QUESTIONS / ISSUES DISCUSSED:

THE PARABLE OF THE TALENTS Matthew 25:14-30
What is a steward? (1 Corinthians 4:1-2) Why should we be careful with what God entrusts us with? When you reach the pearly gates, will God say to you “Well done, good and faithful servant”?

QUESTIONS TO PONDER:
Are you honoring God with your daily business dealings – with your work?
Are you honoring God with your wealth?
Are you honoring God with your people skills?
Are you honoring God with your problem-solving skills?
Are you honoring God with the way you are raising your children?
Are you honoring God with your spiritual gift that is to be used for the purpose of advancing the Kingdom of God? (Luke 12:48b)

Why does Champion Forest practice a 5-talent kind of obedience?

HOW TO STRENGTHEN THE CHURCH: Giving

What is the Great Commitment? Pastor Jarrett explains his intent behind this, specifically the purpose of each individual church within The Church. (Matthew 16)

Can God strengthen His Church without us? Yes, but…

Why should we care what other churches are doing for the Kingdom?

THE PARABLE OF THE TALENTS Matthew 25:14-30
How can we make sure that we are doing our part?
What did the rich man entrust his servants with?
Does God entrust us with “things” – talents, resources, etc.?
What is a steward? (1 Corinthians 4:1-2)
Should we be careful with what God entrusts us with?

QUESTIONS / ISSUES DISCUSSED:

Pastor Jarrett begins the sermon reminiscing about his last trip to Israel, showing a great visual of Caesarea Philippi, the location of one of the largest springs feeding the Jordan River. He will preach more on this later in his sermon. Click the link above and fast-forward to the 45-minute mark to view the pictures. He also discusses the significance of the false god, Pan, who was generally represented as a vigorous and lustful figure having the horns, legs, and ears of a goat. He does NOT show picture of Pan, because he is pretty scary looking!

Why was the conversation Jesus had with his disciples at Caesarea Philippi one the most important conversations he had?

What is the purpose of The Church? What is the purpose of each individual church? What is important? What areas can be handled through another church or organization? Pastor Jarrett offers a short review of the past few weeks. Tune in tomorrow as he continues to preach on Focus Priority #3: The Great Commitment.

Love is expressed in empathy
. (Luke 10:33)
Pray for a sympathetic heart – a soft heart.

Love is expressed in action. (Luke 10:34)
Connect with people. Do what you love and makes you happy.

Love is expressed in sacrifice. (Luke 10:35)
Serving means giving some things up. But remember the blessing you will receive in return.

QUESTIONS / ISSUES DISCUSSED:

Loving our community doesn’t mean we meet every need that is presented to us.
We all feel guilty saying NO to someone who needs our help. This is no different for churches.
Why is it okay to say NO sometimes? Pastor Jarrett shares several reasons why…
Is it okay to partner with other churches and organizations in the community? ABSOLUTELY!

Loving our community doesn’t mean just doing good works.
When Jesus was asked to heal a paralyzed man, what did he do first? (Mark 2:1-12) Pastor Jarrett writes in his sermon: “Spiritual healing precedes physical healing. This is how Jesus worked and we want to model his example.”
What is the “spiritual secret sauce” to lives being changed? (James 2:14-18)
Why is it important for Christians to demonstrate Christ’s love, not just speak it? (Luke 10:29-37 The Parable of the Good Samaritan)

Who is our neighbor? Pastor Jarrett believes that Jesus responds with this question: Who can you be a neighbor to?

Martin Luther King Jr. once asked: “Life's most persistent and urgent question is: 'What are you doing for others?'”

But what if we are misunderstood?
But what if we’re called intolerant?
Pastor Jarrett offers some encouragement and reminder that Jesus LOVED people – EVERY person – no matter what. We should, too.

Do you look more like Jesus today than you did yesterday?

Are you passing on the love of Jesus to others around you? 2 Tim 2:2 “And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.” Pastor Jarrett likens this to putting something in a safe deposit box.

What is the best way to disciple someone? (Proverbs 27:17)

Why did Jesus make disciples? Pastor Jarrett explains why Jesus did what he did and gives several examples. He says: “Information without mobilization leads to dead orthodoxy.” WOW! Think about that for a minute…

Will Satan do everything in his power to keep us from discipling others? ABSOLUTELY! Pastor Jarrett likes to say: “Be intentional and keep the main thing the main thing!”

How do we know about God’s Kingdom on earth? (Daniel 7:13-14)

What were the people thinking – wanting – looking for? What are YOU thinking – wanting – looking for?

Was Jesus what the people expected?

What does KINGDOM mean? The realm of God’s rule and reign. Graeme Goldsworthy, an Anglican theologian from Australia, wrote in his book, “Gospel and Kingdom” about the Kingdom of God: "God's people in God's place under God's rule."

What is the only way to enter the Kingdom of God?

How can we make the Kingdom of God a reality to others?

What will the Kingdom of God be like? Pastor Jarrett says: “There will be no more pain and no more night and no more sorrow and no more sin… He will reign in his Kingdom. And all of his ways will be followed and his will be done on earth because it is Heaven!”

QUESTIONS / ISSUES DISCUSSED:

Pastor Jarrett uses the beginning of his sermon to share about the vision of Champion Forest Baptist Church. If you do not attend CFBC, hopefully your church has a similar passion for the community and the world.

If you have never accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, text the word JESUS to 77069 and a pastor or counselor from CFBC will call you back.
