Title: Long Term: Which Side Has the Advantage: Muslim Terrorists or Israel?
Topic: Peace in the Middle East
Discussed by Professor Dr. Earl Tilford
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Part 1 of 2

Professor Dr. Earl Tilford recently wrote: “The current fighting in Gaza rapidly approaches total war intensity. Strategy for Hamas has always involved the total war objective of annihilating Israel. For Israel, fighting Hamas and Hezbollah, which is based in Lebanon and Syria, involves a long, protracted but limited war of attrition. This may be changing.”

Today, Dr. Tilford discusses the escalating situation and what the future may hold for the Middle East.

Click here for more information on this topic.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Does Israel seek lasting peace?

Do terrorists see weakness in the current US administration?

Do some Arab countries fear the Hamas and their missiles? Do those same Arab countries fear Israel and their missiles?

What is the endgame for Muslim terrorist organizations, specifically the Hamas? What objective is clearly stated in their handbook?

Can there be a lasting cease fire when the Hamas are determined to obliterate Israel?

The Hamas uses terror as a tool. How have their tactics adapted over the years?

Do Muslim terrorists utilize the main stream media to their advantage?

If the Hamas had the military advantage, would they agree to a cease fire?

Topic: Peace in the Middle East
Discussed by Professor Dr. Earl Tilford
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Questions/Issues Discussed:

From 1993 to 2001, Dr. Tilford served as Director of Research at the U.S. Army’s Strategic Studies Institute. What was this experience like?

Did Israel deplete its stock of missiles for what is called “The Iron Dome”? Will the US restock their needed supply?

Is Israel a nation of well-armed citizens trained in warfare?

How does Israel destroy an enemy who hides behind women and children, firing weapons from inside hospitals, churches, and even ambulances? Will the war resort to a bloody boots-on-the-ground battle?

Will Israel survive future Muslim attacks without aid from the US?

Title: The Dawn of the American Twilight
Topic: War
Discussed by Professor Dr. Earl Tilford
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Part 1 of 2

Professor Dr. Earl Tilford is a top expert on war and military strategy. He served as Director of Research at the U.S. Army’s Strategic Studies Institute from 1993 to 2001. Dr. Tilford then left government service to teach military history, national security, and international and domestic terrorism and counter-terrorism at Grove City College.

Today, Dr. Tilford discusses a true story from his time in Vietnam – a time he calls the Dawn of the American Twilight.

Click here to read more from Dr. Tilford on this topic.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Did soldiers of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam invade Laos under air cover from the US Air Force?

Dr. Tilford was charged with preparing the morning intelligence briefings for the Major General. Did the MG run the air operations in Northern Laos?

Was he actually in charge of this? If not, who was? Were they qualified to run this?

Did Dr. Tilford face political correctness in his word choices for the intelligence briefings?

Did the battles to control the Ho Chi Minh Trail epitomize American folly and hubris? Dr. Tilford calls it a “magnificent failure”.

Title: Part 2 of 2 -The Dawn of the American Twilight
Topic: War
Discussed by Professor Dr. Earl Tilford
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Fifty years ago, Dr. Tilford witnessed and lived thru the Dawn of the American Twilight. Listen as he reveals more from this experience.

Do great powers go to war to withdraw their forces and leave an ally in the breach?

After Vietnam, Dr. Tilford served as Director of Research at the U.S. Army’s Strategic Studies Institute. How did he use history to make a better future?

Are those who do not know history bound to repeat/relive its mistakes?

If the Vietnam war constituted the “Dawn of the American Twilight” as a great power, is our nation now at the edge of an American nightmare from which there will be no morning after?

Title: Is Your Heavenly Home Ready, or Still Under Construction?
Topic: Heavenly Home: Ready or Under Construction
Discussed by Prof. Gary Scott Smith
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Is your heavenly home ready for occupancy or is it still under construction.

Our parents and grandparents dealt with death in their homes for many back before 1945 died at home. Today, we have sanitized death and moved it out of view. Unless the rapture occurs and we meet Jesus in the air, we are all appointed someday to die. Then what?

Should we all live today as if it might be our last?

Title: Wars of the Future
Topic: War
Discussed by Professor Dr. Earl Tilford
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

War is a conflict of forces in which the goal is to compel the enemy to do your will. Since the Civil War, American Generals have brought overwhelming power in countless battles. However, Dr. Earl Tilford says it will take more than just power to defeat terrorists like ISIS. It is going to take intelligence. America is going to need a strategic plan to fight and ultimately defeat them.

Dr.

Listen in as Dr. Tilford explains the different types of wars we have fought, are currently fighting, and will face in the future, specifically cyber warfare. For example, an electromagnetic pulse can be caused by nuclear detonations in the atmosphere and could shut down all aspects of electric power in a country. China and Russia can definitely pull off this type of attack; it is even possible that North Korea and Iran could very soon. Scary stuff, people. Scary, scary stuff.

Title: Is an American Crusade on the Horizon?
Topic: New Crusade Needed Now
Discussed by Professor Dr. Earl Tilford
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Is an American Crusade needed? Dr. Earl Tilford is a military historian and fellow for the Middle East & Terrorism with The Center for Vision & Values at Grove City College. A retired Air Force Intelligence Officer, from 1993 to 2001, he served as Director of Research at the U.S. Army’s Strategic Studies Institute.

Dr. Tilford says, “The logical end to a war is the final destruction of one of the combatants.” The Christian crusades began in response when the Muslims swept into the Holy Land and attacked the people. The Christians didn’t “start” the Crusade; they were simply defending themselves and the Holy Land.

Dr. Tilford discusses several other Crusades throughout history, including The Civil War and The Cold War. Dr. Tilford calls these wars “existential threats” and explains why he labels them as such, saying, “Human nature is by itself barbaric.

He is also very concerned about Obama’s recent comment comparing the Christian Crusades to ISIS. Many feel the same way. Why? Dr. Tilford discusses what America must do to defeat ISIS and Al Qaeda once and for all.

Title: Which Bathroom did Klinger Use?
Topic: Transgender Agenda
Discussed by Dr. Joseph Horton
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Which bathroom did Klinger from MASH use? He always “claimed” to be a woman, but I never saw him try to use the woman’s bathroom!

Dr. Joseph Horton is Professor of Psychology at Grove City College and the Working Group Coordinator for Marriage and Family with The Center for Vision & Values. He is also a researcher on Positive Youth Development. He is with us today to answer the question: “Is ‘claiming’ to be a woman enough evidence for a man to use the woman’s bathroom?” In regards to Klinger, the other actors and actresses on MASH simply ignored his tendencies to dress and act like a woman.

“Things that we used to figure were just common sense, people are now telling us are wrong,” Dr. Horton says. Young girls in middle and high school are now being told they must be tolerant of boys who wish to be in the girl’s bathroom and locker room. Dr. Horton says, “Changing the rules in this case is damaging to both groups of people.” He goes to discuss brain development and why children cannot possibly be mature enough to evaluate their gender.

Title: A Fixer Upper Project of the Heart
Topic: Fixer Upper for the Heart
Discussed by Dr. Lisa Hosack
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Part 1 of 2

Why do so many people love The Fixer Upper Project with Chip and Joanna Gaines? Why is it so compelling and relatable to millions of people? After all, it’s just another TV show about two people buying old houses and making them new again. Or is it…?

New guest Dr. Lisa Hosack, with the Center for Vision and Values at Grove City College, is admittedly a fan of the show. She says, “The relationship between Chip and Joanna is obviously a very warm and affectionate one. I think what it taps into is something in the viewer that really longs for that level of connection and intimacy with others.

We all long for a “good life”. Chip and Joanna seem to have it all. All marriages have their issues, and I’m sure theirs is no different. However, Dr. Hosack, being an Assistant Professor of Sociology and Social Work, can spot a “fake couple” a mile away. Chip and Joanna do not fit that mold. Dr. Hosack says, “Our culture, in many different ways, offers ‘cultural liturgies’. They offer us something that the heart is looking for. Sometimes that can help us understand why we attach to something deeply.” Listen in as Dr. Hosack discusses this show really connects with people of different levels.

Many of Chip and Joanna’s home renovations feature a new “open space” concept, allowing home owners to entertain with ease. This “open space” perception in a home flows into our daily lives. In this modern day, even with all our fancy technology, we still feel so “disconnected” to our family and friends. As a sociologist, she says: “There is a real deep longing for community connection.” She will explain more in the second segment, so listen in!

Title: Part 2 of 2 - A Fixer Upper Project of the Heart
Topic: Fixer Upper for the Heart
Discussed by Dr. Lisa Hosack
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Do you know who your neighbors are? Not just their first name and if they have kids or not. Do you really know them? What about the members of your Bible study or Sunday School class? How many times have you invited a couple or two over for a game night?

We all long for community and to connect with those around us. That is why “The Fixer Upper Project” is so popular among all ages, from kids to grandparents. Dr. Lisa Hosack says, “We’ve been hardwired for relationality. When those needs go untapped, that has implications for us.” One thing that people who participate in the TV show have in common is “relationship connectivity”.

Some people – too many people – are afraid to entertain in their homes, though, because it isn’t “magazine perfect”. Who cares? Dr. Hosack agrees that your home does not have to be perfect to have fun! Nobody really cares what your couch looks like or if you have a cobweb in the corner. You also don’t have to have “wide open spaces”. “The spirit of hospitality is all in the spirit, not in the physical space,” she believes.

More importantly, however, Dr. Hosack reminds us that we cannot obtain “the good life” overnight. In fact, if you’re looking for the “perfect life” stop looking! It doesn’t exist. Reaching any goal takes time and effort. It’s a “slow, tedious renovation of the heart and attitude”, she says. We must remember that we are loving another human being who has many flaws just like we do. Marriage takes time and effort.

Title: Why Would Anyone Want to President?
Topic: Presidential Politics
Discussed by Prof. Gary Scott Smith
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

The role of the Presidency has changed dramatically since the days of Washington and Abraham Lincoln. There is no doubt, however, that being the President of the United States is the toughest and most challenging job on the planet. Professor Gary Scott Smith states: “The pressures presidents face are immense, and the scrutiny, second-guessing, and ridicule to which they are subjected is intense and never-ending. Those willing to pursue this office must either have very thick skin, a huge ego, the ability to ignore criticism, a strong conviction that they can make the world better through their service, or all of these things.”

The role of the President has always been a daunting challenge. In the early days, we weren’t certain our country would even survive. Then the Civil War came and pitted brother against brother. Now, the world looks to the United States as not only the world leader, but also as the world policeman and even the world humanitarian.

Even many Americans believe that it is the responsibility of the President to “fix things” and that the President has the power to do anything he wants to do. That just isn’t true – or even possible, as Professor Smith explains. “This is very unrealistic. The President can have an impact on the state of the economy, but there are many worldwide and domestic factors that are simply beyond his control.”

Professor Gary Scott Smith also discusses how a person’s family is affected when they run for the Presidency. It certainly isn’t fair, but their family will be scrutinized under the microscope; everything they do or say will be watched, photographed, and recorded. It only gets worse once they actually obtain the role as President. This all needs to be taken into consideration. They will live in a glass house for the rest of their lives. “Ideally, the President should be allowed to have a private life….We are subjecting him to even greater pressure… and we will potentially destroy his physical and mental health,” Professor Smith believes. He goes on to discuss vacations and the need for down-time.

One more issue discusses in this segment is the importance of praying for the President and all people in leadership roles in our government. It doesn’t matter if you love them or hate them – pray for them constantly. “It’s a Biblical command!” Professor Smith declares.

Professor Gary Scott Smith is the author of "Religion in the Oval Office", “Faith and the Presidency From George Washington to George W. Bush”, "Religion in the Oval Office" and “Heaven in the American Imagination”. For more posts and information about Professor Smith, click here.

Title: Is Trump a “Good” Example of a Christian?
Topic: Donald Trump
Discussed by Prof. Gary Scott Smith
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Russell Moore, the head of the Southern Baptist Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, calls Donald Trump “an unrepentant serial adulterer who has abandoned two wives for other women” and “spoken in vulgar and harsh terms about women, as well as in ugly and hateful ways about immigrants and other minorities.” Moreover, Moore protests, much of Trump’s wealth has been derived through an “industry that preys on the poor and incentivizes immoral and often criminal behavior.”

Dr. Gary Scott Smith is the author of several best-selling books, including “Religion in the Oval Office” and “Faith and the Presidency”. For today’s interview, Dr. Smith will focusing on The Donald – his faith, or lack thereof – and why so many Evangelical Christians are so gung-ho to see him as POTUS. It is confusing to Dr. Smith why Christians like Donald Trump so much. “He simply does not adopt many of the policies a lot of Evangelicals favor,” he says.

FACT: Donald has stated, on record, that he has “not asked God to forgive me of my sins”. He goes on to say that when he “does something wrong, he just tries to move on, never asking God to forgive him.” We need to pray that God will get a hold of Donald Trump’s heart and he will having a life-saving experience.

So what makes The Donald so appealing to Christians? Dr. Smith believes it is his bluntness. Trump is not afraid to speak his mind and expose the media’s lies. “He comes across as a bold leader and is talking about making America strong again,” Dr. Smith says. This really resonates with Christians, but Dr. Smith cringes at the thought of President Donald Trump.

Title: Multicultural Moral Relativism
Topic: Multicultural Moral Relativism
Discussed by Dr. Marvin Folkertsma
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Disclaimer: We STRONGLY urge you to use caution when listening to this segment. This segment is definitely NOT something you want to explain to young children. However, it is very important for us ALL to understand the atrocities which occur in the Middle East (and even here in America) within in the Muslim culture. If the information in this segment concerns you, get involved!

Every religion has certain customs and traditions that are centuries old. Some are good, benefiting society as whole. Some traditions, however, are horrific and brutal and should never have precedence over the law of the land.

Dr. Marvin Folkertsma is a retired professor of political science and fellow for American studies with The Center for Vision & Values at Grove City College. First, Dr. Folkertsma discusses a 19th century Hindu tradition which was outrageous, even for that time period. A British Commander was asked if this tradition was right or wrong. Listen in as Dr. Folkertsma reveals his epic response!

Now, on to the main focus of today’s interview: Two American Marines have been condemned by the US Government for their actions against an Afghan soldier who beat a mother, kidnapped her young son, and brutally raped the young boy over and over again. Dr. Folkertsma reveals how these two brave Marines had previously tried working with the Afghan authorities to stop this type of abuse to no avail. When the young boy’s mother approached them, they couldn’t sit idly by and do nothing. What happened next is disgusting…

From a moral point of view…it was the case that our soldiers were right,” Dr. Folkertsma. Even the Afghan authorities applauded the Marines’ actions! So why is the US Government going after their own soldiers? Dr. Marvin Folkertsma believes that if the US government continues down this destructive path we will only be contributing to our own suicide. “We are seeing a transformation in this country that is breathtaking…It represents the loss of what Lincoln once referred to as ‘the last best hope of men’.”

Title: The Comforter-In-Chief
Topic: Religion and the Presidency
Discussed by Prof. Gary Scott Smith
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Part 1 of 2

Please keep an open mind and an open heart when listening to these two segments, no matter what your preconceived opinion may be.

President Obama’s religious faith is often misunderstood. Is he a Muslim? Is he a Christian? Does he affiliate with a specific type of religion at all? Over the past six years, Obama has been called on numerous times to unify and encourage our nation in times of great sorrow. The latest display was the eulogy he gave for Pastor Clementa Pinckney, who pastored the church in Charleston where eight others were murdered.

Professor Gary Scott Smith has researched and written about the faith of many of our Presidents in an attempt to better understand them and their political tendencies. Today, he is here to discuss President Obama’s faith and the common misconceptions about what he believes.

Professor Smith says, “Every President tries to influence voters and Congress and the press. They’re going to use every weapon at their disposal to achieve that and religious rhetoric still carries weight with a lot of American people.” But does Obama have too much influence from too many varieties of religious leaders to have a clear head when it comes to faith in God?

Many Christians have begun questioning President Obama’s Christian faith due to his support of homosexual marriage and abortion, as well as his attitude toward social justice and equal rights. He often cites God’s grace to humanity as the foundation of his faith.

Title: Political Commencement Speeches
Topic: Political Correctness
Discussed by Dr. Bob DiMuccio
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

This time of year, we see and hear a lot of news stories concerning graduation. Some are sad but courageous stories.  There are thousands of sappy, wonderful soldiers-coming-to-their-loved-one’s graduation videos on Youtube.   And you can find many graduation speeches by celebrities or famous men and women, like this great one.

This segment about a graduation ceremony will not make you cry tears of joy or cheer for the underdog. It will, however, probably cause some anger, resentment, and head shaking. Dr. Bob DiMuccio discusses a speech given at Dickinson College, an elite liberal arts college in central PA. The speaker, Mark Ruffalo  aka The Hulk, received an award for “global environmental activism”.

Here are some quotes from Mark Ruffalo’s speech, just to give you an idea of what young people tout as plausible and true: “We have climate change, we have a mass sort of imbalanced corporatization, these lead to environmental degradation and also social-justice issues. And they’re all coming to a head.” He also told the students to “act up, be misbehaved (sic), buck the system, and fight for what you believe in.” Everyone knew he was talking about climate change.

Even the person who introduced Mark for his “reward” was visibly exasperated with those who do not wholeheartedly agree with the left’s climate change hysteria. In fact, Sam Rose said, “We need to bring people to our way of thinking by hook or by crook.

The real hero of the day, however, was author and speaker Ian McEwan. He was extremely truthful in his commencement speech. He held nothing back. In stark contrast to Ruffalo and Rose urging the graduates to push for their agenda, McEwan reminded the audience that free speech is vital to the survival of America. Dr. Bob DiMuccio says McEwan’s speech was “a thoughtful, poignant, unabashed, and courageous defense of free speech.”

You can view the great speech by Ian McEwan [here].

Title: The Faith of the President of America
Topic: Religion and the Presidency
Discussed by Prof. Gary Scott Smith
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

In February, we celebrate the births of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, two presidents whose deep but somewhat unconventional faith has evoked great debate. But, does the faith of a President really matter? Does it significantly affect how they think, live, and govern? Concluding that it does not, most biographers have treated presidents’ religious convictions as no more important than hobbies such as collecting stamps or playing golf.

Professor Gary Scott Smith believes that the faith of a President does, in fact, matter; it matters a great deal. “We should all pay close attention to the faith of Presidential candidates…particularly asking them how their faith impacts their policies and what they would do while they are in office,” he says.

Professor Smith also considers that a President’s active worship, prayer life, time spent reading the Bible, church attendance, and the types of religious leaders they consult greatly affect their decisions as a President. Prayer is essential. Abraham Lincoln said that he was “driven to his knees many times by not having anywhere else to go”.

America obviously does not have a “Pastor-In-Chief”, so the President often becomes the beacon of life, light, and hope for the nation. The faith of a President shows on his sleeve; it impacts the nation as a whole, no matter what that faith may be.

Title: Higher Wages = Less Jobs
Topic: Minimum Wage
Discussed by Dr. Tracy Miller
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Part 1 of 2

Dr. Miller is an associate professor of economics at Grove City College and fellow for economic theory and policy with The Center for Vision & Values. He has released a report on “Overcoming Stagnant Wages: Stronger Unions and Higher Minimum Wages are Not the Answer”.

Too often today in the exchange of different viewpoints, when one side begins to win the debate with sound facts, the other side resorts to attacking the presenter. Dr. Miller’s opinion on the minimum wage debate is obviously not very popular. CNN and NBC sure aren’t going to be calling him for an interview any time soon!

Concerning the stagnant wage cycle we’ve been hearing about, Dr. Miller reveals how, since 1979, wages have not risen as rapidly as productivity, with the exception from 1995-2000 when wages rose very rapidly. But where did that get us? Right now, in America, we are at a historic low for men in the work-force, largely in part to the rise in minimum wage and hiring foreign workers.

Dr. Miller also discusses “wage inequality” and breaks down the different population brackets. He believes that education most definitely affects your income. Just because you think you deserve a certain amount of money, doesn’t mean you should get it. Tune in to the next segment with Dr. Miller as he discusses this further.

Title: Part 2 of 2 - Higher Wages = Less Jobs
Topic: Minimum Wage
Discussed by Dr. Tracy Miller
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Dr. Tracy Miller continues with his discussion on the risks of raising the minimum wage. Historically, when the minimum wage is increased, the lowest skilled workers lose their jobs,” says Dr. Miller. Also, business owners who might hire three or four extra workers during the summer time might only hire one. This causes the employment numbers to plummet. In addition, “wage inequality” is going to exist in every society, no matter how hard the government tries to intervene.

Some experts are now saying that we are actually doing teens and college students a disservice by raising the minimum wage. They can’t find a job while in high school or college, therefore if they do in fact graduate from college with a degree, it is difficult for them to find a job – whether in their field or not – because they have little to no work experience at all. Dr. Tracy Miller agrees with this statement. Listen in as he elaborates.

Another concern when the minimum wage is increased is the number of businesses which will move their business operations overseas. America doesn’t need foreign workers doing their jobs – here or abroad. We need to get America back to work and raising the minimum wage is not the answer. Dr Miller has some suggestions on how we can get Americans back to work.

Title: A Golden Anniversary of Bad Decisions
Topic: Vietnam War Decisions Reviewed
Discussed by Professor Dr. Earl Tilford
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Superior forces burdened by flawed strategy, even with a decided technological edge, will lose to an enemy driven by desperation or fanaticism and willing to bear the cost. If the weaker side prolongs the conflict despite losing most of the battles, it still can win the war. Example: The Americans during the Revolutionary War.

Dr. Earl Tilford is a military historian and fellow for the Middle East & terrorism with The Center for Vision & Values at Grove City College. A retired Air Force intelligence officer, Dr. Tilford earned his PhD in American and European military history at George Washington University. From 1993 to 2001, he served as Director of Research at the U.S. Army’s Strategic Studies Institute.

Did we actually learn anything from the Vietnam War? Today, Dr. Tilford discusses military strategy and how you win a war. Wars are not won by sitting on the sidelines, not fighting. Dr. Tilford believes we need to learn from the mistakes made in Vietnam when fighting ISIS and Al Qaida. “We’re fighting non-state actors who will not obey the rules of war,” he says. “Most military forces protect their citizens; these soldiers use their citizens to protect them!”

Dr. Tilford goes on to discuss how we must realize the real threat our enemy poses and understand their goals. “When you get sick, you develop a strategy to combat the disease in your body. This is how we need to view our enemy – as a disease, and we need a strategy before it’s too late,” Dr. Tilford proclaims.

Dr.

Title: Is the GOP Still a Religious Party?
Topic: Republican Party Politics
Discussed by Brad Tupi
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

The majority (61%) of Protestants voted Republican, while 37% voted Democrat in the 2014 mid-term elections. Catholics voted 54% Republican and 45% Democrat. Those who do not identify with a certain religion voted 69% Democrat.

Brad Tupi, an attorney and contributor for the Grove City College Center for Vision and Values, says these numbers aren’t that surprising, especially when you start breaking each group down into race, how often they attend (or don’t attend) church, and how they view social and moral issues.

Sad Fact: Voter turnout for the 2014 November mid-term election was only 36%. This is the lowest voter turnout since World War II.

Listen in as Brad discusses how pastors should – and can – talk about political issues from the pulpit. Yes they can!

Title: It'S Not the Dog Fight That Matters. It's the Size of the Dog.
Topic: ISIS
Discussed by Professor Dr. Earl Tilford
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Part 1 of 2

Obama seems more interested in his golf score than the threat from ISIS. The MSM is all but ignoring the situation. They don’t believe we have a problem. Obama has appointed a totally incompetent person who has no experience to head the “strategic movement” or lack thereof.

Many Americans view war as bloody, many lives lost, guns and tanks firing aimlessly into cities and crowds. They don’t view war as beheadings, hangings, kidnapping, or enslavement. Dr. Earl Tilford says that is exactly what war is, though. ISIS is daring us to attack them, and attack them we must. Terrorism is a form of war and ISIS is a terrorist organization.

The Iraqis and Kurds are doing the best they can with what they have, and they are doing an excellent job. But it is simply not enough. Time usually works in favor of the underdog, in this case – ISIS. They are organized, motivated, and have a mission: to kill as many people as possible. We can send a bomb to a specific area and kill one or two or even twenty, but what is really going to stop ISIS in their tracks are boots on the ground.

Dr. Earl Tilford is a military historian and fellow for the Middle East and Terrorism with The Center for Vision and Values. From 1993 to 2001, Dr. Tilford served as Director of Research at the U.S. Army’s Strategic Studies Institute. Listen in as he explains the real threat from ISIS and what he believes the US should be doing.

Title: Part 2 of 2 - It'S Not the Dog Fight That Matters. It's the Size of the Dog.
Topic: ISIS
Discussed by Professor Dr. Earl Tilford
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Alexander the Great once said, “I fear an army of sheep led by a lion more than I fear an army of lions led by a sheep.”

Right now, the American military (the lions) are being led by a sheep (Obama). He has no desire to put boots on the ground to fight ISIS. We should be helping the Iraqi army and the Kurds. We should be sending them weapons. We should be there, fighting along with them against ISIS and those who align themselves with the terrorists.

We have the training, the weapons, and the will, but our leaders won’t allow us to utilize our talents and purpose for the good of our country and the world. The biggest concern right now, for them, is the November 4 election.

Dr. Earl Tilford also cautions that if America and our allies watch and do nothing, the entire world will be giving praise to Allah within a century. This is not a far-fetched ideal from some crazy nut job. There are many others who believe this, as well.

There are some, specifically Libertarians, who want America to just butt out of the entire ISIS ordeal. But we cannot just leave ISIS alone and let the Middle East duke it out. If we do, then who will help us when ISIS begins to behead and hang people on American soil?

Title: War: A Matter of Semantics
Topic: War on Terror
Discussed by Professor Dr. Earl Tilford
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

President John F. Kennedy once stated “Mankind must put an end to war, or war will put an end to mankind.”

Carl von Clausewitz said this of war: “War is an act of force to compel the enemy to do your will.”

So, which is better? Is there a wrong or right way to look at war? Is it good or bad? Dr. Earl Tilford is a retired Air Force Intelligence Office, a military historian, and a fellow for the Middle East & terrorism with The Center for Vision & Values at Grove City College.

In today’s segment, Dr. Tilford discusses past wars, the objectives, the effects on civilians, the outcomes, and what has happened since. He also discusses what really happens in war zones – it’s not all about bombs and guns and dying.

What about ISIS, the Israel/Palestine conflict, drug cartels, and other threats to America and around the world? When Dr. Tilford was with the US Army Strategic Studies Institute, his group foresaw many of these threats which are occurring today. In his opinion, the main objective of ISIS is to run the US out of the region. Once the US is forced out, ISIS will take over the region dominating the Sunnis and Shiites, then they will branch out into Asia and Europe, eventually spreading to every corner of the globe by the end of this century.

Listen in to hear what Dr. Tilford says about what the Obama administration is NOT doing right and what he believes will happen in the very near future.

Title: The Difference between Strategy and Tactic
Topic: Military Strategy and Tactics
Discussed by Professor Dr. Earl Tilford
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Mr. President, America cannot handle an attack from ISIS. We must be proactive. The world needs a country that will lead, not blindly follow. Right now, we are blindly following – or blindly doing absolutely nothing, in my opinion.

Dr. Earl Tilford is a military historian and fellow for the Middle East and Terrorism with The Center for Vision and Values at Grove City College. He has a strong opinion about Obama’s position concerning ISIS – or lack of position, that is.

Dr. Tilford first describes the difference between military strategy and tactic. Strategy is why you are fighting and tactic is how you win a war. Our military MUST have a strategical plan and tactical plan. Dr. Tilford says Obama is too focused on dealing with domestic issues (and golfing) than facing real threats.

Now, if you’re like me, you might wonder why some news reports talk about ISIL as opposed to ISIS. What is the difference? Dr. Tilford also describes the differences in containing ISIS, controlling ISIS, marginalizing ISIS, defeating ISIS, and pounding them into the ground until they wave the flag. Sometimes threats will work to destroy an enemy, but will that work with ISIS? These terrorists are willing to die for their cause, no matter what. So how should Obama handle this threat?

Listen in as Dr. Tilford explains and share this segment with all your Facebook, Google Plus, and Twitter contacts. For more on this and other issues, log on to www.VisionAndValues.org.

Title: The Politics of Envy
Topic: Politics and Money
Discussed by Dr. Joseph Horton
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

It is not by chance that the United States is a wealthy country. We have become a wealthy country because for most of our history we have had relatively low taxes (when rates were high there were huge loopholes), limited regulation, the rule of law, and relatively little corruption.

No one is arguing that there should be no government, or that no tax revenue should be collected. Limited government, however, provides the freedom for entrepreneurs to provide solutions to people’s problems and improve their lives. If our elected officials would in humility stop trying to engineer fairness, step back and let Americans create wealth, the middle class could thrive again.

Dr. Joseph Horton is a Professor of Psychology at Grove City College and the Working Group Coordinator for Marriage and Family with The Center for Vision & Values. He wrote a fantastic editorial on the Politics of Envy. Listen in as he explains.

Title: Where Would You Cut Defense Spending? How Would You Re-Structure?
Topic: Pending Defense Department Funding Cuts
Discussed by Professor Dr. Earl Tilford
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Part 2

The current debt crisis could force drastic cuts in the Department of Defense budget, perhaps as high as 50 percent. Where would you cut?

Does the U.S. military need massive restructuring? Its current structure originated with the reforms instituted in 1903 after the Spanish-American war. Now, the armed forces of the United States would be hard-pressed to counter a North Korean invasion of South Korea without using nuclear weapons.

Today we are fighting a primitive foe that has drained us of money, men and munitions. The task of new Congressional leaders will be “How to Restructure the Department of Defense”?

After nearly ninety days, has life returned to normal for all in Tuscaloosa?

One-sixth of all housing in Tuscaloosa was destroyed by the powerful tornado and storms near the end of April.

Are there still opportunities for individuals, businesses, civic organizations, and churches to travel to Tuscaloosa and help with the re-building? The simple answer is: YES!

Contact your favorite organization for more details, such as Operation Blessing, the Salvation Army, and/or your church.

Title: Should Minors Be Allowed To Purchase Violent Video Games Without Parental Permission?
Topic: Parental Rights
Discussed by Dr. Joseph Horton
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Part 1

The Supreme Court recently stated that because of Freedom of Speech, 13-year-olds have the right to purchase violent video games WITHOUT parental permission?

Dr. Horton discusses the subtle effects of what we watch…do we become what we watch, probably not. But do we become desensitized and more accepting? Question: why do advertisers advertise? Because their ads are affective in changing our behavior!

Why are so many kids so aggressive, argumentative, and promote to anger?

Title: Part 2 of 2
Topic: Parental Rights
Discussed by Dr. Joseph Horton
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

We endure a lot of ugliness to protect our right to free speech. Like Justices Clarence Thomas and Steven Breyer, I do not believe that restricting the sale of violent video games to children under 18 would have strained the First Amendment.

With or without laws that require adult involvement for kids to have questionable material, parents must be parents.

Laws are no substitute for parental monitoring. The Supreme Court’s ruling is disappointing. Parents please start being better parents and become more proactive and willing to make tough decisions to protect your children.

Title: A Woman Screams for Help After TSA
Topic: Airport Security
Discussed by Dr. Joseph Horton
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Part 1 of 2

How much indignity are you willing to endure if told it’s for safety’s sake? Would you let strangers look at images of you naked? Would you allow strangers to touch you in ways that we teach children is inappropriate? Are “perverts” working for the TSA? Professor Horton concludes his interview by encouraging everyone to be engaged in the process. We all can write letters to the editor of our local papers. We can participate in town-hall meetings. Maybe, some of us can run for elected office. Log on to www.VisionAndValues.org for more.
