In a brief filed last Monday by the American Civil Rights Union involves a man who sued for the right to wear a Tea Party-associated Gadsden flag T-shirt and a “Please I.D. Me” button when voting. Minnesota law prohibits the wearing of political messages on clothing and buttons in polling places and within 100 feet of them. His argument: Why not allow this, but allow a floor-to-ceiling wall mural of President Obama at a polling location in Pennsylvania during the 2012 Election?

Early Voting is underway in Texas. If you have not voted yet, listen in for some
very important information! Harris County Clerk, Stan Stanart, will be
explaining how the election process works in Texas and what you should do if you
notice something “fishy”.
Questions/Issues Discussed:
Who can vote early?
Where can people vote early? Can you vote anywhere or just your specific
county?
What are the early voting hours and days?
So far, has the turnout been much higher than previous years?
Should people vote “Straight Party”? If so, what should they do BEFORE they hit
the “Submit” button?
NOTE: If you vote Straight Party, make sure you vote all the way down ballot to
the end for the school board races and others. Those are NOT party-related and
must be selected separately.
What if someone notices that a vote has been entered incorrectly?
VERY IMPORTANT: An election judge or worker is NOT allowed to touch the voting
machine. If you have an issue, they can help, but they CANNOT touch the machine.

ACCEPTABLE CREDENTIALS FOR VOTING
Texas requires voters to present an approved form of photo identification to
vote at the polls. To facilitate the voter qualification process when YOU go to
the poll, YOU should:
1. Review the list of approved Photo IDs and make sure YOU have one;
2. Make sure YOUR State Approved Photo ID is current; With the exception of the
U.S. citizenship certificate, the Photo ID must be unexpired or expired less
than 60 days;
3. Verify that the name the Voter Registrar has on file for YOU matches the name
on one of the State approved Photo IDs. YOU may visit the official website by
clicking [here]
to update YOUR 'Voter Name and Address'.
Approved Photo IDs:
Texas driver license—unexpired or expired less than 60 days — issued by the
Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
Texas Election Identification Certificate (EIC) issued by DPS

Total turnout for the March 4th
Primary Elections was 193,491 voters; a mere 9.7% turnout. That is incredibly
sad to me. How did Harris County voters respond to new voter ID laws?
In the Republican Primary, 25 of the 139,703 voters voted provisionally because
they did not present an acceptable photo ID. In the Democratic Primary, 10 of
the 53,788 voters voted provisionally because they did not present an acceptable
photo ID. As provided by law, within 6 days after Election Day, 4 Republican
voters and 1 Democratic voter provided an acceptable Photo ID to the voter
Registrar so that their provisional vote would be counted.
