LISTEN TO THE TRUTH
Why didn’t the rich young ruler like what Jesus had to tell him (aka the TRUTH)? Pastor Emory says: “It’s more than keeping a list of do’s and don’ts; it’s giving him your heart and following Jesus. He [the rich young ruler] didn’t want to listen to that.”
What are you filling your time with?
What truth are you listening to? Pastor Emory reminds us that what we take in affects every aspect of our lives; be careful! (Luke 6:45)
LIVE IN FAITHFULNESS
Can we live in faith without righteousness and truth? HINT: Nope.
Why was the rich young ruler saddened by the Truth?
Why were the disciples confused when Jesus said: “How difficult it will be for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God”?
How can we live in faithfulness in a world that is full of sin and selfishness?

Are you a worrier? We all worry from time to time. But we shouldn’t, should we? I’ve seen a meme on Facebook and Instagram the last week that says: “If you have time to worry, you have time to pray.”
This is the theme of Pastor Averri LeMalle’s sermon, “Winning Over Worry”, using Jesus’s own words in Matthew 6. Listen each day this week as Pastor LeMalle offers hope and encouragement for the New Year.
Questions/Issues Discussed:
Has worry ever worked for anyone? Pastor Averri continues in Matthew 6:25-34, explaining what Jesus said about being anxious and worrying over things we have no control over.
Pastor Averri paraphrases it this way: “Worry is unbiblical; and if it’s unbiblical, it’s ungodly; and if it’s ungodly, it’s sin.” He uses Proverbs and 1 Peter as more references…
The first step in winning: STOP WORRYING! It never, ever works! It only causes more pain.
Pastor Averri discusses the USS Tang, a submarine that successfully sank 33 enemy ships during WWII. How was the USS Tang destroyed?

Congratulations! You have survived 2017! It has been filled with good, bad, and ugly situations. No matter the circumstance, though, He has blessed you through it all. “He has been – and will always will be – good to you,” Pastor Averri reminds us.
In between the triumphs and the tragedies, there is a little things called “worry”. The media bombards us with anything and everything they can to make us worry. We worry about our children and spouses. We worry about our aging parents and grandparents. We worry about our jobs and our homes when they flood. We worry about…everything.
