really want to do what is right, but you do the wrong thing anyway? So did Paul! (Romans 7:14-24)

Thus to know Him was to know God (John 8:19, 14:17); to see Him was to see God (John 12:45, 14:9); to believe Him was to believe in God (John 12:44, 14:1); to receive Him was to receive God (Mark 9:37); to hate Him was to hate God (John 15:23); and to honor Him was to honor God (John 5:23).”
