One in five families are caregivers. 70% of older adults will need long-term care services. 40% of Americans over 65 live alone, and 60% of adults over 80 live alone.

Chuck DeVore is a former California Legislator and retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel. He is the Chief National Initiatives Officer at the Texas Public Policy Foundation.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Why did Chuck feel the need to write on this subject, which is far out of his professional expertise?

Why is hiring a power of attorney the first step to take when moving older parents into your home?

Did Chuck and his wife ever think they would one day be long-term caregivers? Chuck discusses how and why their move to Texas helped them take better care of his in-laws.

How did their children adjust to the changes?

How did their life change?

Title: Biden: No More Gas Stoves
Topic: Affordable and Reliable Energy
Discussed by Chuck DeVore
with Texas Public Policy Foundation (www.TexasPolicy.com)

In much of the US, natural gas is so inexpensive that a gas range costs less than half as much to operate as an electric range. Could this all change, though, with one signature from Joe Biden?

Chuck DeVore is the Chief National Initiatives Officer at the Texas Public Policy Foundation. Today, he discusses the Biden Administration’s constant attack on natural gas, coal, and fossil fuels.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

During the recent ice-storm which covered large parts of Texas, were many citizens grateful to own a gas stove?

Do Leftists believe we should not have pick-up trucks? Have some Leftists stated that “big pickup trucks are dangerous and dirty vehicles that are only driven by vain, power-hungry, selfish people”? Chuck explains just how far Californians are taking this. It is completely ridiculous and unattainable!

What is the cost comparison between a gas and electric stove? How much would it cost to replace a gas stove with an electric stove?

What is the end-game for environmental leaders? When will they finally be satisfied that man is no longer harming Mother Earth? Chuck believes it’s more about a power grab than saving the earth. He says: “In their mind, Capitalism is bad… and they’re going to be the ones to tell us how much we need to use.”

Chuck DeVore served as a Republican member of the California State Assembly from 2004 to 2010. Why did he seek refuge in Texas? Chuck has three very, very good reasons why he moved to Texas.

Do many who leave California for Texas and other more Conservative states bring their Woke Progressive ideas with them? Or are they abandoning them for Conservative ideas? Are some Republicans simply fleeing California’s Liberal policies? Chuck discusses the TPPF’s survey results on this.

Title: Can Voting Integrity be Restored?
Topic: Elections Matter
Discussed by Chuck DeVore
with Texas Public Policy Foundation (www.TexasPolicy.com)

Recently, the Texas Public Policy Foundation and a coalition of conservative groups called on Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, and House Speaker Dade Phelan to reform the Texas election system and restore confidence in this vital institution.

Chuck DeVore, the Vice President of TPPF, discusses their proposal on restoring election integrity in Texas.

Click here for the full details.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Will verifying that only eligible voters can register to vote restore confidence in the voter registration system?

How can better audits of voter lists become routine? Chuck reveals that the Secretary of State’s office receives 500 rejected jury duty notices due to “non citizenship” every month. You must be a legal citizen to receive a Texas driver’s license AND to register to vote. Something is fishy here….

Has expanded vote-by-mail opened areas of abuse and fraud?

Who should decide on who votes, when they vote, and how they vote?

Title: “For the People Act” BAD for Americans
Topic: For the People Act
Discussed by Chuck DeVore
with Texas Public Policy Foundation (www.TexasPolicy.com)

Chuck Devore is the Vice President of the Texas Public Policy Foundation. Today he offers details about the “For the People Act” (HR1), which is awaiting Senate deliberation in WDC. TPPF maintains that the legislation is unconstitutional and would dangerously distort our system of ensuring free and fair elections.

More on this issue can be found here.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

How is HR1 unconstitutional? br />
Will HR1 deny free speech?

Will HR1 undermine States’ control of their own elections? Chuck discusses the verification practices in California. THIS is what the Democrats want nationwide and it is completely outrageous!

Will HR1 place unelected federal bureaucrats in charge of our local voter rolls?

WWill HR1 allow ballot harvesting nationwide? TPPF calls this “ballot trafficking”.

Will HR1 allow campaign workers to give rides, food, water, and even money to people in order to obtain their vote?

Did any Republican in the House join with the Democrats in voting for the passage of HR1, the “For the People Act”?

Will HR1 pass the Senate?

Title: From Prosperity to Poverty
Topic: War on Poverty
Discussed by Chuck DeVore
with Texas Public Policy Foundation (www.TexasPolicy.com)

The Texas Public Policy Foundation is hosting a “Prosperity and Poverty Summit” in Austin on Wednesday, October 22 from 8:30 am – 2:00 pm at the Stephen F. Austin InterContinental Hotel. Chuck DeVore is the Vice President of Policy for the Texas Public Policy Foundation. He says the challenge with poverty is not just about material need.

One starting point is employment, but it is only one part of a big puzzle. Mr. DeVore points out that most states where poverty is the highest, there are more socialist-type programs. When you replace GOD with government, things begin to unravel.

Another factor that has caused the rise in poverty is the breakup of the traditional American family. 40.7 percent of all children in America are born out of wedlock. This should be a wake-up call for everyone. On the other hand, immigrants to America (whatever ethnicity) are one-half less likely to give birth out of wedlock.

It’s like a vicious circle.

Chuck DeVore will be discussing proven policy initiatives that help lift individuals and families out of poverty at the “Prosperity and Poverty Summit”. He will also compare the difference in policy and government programs in twelve of the biggest states with their rate of unemployment and poverty.

For example, when the government reports that the “official poverty rate” has decreased, they lump all cities together. However, the cost of living in Brooklyn in vastly differently than in Lubbock. This is how the government convinces low-information voters that their programs work, when in reality, they cause more poverty, more unemployment, and more destruction.

Consider attending the “Prosperity and Poverty Summit” in Austin on Wednesday, October 22 from 8:30 am – 2:00 pm at the Stephen F. Austin InterContinental Hotel hosted by the Texas Public Policy Foundation. Find more information at www.TexasPolicy.com.
