QUESTIONS / ISSUES DISCUSSED:
THE WISEMEN GAVE: Their Treasure
Why did the wisemen bring gold, frankincense, and myrrh to give to Jesus? Were these gifts expensive? Was it about the money/expense or about the sacrifice? (2 Samuel 2:22-24)
Pastor Jarrett encourages us to think about what WE are sacrificing for Jesus.
THE WISEMEN GAVE: Their Time
Why did the wisemen travel so far and for so long just to see a newborn baby? (Jeremiah 29:13)
How much time are YOU giving to Jesus? Is he a priority in your life?

QUESTIONS / ISSUES DISCUSSED:
Why was King Herod so angry when the wisemen talked of a newborn king? (Micah 5:2)
Why didn’t religious leaders believe the wisemen? Pastor Jarrett encourages US to take what we know and act on it! After all, the religious leaders knew all about God, yet they did not seek out the truth.
Why did the wisemen follow the star? Was it an actual star or was it a comet or an angel or something else?
By the time the wisemen reached Jesus, was he still a baby or was he a toddler? What did they do when they finally saw Jesus? What gifts did they bring?

Don’t be like some who wonder at the message, but don’t believe it. Instead, let’s be like the shepherds who heard, saw, and embraced the Good News and their response was to share it with the world.

More about the shepherds:
Were shepherds well-paid or poor? Did others consider shepherds “unclean”?
Pastor Jarrett believes this is the very reason God chose the shepherds to spread the Good News FIRST, reminding us that Jesus died for EVERY person. (1 Corinthians 1:26-29)
What did the shepherds do before they told others of the birth of Jesus?
Author and Theologian R.C. Sproul: “…the shepherds became the first evangelists of the Christian church. Their testimony, although worthless in the law of the courts of the day, was valued by God. He entrusted to them the first human proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ. They heard the gospel; they came to Christ; they saw, believed and proclaimed.”

REVIEW: Over the last two weeks, Pastor Jarrett preached about Mary and Joseph’s faith and trust in God’s plan and the angels’ response of praise and worship to God’s message.
Why were the shepherds told of the Savior’s birth? Why were they the first to be told (after Mary and Joseph)? Were they also the first to tell others of the Good News? Were shepherds well-paid or poor? Where did they live? Did others consider shepherds “unclean”?

QUESTIONS / ISSUES DISCUSSED:
Are you having a difficult time finding joy this holiday season? How can we keep worshipping and praising God through struggles and heartbreak? (Galatians 4:4-5; Colossians 1:19-20)
Pastor Jarrett offers some hope and encouragement.
Pastor Louie Giglio: “Worship is our response, both personal and corporate, to God for who He is and what he has done, expressed in and by the things we say and the way we live.”
FINAL THOUGHTS:
Make a commitment – a promise – that you will not let the angels out-worship you. Lift your eyes, your heart, and your worship to God today and every day.
1 Peter 1:12 “It was revealed to them (prophets of old) that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, things into which angels long to look.”
