Topic: Father’s Day
Discussed by Dr. Daniel Huerta
with Focus on the Family www.Family.org
Every child needs a hero. A son needs a man he can imitate and a daughter needs a man who will make her feel protected and secure. Who better to be that hero than Dad?
Dr. Daniel Huerta is the Vice President of Parenting at Focus on the Family. Dr. Huerta says: “Each man is unique and his skills are of tremendous value to his family.”

The world can be a tough and scary place. Do our children and grandchildren need to feel protected and secure? Dr. Huerta explains why he believes life is not just about safety; it’s also about pursuing healthy lives physically, emotionally, and relationally.
Do many kids in America lack a Godly male role model?
Are Godly male role models being de-emphasized in America? Dr. Huerta urges men to be good, godly role models and to seek out other men who can help them as well.
How can fathers be more intentional in their kids’ lives?

Title: Celebrating Birth Fathers
Topic: Father’s Day
Discussed by Paul Batura
with Focus on the Family www.Family.org
Birth fathers rarely play a starring role in abortion AND adoption. And this
needs to change.
Paul Batura and wife, Julie, are the proud parents of three boys, all of whom
they adopted. They are grateful for their boys’ biological parent’s decision of
adoption and not abortion.

Questions/Issues Discussed:
Do many boyfriends pressure girlfriends to do something they regret for the rest
of their lives?
What words of encouragement does Paul have for the birth fathers that supported
the adoption of their child?
Has Paul met the biological fathers for his three sons? If they happened upon
Paul’s home, what would they see?
Why did Paul’s mother teach him the importance of cultivating a beautiful mind?
Why has this stuck with him during his adult life? Paul remembers the Apostle
Paul’s words in Philippians 4:8: “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever
is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever
is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of
praise, think about these things.”
What prayer does Paul pray with his boys every night at bedtime?
What words of encouragement does Paul have for women who have found themselves
in a crisis pregnancy?

Title: Dad, What is Important to YOU?
Topic: Father’s Day
Discussed by Bill Courtney
with Against the Grain (www.CoachBillCourtney.com)
Part 1 of 2
Bill Courtney is famously known for turning a group of inner-city Memphis teens into a highly motivated football team. “Undefeated” is an Academy award-winning movie about his inspiring story.
Bill says that Father’s Day should be a time for dad’s to reflect on what is really important to them. Yes, fathers are usually the bread-winner in the family. Yes, fathers must often work late and might miss half of baseball season. Yes, fathers often-times just want to rest on the couch at the end of a long day and not play dress-up with their 3 year old princess.
Bill challenges fathers to really dig deeper, though. Listen in to hear what he has to say.

Dads – are you teaching your kids the right values? I mean – really, really teaching them? Are you leading my example? Or are you a “do as I say, not as I do” kind of dad?Guest Bill Courtney is not trying to make you feel. We are human. We are not perfect. As dads, we will mess up. A lot. Bill says there are certain aspects of raising children that dads should really focus on.
For example, are you showing your children the value of hard work by encouraging them to earn their own money? Are you teaching them to live up to their commitments by not letting them quit ballet mid-year? Here’s a kicker: Do you tell your children you are sorry when you do mess up?

Title: Who Cares About Father’s Day?
Topic: Father’s Day
Discussed by Armin Brott
with Mr. Dad www.MrDad.com
What does it mean to
be a father these days? Do some men find fatherhood intimidating?
How does MSM – Main Stream Media – portray fathers? Women aren’t the only ones
whose roles have changed. Father’s Day is a reminder that millions of men have
no idea what it means to be a father. Click [here] for more information.
