Title: Long Term: Which Side Has the Advantage: Muslim Terrorists or Israel?
Topic: Peace in the Middle East
Discussed by Professor Dr. Earl Tilford
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Part 1 of 2

Professor Dr. Earl Tilford recently wrote: “The current fighting in Gaza rapidly approaches total war intensity. Strategy for Hamas has always involved the total war objective of annihilating Israel. For Israel, fighting Hamas and Hezbollah, which is based in Lebanon and Syria, involves a long, protracted but limited war of attrition. This may be changing.”

Today, Dr. Tilford discusses the escalating situation and what the future may hold for the Middle East.

Click here for more information on this topic.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Does Israel seek lasting peace?

Do terrorists see weakness in the current US administration?

Do some Arab countries fear the Hamas and their missiles? Do those same Arab countries fear Israel and their missiles?

What is the endgame for Muslim terrorist organizations, specifically the Hamas? What objective is clearly stated in their handbook?

Can there be a lasting cease fire when the Hamas are determined to obliterate Israel?

The Hamas uses terror as a tool. How have their tactics adapted over the years?

Do Muslim terrorists utilize the main stream media to their advantage?

If the Hamas had the military advantage, would they agree to a cease fire?

Title: Part 2 of 2 - Long Term: Which Side Has the Advantage: Muslim Terrorists or Israel?
Topic: Peace in the Middle East
Discussed by Professor Dr. Earl Tilford
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Questions/Issues Discussed:

From 1993 to 2001, Dr. Tilford served as Director of Research at the U.S. Army’s Strategic Studies Institute. What was this experience like?

Did Israel deplete its stock of missiles for what is called “The Iron Dome”? Will the US restock their needed supply?

Is Israel a nation of well-armed citizens trained in warfare?

How does Israel destroy an enemy who hides behind women and children, firing weapons from inside hospitals, churches, and even ambulances? Will the war resort to a bloody boots-on-the-ground battle?

Will Israel survive future Muslim attacks without aid from the US?

Title: The Dawn of the American Twilight
Topic: War
Discussed by Professor Dr. Earl Tilford
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Part 1 of 2

Professor Dr. Earl Tilford is a top expert on war and military strategy. He served as Director of Research at the U.S. Army’s Strategic Studies Institute from 1993 to 2001. Dr. Tilford then left government service to teach military history, national security, and international and domestic terrorism and counter-terrorism at Grove City College.

Today, Dr. Tilford discusses a true story from his time in Vietnam – a time he calls the Dawn of the American Twilight.

Click here to read more from Dr. Tilford on this topic.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Did soldiers of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam invade Laos under air cover from the US Air Force?

Dr. Tilford was charged with preparing the morning intelligence briefings for the Major General. Did the MG run the air operations in Northern Laos?

Was he actually in charge of this? If not, who was? Were they qualified to run this?

Did Dr. Tilford face political correctness in his word choices for the intelligence briefings?

Did the battles to control the Ho Chi Minh Trail epitomize American folly and hubris? Dr. Tilford calls it a “magnificent failure”.

Title: Part 2 of 2 -The Dawn of the American Twilight
Topic: War
Discussed by Professor Dr. Earl Tilford
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Fifty years ago, Dr. Tilford witnessed and lived thru the Dawn of the American Twilight. Listen as he reveals more from this experience.

Do great powers go to war to withdraw their forces and leave an ally in the breach?

After Vietnam, Dr. Tilford served as Director of Research at the U.S. Army’s Strategic Studies Institute. How did he use history to make a better future?

Are those who do not know history bound to repeat/relive its mistakes?

If the Vietnam war constituted the “Dawn of the American Twilight” as a great power, is our nation now at the edge of an American nightmare from which there will be no morning after?

Title: Wars of the Future
Topic: War
Discussed by Professor Dr. Earl Tilford
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

War is a conflict of forces in which the goal is to compel the enemy to do your will. Since the Civil War, American Generals have brought overwhelming power in countless battles. However, Dr. Earl Tilford says it will take more than just power to defeat terrorists like ISIS. It is going to take intelligence. America is going to need a strategic plan to fight and ultimately defeat them.

Dr. Earl Tilford is a top expert on war and military strategy. He served as Director of Research at the U.S. Army’s Strategic Studies Institute from 1993 to 2001. Listen in as Dr. Tilford explains the different types of wars we have fought, are currently fighting, and will face in the future, specifically cyber warfare. For example, an electromagnetic pulse can be caused by nuclear detonations in the atmosphere and could shut down all aspects of electric power in a country. China and Russia can definitely pull off this type of attack; it is even possible that North Korea and Iran could very soon. Scary stuff, people. Scary, scary stuff.

Title: Is an American Crusade on the Horizon?
Topic: New Crusade Needed Now
Discussed by Professor Dr. Earl Tilford
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Is an American Crusade needed? Dr. Earl Tilford is a military historian and fellow for the Middle East & Terrorism with The Center for Vision & Values at Grove City College. A retired Air Force Intelligence Officer, from 1993 to 2001, he served as Director of Research at the U.S. Army’s Strategic Studies Institute.

Dr. Tilford says, “The logical end to a war is the final destruction of one of the combatants.” The Christian crusades began in response when the Muslims swept into the Holy Land and attacked the people. The Christians didn’t “start” the Crusade; they were simply defending themselves and the Holy Land.

Dr. Tilford discusses several other Crusades throughout history, including The Civil War and The Cold War. Dr. Tilford calls these wars “existential threats” and explains why he labels them as such, saying, “Human nature is by itself barbaric.

He is also very concerned about Obama’s recent comment comparing the Christian Crusades to ISIS. Many feel the same way. Why? Dr. Tilford discusses what America must do to defeat ISIS and Al Qaeda once and for all.

Title: A Golden Anniversary of Bad Decisions
Topic: Vietnam War Decisions Reviewed
Discussed by Professor Dr. Earl Tilford
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Superior forces burdened by flawed strategy, even with a decided technological edge, will lose to an enemy driven by desperation or fanaticism and willing to bear the cost. If the weaker side prolongs the conflict despite losing most of the battles, it still can win the war. Example: The Americans during the Revolutionary War.

Dr. Earl Tilford is a military historian and fellow for the Middle East & terrorism with The Center for Vision & Values at Grove City College. A retired Air Force intelligence officer, Dr. Tilford earned his PhD in American and European military history at George Washington University. From 1993 to 2001, he served as Director of Research at the U.S. Army’s Strategic Studies Institute.

Did we actually learn anything from the Vietnam War? Today, Dr. Tilford discusses military strategy and how you win a war. Wars are not won by sitting on the sidelines, not fighting. Dr. Tilford believes we need to learn from the mistakes made in Vietnam when fighting ISIS and Al Qaida. “We’re fighting non-state actors who will not obey the rules of war,” he says. “Most military forces protect their citizens; these soldiers use their citizens to protect them!”

Dr. Tilford goes on to discuss how we must realize the real threat our enemy poses and understand their goals. “When you get sick, you develop a strategy to combat the disease in your body. This is how we need to view our enemy – as a disease, and we need a strategy before it’s too late,” Dr. Tilford proclaims.

Title: It'S Not the Dog Fight That Matters. It's the Size of the Dog.
Topic: ISIS
Discussed by Professor Dr. Earl Tilford
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Part 1 of 2

Obama seems more interested in his golf score than the threat from ISIS. The MSM is all but ignoring the situation. They don’t believe we have a problem. Obama has appointed a totally incompetent person who has no experience to head the “strategic movement” or lack thereof.

Many Americans view war as bloody, many lives lost, guns and tanks firing aimlessly into cities and crowds. They don’t view war as beheadings, hangings, kidnapping, or enslavement. Dr. Earl Tilford says that is exactly what war is, though. ISIS is daring us to attack them, and attack them we must. Terrorism is a form of war and ISIS is a terrorist organization.

The Iraqis and Kurds are doing the best they can with what they have, and they are doing an excellent job. But it is simply not enough. Time usually works in favor of the underdog, in this case – ISIS. They are organized, motivated, and have a mission: to kill as many people as possible. We can send a bomb to a specific area and kill one or two or even twenty, but what is really going to stop ISIS in their tracks are boots on the ground.

Dr. Earl Tilford is a military historian and fellow for the Middle East and Terrorism with The Center for Vision and Values. From 1993 to 2001, Dr. Tilford served as Director of Research at the U.S. Army’s Strategic Studies Institute. Title: Part 2 of 2 - It'S Not the Dog Fight That Matters. It's the Size of the Dog.
Topic: ISIS
Discussed by Professor Dr. Earl Tilford
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Alexander the Great once said, “I fear an army of sheep led by a lion more than I fear an army of lions led by a sheep.”

Right now, the American military (the lions) are being led by a sheep (Obama). He has no desire to put boots on the ground to fight ISIS. We should be helping the Iraqi army and the Kurds. We should be sending them weapons. We should be there, fighting along with them against ISIS and those who align themselves with the terrorists.

We have the training, the weapons, and the will, but our leaders won’t allow us to utilize our talents and purpose for the good of our country and the world. The biggest concern right now, for them, is the November 4 election.

Dr. Earl Tilford also cautions that if America and our allies watch and do nothing, the entire world will be giving praise to Allah within a century. This is not a far-fetched ideal from some crazy nut job. There are many others who believe this, as well.

There are some, specifically Libertarians, who want America to just butt out of the entire ISIS ordeal. But we cannot just leave ISIS alone and let the Middle East duke it out. If we do, then who will help us when ISIS begins to behead and hang people on American soil?

Title: War: A Matter of Semantics
Topic: War on Terror
Discussed by Professor Dr. Earl Tilford
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

President John F. Kennedy once stated “Mankind must put an end to war, or war will put an end to mankind.”

Carl von Clausewitz said this of war: “War is an act of force to compel the enemy to do your will.”

So, which is better? Is there a wrong or right way to look at war? Is it good or bad? Dr. Earl Tilford is a retired Air Force Intelligence Office, a military historian, and a fellow for the Middle East & terrorism with The Center for Vision & Values at Grove City College.

In today’s segment, Dr. Tilford discusses past wars, the objectives, the effects on civilians, the outcomes, and what has happened since. He also discusses what really happens in war zones – it’s not all about bombs and guns and dying.

What about ISIS, the Israel/Palestine conflict, drug cartels, and other threats to America and around the world? When Dr. Tilford was with the US Army Strategic Studies Institute, his group foresaw many of these threats which are occurring today. In his opinion, the main objective of ISIS is to run the US out of the region. Once the US is forced out, ISIS will take over the region dominating the Sunnis and Shiites, then they will branch out into Asia and Europe, eventually spreading to every corner of the globe by the end of this century.

Listen in to hear what Dr. Tilford says about what the Obama administration is NOT doing right and what he believes will happen in the very near future.

Title: The Difference between Strategy and Tactic
Topic: Military Strategy and Tactics
Discussed by Professor Dr. Earl Tilford
with Center for Vision and Values (www.VisionAndValues.org)

Mr. President, America cannot handle an attack from ISIS. We must be proactive. The world needs a country that will lead, not blindly follow. Right now, we are blindly following – or blindly doing absolutely nothing, in my opinion.

Dr. Earl Tilford is a military historian and fellow for the Middle East and Terrorism with The Center for Vision and Values at Grove City College. He has a strong opinion about Obama’s position concerning ISIS – or lack of position, that is.

Dr. Tilford first describes the difference between military strategy and tactic. Strategy is why you are fighting and tactic is how you win a war. Our military MUST have a strategical plan and tactical plan. Dr. Tilford says Obama is too focused on dealing with domestic issues (and golfing) than facing real threats.

Now, if you’re like me, you might wonder why some news reports talk about ISIL as opposed to ISIS. What is the difference? Dr. Tilford also describes the differences in containing ISIS, controlling ISIS, marginalizing ISIS, defeating ISIS, and pounding them into the ground until they wave the flag. Sometimes threats will work to destroy an enemy, but will that work with ISIS? These terrorists are willing to die for their cause, no matter what. So how should Obama handle this threat?

Dr. Tilford also acknowledges that the MSM is very liberal and often-times one-sided. He discusses how the Hamas and other terrorist groups are now using the MSM in America to their advantage.

Also, when it came to the peace talks, our current president was rather…distant. With the seemingly lack of support from the US, will PM Netanyahu continue to accept the ceasefire guidelines which were set forth?

Does the U.S. military need massive restructuring? Its current structure originated with the reforms instituted in 1903 after the Spanish-American war. Now, the armed forces of the United States would be hard-pressed to counter a North Korean invasion of South Korea without using nuclear weapons.

Today we are fighting a primitive foe that has drained us of money, men and munitions. The task of new Congressional leaders will be “How to Restructure the Department of Defense”?
