Topic: Government Efficiency Commission

President Donald Trump has proposed plans for a new, more competent Government Efficiency Commission. Is this the first step in preparing our broken financial system? Has a similar program been tried before?
Do our elected officials in WDC have much appetite to actually reduce spending and tighten their budgets?
SIDE NOTE: When and why was Citizens Against Government Waste created?
In addition to a Government Efficiency Commission, must a performance audit of all Federal Programs be mandatory?

Is the IRS set to purchase $700,000 worth of ammunition? Tom Schatz explains that the IRS has always had agents that are trained and permitted to carry guns, but the announcement that they will be getting more armed agents is bad timing.
Did the IRS actually run “help-wanted ads” seeking new agents with gun proficiency who are “willing to use deadly force, if necessary”?
If the IRS hires 87,000 new agents, how big will the agency actually be? Tom Schatz reveals a startling number!
Is it nearly impossible to fire a federal employee?
Did the new law actually calculate new revenues to be gained by the new agents, boosting tax revenue to pay for Democrats’ green energy subsidies and other pet projects?
Are these dark times for our country? Tom Schatz has some positive thoughts: “We have hope that we will end up better than we think we are right now.”

How do we compete against Santa Clause?

GND tax rate proposal… I guarantee you probably fall into one of the brackets that will be taxed more!
How many people in America actually pay taxes? How much debt is owed by each taxpayer? “The problem isn’t the taxes that are raised. It’s the money that is being spent and wasted,” Tom says.

Title: The FCC is Picking Winner and Losers
Topic: Federal Communications Commission
Discussed by Tom Schatz
with Citizens Against Government Waste (www.cagw.org)
Once again, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has entered
into unnecessary and wasteful rulemaking. This time, in addition
to mandating the use of outdated technology, the agency will allow search engine
companies to access and search all broadcast content, repackage it, monitor
consumer viewing habits, and optimize the advertisements they deliver to
consumers. In other words, the FCC wants to allow a third party to spy on you
through your “set top box”.
Tom Schatz, the President of Citizens Against Government Waste, first
explains that the “set top box” is how consumers receive their television
service, whether through cable or satellite or some other means. “The FCC
wants to take that information and the content itself and open it up to whoever
wants to pick and choose what to show,” Tom explains. To make a long story
short, the FCC wants to highjack unnecessary information and intellectual
property from the consumer, while increasing costs.
Ready for more shocking news? Google is the big push behind this effort! And
they don’t want to pay for it! Tom Schatz explains that Google will be able to “get
what they cannot get in the marketplace through regulation.” If the FCC is
allowed to follow through with this plan, Google will be able to obtain
information from all your devices – not just your TV. They’ll have access to
your cell phone, iPad, iPod, computer – everything!
Google is not the only company who would benefit from this new regulation.
Listen in as Tom explains that, currently, there are strict privacy laws. If
this regulations is allowed, however, any company could pay your television
provided “x amount of dollars” to essentially hack into your home! President
Obama has been the “approve every new regulation” kind of President and is most
definitely pushing this new FCC rule through the door of every home in America.
Do yourself a favor. Get rid of the “box” and choose a new option to view your
favorite shows, like Amazon or Roku.

Title: The Future of the FCC
Topic: Government Control
Discussed by Deborah Collier
with Citizens Against Government Waste (www.cagw.org)
Is the way you watch TV about to change? If the FCC has its way, then yes! And
not for the better. What about the internet and our computers? Even cell phones
aren’t safe anymore from the prying eyes of the government.
New guest, Deborah Collier, serves as the Director of Technology and
Telecommunications Policy for Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW), a
private, non-partisan, non-profit organization representing more than one
million members and supporters nationwide. Deborah specializes in information
technology and telecommunications policy with a primary focus on cloud
computing, IT procurement, information security, data privacy, broadband
spectrum allocations, network neutrality, cable industry issues, e-commerce, and
emerging technologies. Basically, if an issue involves the IT world, she knows
about it.
Deborah is here today to discuss a very serious issue which should concern us
all. In her opinion, the Federal Communications Commission is moving us backward
in the area of cable television. The FCC wishes to use a third party to track
our viewing habits. Yep, that’s right, folks! The FCC wants to be in your living
room. This is all for advertisement purposes.
Let’s put it in this perspective: If you use a smart phone and are active at all
on Facebook or Twitter, when you “check-in” to a place, that “check-in” is
logged into the memory data bank of that social website – and your cell phone!
Have you noticed that lately your Facebook account automatically knows where you
are? Whether it be at home, church, the movies, or a restaurant, your phone is
tracking you. Also, you may have noticed specific ads in your newsfeed based on
what websites you have visited – or even the silly food videos you watch and
save!
That is the same way it will be with your television set. A third party, which
your cable provider hires, will be able to see what shows you watch, what
commercials you watch (before you flip the channel), and when you watch the
shows. Then, advertisements based on the shows and commercials you view will be
shown to you – through your tv set. This is scary, folks. It’s bad enough with
our cell phones. Now they want into our actual homes.
In addition, Deborah reveals that cable costs will need to increase in order to
compensate the third parties doing the advertisement research. So yay! That’s
more good news. [sarcasm]

From Washington to
Austin all the way down to your county government…How much of your money is
wasted? Tom Schatz is the President of Citizens Against

tax dollars are wasted by our government. First, Forty-six cents – forty-six
percent – of every dollar is spent on wasteful programs. When you add it all up,
that is 2.6 TRILLION DOLLARS.
CAGW was founded in 1984 after the Grace Commission under President Reagan.
Since 1993, they have been issuing reports on programs the government can easily
cut or reduce the amount of money being funneled into them. Listen in as Tom
discusses “peanut subsidies” across the world. Tom asserts, “It’s hard to
get rid of it, because nobody really understand what it is!”
And here’s a kicker…. The government gives large US companies, who make billions

countries. Yes, you read that right! Tom explains just how much money these
companies receive – money from YOU! (Hint: It’s over $200 MILLION a year.)

Half of the president’s new $56
billion suite of programs called the Opportunity Growth and Security Initiative
would be funded by cutting tax breaks on retirement accounts for top earners
with annual income greater than $200,000. The proposal includes additional
funding for projects like the Promise Zone Initiative to revitalize high-poverty
communities, as President Obama intends to create 40 new Promise Zones on top of
the 15 already in the works.
If that doesn’t make your head spin, President Obama wants those making over
$200,000 to pay for more failed or failing Promise Zones. This has not ever
worked. Not once. Ever. Why do they think it will work now?

Topic: Presidential Politics
Discussed by Tom Schatz
with Citizens Against Government Waste (www.cagw.org)
Do you believe that the voter, no matter their location, should look at the vice-presidential candidates voting records on the budget? Is it important?
As President of the Citizens Against Government Waste, how many decades have you been involved in politics with regards to looking at budget questions, budget votes, for CAGW? Was CAGW started after Reagan and some of his budget reviews? Let's look at past performance as a future indication for future votes - have you ever seen an elected official that you rated go from 20% to 80%? Have they ever flipped?
Unlike Biden, has Paul Ryan verbally stood in the bowels of Congress and said "unless we quit spending, we are going to bankrupt America"? Can Biden and Ryan even be compared?

In Texas, $35.72 million will be spent for landscaping, streetscapes, pedestrian and bike paths/trails.
