Title: Raising Spiritual Champions
Topic: Biblical Worldview
Discussed by David Closson
with Family Research Council (www.FRC.org)

Part 1 of 3

Renowned author and researcher Dr. George Barna conducted an extensive worldview research project studying American kids. He discovered that children begin forming their worldview between 15 and 18 months of age and by the age of 13 it is almost entirely formed.

David Closson is the Director of the Center for Biblical Worldview at the Family Research Council. Today he discusses results from Dr. Barna’s latest survey, which can be found in the book, “Raising Spiritual Champions”.

Click here to read more on this topic from the Family Research Council.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Our kids and grandkids take tests to gauge how they understand, comprehend, and retain knowledge at school. Should we also gauge the Biblical Worldview of our kids? Who holds the responsibility for children’s worldview?

Why did David Closson and the Family Research Council partner with Dr. George Barna on this recent study?

Dr. Barna developed Seven Cornerstones for measuring a persons’ worldview. What did his survey reveal if a person rejected even one of those cornerstones?

How many respondents reported having a belief that God exists and is the all-knowing, all-powerful, perfect Creator, and ruler of the universe?

How many respondents reported having a belief that you must acknowledge your sins and that we are all sinners by choice?

Title: The Inerrancy of Scripture
Topic: Biblical Worldview
Discussed by George Shamblin
with George Shamblin (www.georgeshamblin.com)

Part 1 of 3

More and more Christ-followers do not believe that the Bible is the literal Word of God. This even applies to preachers and ministers of the Word! How can this be?

George Shamlin is a Pastor and author of several books, including his latest: “Inerrancy”. Today, George Shamblin discusses the importance of believing and preaching the True of Word.

Click here for all the information about George Shamblin, his books, and his ministry.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Are we living in a world where there is no guarantee that a Christian preacher believes in the entirety of the Bible?

Fewer and fewer Christians believe the Bible is the literal Word of God. What is causing this lack of belief? George believes that too many people put God in a box when they don’t understand Scripture or a tough life situation invades their bubble. He encourages people to reach out to others for help and clarification, because that is how we learn, grow, and mature in our faith.

Why should Christians stand their ground in the public square, remaining firm on the Bible as the authoritative source of truth in an ailing culture? George urges people to stop saying “I’m sorry” when defending their faith.

Is there Absolute Truth?

Topic: Biblical Worldview
Discussed by George Shamblin
with George Shamblin (www.georgeshamblin.com)

Questions/Issues Discussed:

What is “inerrancy”? George references Ephesians 2:19-20 “So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone”.

Will the Church rise or fall on this issue?

Is it natural to have doubts and concerns? George admits that even he has questions!

Topic: Biblical Worldview
Discussed by George Shamblin
with George Shamblin (www.georgeshamblin.com)

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Are the fastest dying churches the ones making the most concessions? George says: “Once you make one compromise… the next one is knocking at the door.”

Why are Bible-believing churches thriving in the midst of this culture war?

Is the devil winning by destroying our belief in the inerrancy of the Bible? George reminds us that the devil has always tempted us to question God and His Word; he won’t ever stop until the second coming. We must stand firm in our faith and encourage fellow Christians to do the same

Title: How the Faith of Americans has Shifted Since the Start of the Pandemic
Topic: Biblical Worldview
Discussed by Dr. Adam Rasmussen
with Cultural Research Center (www.arizonachristian.edu/culturalresearchcenter/)

Part 1 of 2

Most religious beliefs change over the course of generations, not a few years. How has the faith of Americans changed over the last three years since the start of the COVID Pandemic?

Today, Dr. Adam Rasmussen discusses the latest research from the Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University: “How the Faith of Americans has Shifted Since the Start of the Pandemic.” Dr. Rasmussen is a fellow at the Cultural Research Center and Associate Professor of Humanities at Arizona Christian University.

Click here for more information about Dr. Adam Rasmussen.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Did the pandemic significantly change religious beliefs and behaviors of US adults? Dr. Rasmussen discusses the physical, psychological, economic, and lifestyle changes.

The 2023 American Worldview Inventory found 15 million fewer Americans are attending church weekly as compared to the 2020 survey. What contributed to the decline in attendance? Should churches be concerned?

Did the belief in God as omniscient, omnipotent, perfect, just, and the Creator of all stay almost constant from 2020 to the 2023 survey?

Did the belief that humans are not basically good and everyone is a sinner stay constant from 2020 to the 2023 survey?

How did the belief that knowing Christ as the only means to salvation change from 2020 to the 2023 survey? What do people believe “saves” them if Christ doesn’t? Dr. Rasmussen reminds us that we cannot save ourselves, so we need a Savior.

with Cultural Research Center (www.arizonachristian.edu/culturalresearchcenter/)

Questions/Issues Discussed:

What is the purpose of the Worldview Inventory Surveys that the Cultural Research Center conducts? Dr. Rasmussen says: “Biblical Worldview is at the heart of what it means for an individual, a community, and a society to flourish… We want to put forward the Bible… We need to get back to what the Bible says in Colossians 3:23-24.”

BOTTOM LINE: Did the pandemic shake the faith of many Christians?

How should church leaders respond?

Title: Do People Still Read the Bible?
Topic: Biblical Worldview

Part 1 of 2

The American Bible Society has released the findings of its 12th Annual State of the Bible Report.

David Closson, the Director of the Center for Biblical Worldview at the Family Research Council, discusses those findings today.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

According to the definition used by the American Bible Society, what is a “Bible User”?

Is Bible engagement at a historic low? David reveals that only 19% of people surveyed reported that they voluntarily read the Bible three to four times a year.

Do many non-Bible users admit that the Bible is valuable and the message found in Scripture has transformed their lives? David references grim statistics from a study the FRC did last year on this subject. You can read the article here.
