Will God always provide and protect us? (1 Corinthians 10:13; Romans 8:1) Pastor Young mentions the viral story from 2022 when oil activists threw tomato sauce on a priceless Van Gogh painting. What happened to the painting?

Title: Psalm 100: Worship With Your Life
Topic: Summer in the Psalms
Discussed by Pastor Emory Cothen
with Champion Forest Baptist Church (www.ChampionForest.org)

Day 5

Why should we worship? Where should we worship? Is there a right way to worship? Is corporate worship the only way to worship God? Do you ever put worship in a box? Are you worshipping anything or anyone else other than God?

Pastor Emory Cothen continues the summer sermon series “Summer in the Psalms” with Psalm 100. Their hope is that your life will be impacted and transformed by the truths found in some of the most beloved Psalms.

Pastor Emory Cothen is the Young Adult’s Pastor at the main Champion Forest Baptist Church campus.

QUESTIONS / ISSUES DISCUSSED:

So why do we worship God? We know we are commanded to, but “why”? (Psalm 100:5; Isaiah 6:3)

What are you passionate about? If your passion was blasted on a TV screen, what would it show? Would it show a picture of Jesus or something else? OUCH! (Matthew 15:8)

How long should we worship God? QUOTE: Charles Spurgeon: “So long as we are receivers of mercy, we must be givers of thanks.”

Should older generations be encouraging younger generations to worship God with their whole lives?

Pastor Cother says: “We praise God with our whole life, because anything less than that is not an adequate response to His goodness.”

SOMETHING TO PONDER: Are you living a life of worship? Can others see a difference in your life? Can your family see a difference? When was the last time you shared the Gospel with a stranger?

How can we follow God through our worship? Pastor Cothen reminds us that we are all sheep and need a Shepherd.

Who is commanded to worship God? (Psalm 150:6)

Is Jesus the only king we should worship? (1 Chronicles 29:11; Exodus 15:18)

Have you ever received news that you weren’t expecting? Why is it hard to worship God in those rough times? Isn’t that when we should be relying fully on His power? Pastor Cothen shares a personal story about a scary situation he and wife experienced with their daughter while she was in the womb. What did he and his wife do when they received that devastating news?

Pastor Cothen reminds us: “Even when there are tears coming out of your eyes, you are still called to worship God.”

Why should we be joyful when we worship? Tune in tomorrow for more encouragement from Pastor Cothen…

Does the Word of God delight you? Are you even reading the Word of God? Pastor Morris reminds us that we will never delight in the Word of God if we don’t read the Word of God. He recommends starting with reading a Psalm a day and pray that God will give you a delight in His Word.

How is the world influencing you and your family? Who do you follow on social media? Are they influencing you in a good or bad way? How do you act on social media? How do you act at the grocery store? How do you act in your own home? Just something to pause and think about…

HOW TO HAVE A BLESSED LIFE: Say no to the influence of the world.

Why is saying no to the world just as important as saying yes to God?

Is walking with the Lord an important step to avoiding sin? How is standing with the Lord different than walking with him? Why is sitting with the world so dangerous? Pastor Morris explains that when we sit down, it’s like we’re planting ourselves in place. We don’t want to do that! (1 Corinthains 15:33)

We are to love one another – no matter what. Does this mean we must also “accept” everyone and everything? Pastor Morris puts it this way: “Saying no to sitting down with those who oppose God is not legalism; it’s commonsense and it’s godly wisdom.” (James 4:4)

QUESTIONS / ISSUES DISCUSSED:

Yesterday, Pastor Riling discussed the inspirational life of Dave Busby. His story is so moving, that we are replaying a few minutes of that testimony today. Click here https://www.youtube.com/@davebusby3113 to view some of his sermons on YouTube.

GOD WANTS YOUR HEART (Psalm 139:23-24)

We can do all the works and all the things and talk about God all the time, but it doesn’t mean anything if we haven’t given Him our heart! So, why does God want us to give Him our heart? Pastor Scott explains why “self-deception” is so dangerous.

What is in your heart? What if God opened your heart and showed others your desires? Yikes! I know that thought is scary to me!

How can we change our hearts, though? How can we gain His righteousness? How can we live our lives to live for Him alone?

GOD TOOK GREAT CARE CREATING US (Psalm 139:13-15)

Why do we exist?

Is a baby in the womb a “real human being”? Pastor Riling passionately reminds us that every person is formed by God – beginning in a mother’s womb.

GOD ALWAYS HAS YOU ON HIS MIND (Psalm 139:17-18)

Does God really think about us?

Martin Luther wrote the hymn, “A Mighty Fortress is Our God”, which sparked the Protestant Reformation. What happened, though, after he wrote it? Was life all sunshine and roses? Or did he receive threats on his life? Was he full of fear and anxiety?

What is the answer to fear and anxiety? What can we do when the walls are crumbling down around us? What if we feel like we can’t breathe? Pastor Jarrett shares some great encouragement: “Don't let the twin towers of fear and anxiety move you. Instead, let whatever is causing fear and anxiety remind you that God is on the move.”

Most fathers want to protect their family, especially their children, from the evils of the world. Can this be accomplished, though, without the help and guidance from God?

What is the devil’s goal for humanity? (Genesis 3) Pastor Jarrett passionately rebukes the perversion that is being shoved in our faces, saying: “If we’re not careful, our children can catch a window into hell at such an early age that it can trip them up…that for years can take them down a road that we would never want our children and our grandchildren to go down.
