Scripture Passage: Mark 10:46-52

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Jesus met the man’s need.

What did Bartimaeus ask Jesus to do? How did he know that Jesus could heal him?
Why did Jesus stop when Bartimaeus cried out to him?
Was the crowd surprised when Jesus stopped to speak to Bartimaeus?
What is the significance of Bartimaeus throwing off his cloak?
Jesus knew what Bartimaeus needed/wanted. Why did Jesus have him voice his request?

Jesus changed the man forever.

Was the transformation in Bartimaeus immediate?
What did Bartimaeus do after Jesus healed him?
James Morrison: “Bartimaeus’s physical restoration was also a manifestation of what was occurring spiritually inside of him.”
How was Bartimaeus’s life changed forever? Scripture reveals that he followed Jesus to Jerusalem, experienced his death and resurrection, and then became a leader in the Early Church.

Scripture References: Luke 18:43; 2 Corinthians 4:4

Scripture Passage: Mark 10:46-52

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Jesus met a man (Bartimaeus) in need
. (Continued from Monday and Tuesday)
Why did Mark specifically mention Bartimaeus’s father’s name?
Why did Bartimaeus cry out to Jesus? How did he know who Jesus was?
Why did the crowd try to silence Bartimaeus? What was his response?
Pastor Jarrett admits that he is baffled why so many people, even the disciples, didn’t trust in Jesus’ timing. He says: “If this passage teaches us anything, it’s that Jesus has time, especially for those who are broken and hurting.”

Jesus met the man’s need.

Was the crowd going to keep the Bartimaeus from Jesus? Could they keep Jesus from Bartimaeus?
What did Bartimaeus ask Jesus to do? How did he know that Jesus could heal it?
Why did Jesus stop when Bartimaeus cried out to him?
