QUESTIONS / ISSUES DISCUSSED:

Can we be wonderfully made and still a work in progress? David says YES and we should praise God that we can be both satisfied with who we are and eager to be the person we are meant to be.

But…what about perfection? (This was discussed on Monday and Tuesday.) Aren’t we called to be perfect like Jesus? If we shouldn’t strive for perfection, why should we strive to be perfect? David un-confuses the confusion.

When am I treating my “wonderfully made” as if it cancels out my work in progress?

Who does God speak to? Who can hear His voice? When He says to be still, who is He talking to – someone who is calm, cool, and collected or someone who is in turmoil and trouble?

What are you holding on to? What has a grip on you? Dr. Capes closes the lesson reading Psalm 46 again, giving some commentary as he reads and reminding us that the end of the Psalm doesn’t end with stillness; it ends with God being exalted.

POINTS FOR HOME

Take care of yourself. Do something for you. This isn’t selfish! This is self-care.

Remember that God is your refuge and strength – always. Lean on Him.

Stop being afraid of the unknown! God is with you.

COMMON SALVATION QUESTIONS: What about the saved person who sins?

Can a person just keep living the way they lived before they were saved? REMEMBER: We are all sinners – even after salvation. (1 John 1:8-10) However, David Fleming reminds us that salvation is not a license to keep sinning.

Are you experiencing the full benefits of salvation? (Hebrews 6:5-8)

COMMON SALVATION QUESTIONS: What about “good works”? What is our part?

David Fleming shares a few great quotes, explaining that we do have a role to play in growing the Kingdom, but salvation is always #1. (Ephesians 2:8-10; John 15:5; Philippians 2:12-13)

QUESTIONS / ISSUES DISCUSSED:

COMMON SALVATION QUESTIONS: Can a person lose their salvation?

Can “works” save us? (Ephesians 2:8-9)

What is the source of our salvation?

If salvation is not based on works, why are we required to “work for the Kingdom”? This is a tricky thing…

Is it a sin to constantly worry that we aren’t saved? David Fleming reminds us that salvation is based on what Jesus did – not what we do.


COMMON SALVATION QUESTIONS: Can a person choose to walk away from salvation?

Why do people choose to walk away from their faith?

Do you have a prodigal son or daughter? What are you doing about it?

REMEMBER: Salvation is a free gift from God! (John 6:37-40; Philippians 1:6; John 10:28-29)

GOOD NEWS: God will never loosen His grip on you – no matter how far you run!
