Can our faith be strengthened by failures? Can our family be blessed by failures? Pastor Ken Whitten discusses a few of the greatest successes that came from the greatest failures.

Why do we view failure as, well, a failure? Why does everyone want to be successful in everything they do? (Deuteronomy 8) Pastor Ken Whitten reminds us that failure can actually be a great motivator – even a friend – because God uses broken things! He says: “Never mistake the man or woman for the moment.”

Will God always forgive us when we fail Him?

Why do so many people think that Christians are perfect? Further, why do so many people believe that God only loves perfect people? (Romans 5:8)

Who was Simon Peter? What did he do that should have disappointed Jesus more than anything?

Title: What Are You Doing with Your Time?
Topic: Special Sermon
Discussed by Kevin Ezell
with North American Mission Board (www.namb.net)

Day 5

Kevin Ezell was the guest speaker on October 29, 2023 at Champion Forest Baptist Church. Kevin is the President of the North American Mission Board. You can find more information about Kevin Ezell here.

This week, Kevin Ezell presents a fabulous sermon on looking for open doors – opportunities to share the Gospel with others.

Scripture Passage: 1 Corinthians 16

Find Kevin Ezell’s sermon here.

QUESTIONS / ISSUES DISCUSSED:

Yesterday, Kevin Ezell began telling a funny “I’m married but I love basketball” story. Today, he concludes that story reminding us that it is important to listen to others when they observe behavior in us that is contrary to God’s Word. It’s also a great reminder that, no matter what is going on in the world or in our personal lives, we know that God has our back and we will WIN in the end!

FINAL THOUGHTS:

God has called you to be on mission. You never know how much time you have left on earth. What are you going to do with your time?

If you have never accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, text the word JESUS to 77069 and a pastor or counselor from CFBC will call you back.

QUESTIONS / ISSUES DISCUSSED:

How do you make the most of your life? How do you make the big decisions? How do you make the little decisions? What influences your decisions? How will your decisions further the Gospel? Kevin Ezell continues to encourage us to look for “doors with Gospel opportunity”.

Are you ever afraid? We all get afraid – even Paul! Kevin Ezell reminds us of Acts 18: 9-10 “And the Lord said to Paul one night in a vision, 'Do not be afraid, but go on speaking and do not be silent, for I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many in this city who are my people.'”

Pastor Ezell concludes this segment with a funny “I’m married but I love basketball” story. He will finish the story tomorrow, so make plans to tune in!

Why did Paul travel to Ephesus? Was he looking for an open door? Are YOU looking for an open door? Are you taking advantage of open doors? Would you recognize an open door if you saw one? Kevin Ezell tells a story about flight he once took when he sat next to a “talker”. This is a great story!

Many lives were changed when Paul went on mission and many, many churches were planted. But many people also hated Paul and his teachings. How did Paul handle the opposition?

Title: A Special Message from the North American Mission Board
Topic: Relief Help
Discussed by Mickey Caison
with North American Mission Board (www.namb.net)

It’s hard to imagine that there are still people suffering from Hurricane Sandy two years after the devastation, but it’s true! Mickey Caison, with the North America Mission Board, says that everyone can do something. Some may only be able to give $5 or $10; some can give more. Some may be able to volunteer their vacation time during Christmas or Spring Break to help rebuild homes – and lives.

The NAMB is also working with church planters to establish new or rebuild old churches. While the physical needs are abundant, the spiritual and emotional needs are prevalent, too.
Unlike many charities, ZERO donation dollars go toward administration costs, fees, or salaries. All of the donated dollars the NAMB receives goes toward the intended cause you designate. Their greatest needs, however, are financial and any amount is greatly appreciated.

Over the last two years, over 1,200 college students have given up their Spring Break and summer vacations to help spread happiness and hope to the residents in New York. For just $20 a day, they receive room and board, three meals a day, and a memorable experience that will last a lifetime.

Log on to www.NAMB.net  to donate financially and to see how your youth or college group can volunteer to help.

To contact them directly, email sandy@NAMB.net.

Title: How Do You Cook 670,000 Meals Since Sandy Hit The Shore?
Topic: Disaster Relief
Discussed by Fritz Wilson
with North American Mission Board (www.namb.net)

Part 1 of 2

Give our listeners a visual - You arrived at New Jersey prior to landfall - What was the scene like before landfall, during landfill, and what have you witnessed the past two or three weeks?

Tell us more about your mobile kitchens! What kind of meals are prepared for the individuals and families in crisis? frozen dinners? peanut butter and jelly sandwiches?

The North American Mission Board exists to work with churches, associations and state conventions in mobilizing Southern Baptists as a missional force to impact North America with the gospel of Jesus Christ through evangelism and church planting. They accomplish that through Send North America, their national strategy for mobilizing churches to plant churches and mobilizing church planters and other missionaries to assist with those efforts.

When you send in a mud-out crew to go and help that homeowner pull out all their damaged furniture, to pull up all their carpet and padding, to pull down sheetrock, insulation etc - Are there workers who go that are trained to help victims emotionally?

Since you all provide your meals free, how many semi-trucks full of food does it take to take care of victims for a single day? Also very important, what do you do with all of the trash that you generate?

Fritz Wilson with the North American Mission Board, discusses how Baptist Men and Women from all across America respond when disasters strike. We have a link above in our scrolling banner on ways to help and to donate.

What are the southern Baptist men doing to prepare for hurricane Sandy? Will there be a need for volunteers? Will there be a need for meals? For command centers? What is the "clam shell"? What kind of food do you all prepare?

Back to hurricane Ike - 1.5 million hot meals were prepared by you all, southern Baptist men and women. How in the world did y'all, from across the country, prepare so many meals? Is it still true that the Red Cross does not have a mobile kitchen?

If there are widespread outages and restaurants don't have portable generators - are you all prepared as needed to send some of your 1,500 disaster relief units throughout the northeast to cook hot meals? The North American Mission Board exists to work with churches, associations and state conventions in mobilizing Southern Baptists as a missioned force to impact North America with the gospel of Jesus Christ through evangelism and church planting.
