Title: Sonography Training Propelling the Pro-Life Movement
Topic: Ultrasounds Help Save Babies
Discussed by Robyn Chambers
with Focus on the Family www.Family.org

When an abortion-minded woman sees a fuzzy ultrasound screen with no distinct features, it’s understandable how she can believe the lie that her child is no more than a “clump of cells.” But when a well-trained ultrasound technician can show her the truth of the life in her womb – her baby’s beating heart and the shape of the child’s head and limbs – it can make all the difference in her decision.

Robyn Chambers, Executive Director of Advocacy for Children at Focus on the Family, says this: “Training these operators should be a high priority for the pro-life movement.”

Click here for more information about how you can help Focus on the Family’s Operation Ultrasound initiative.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Is a sonagram the image produced by an ultrasound?

Can the image produced by the ultrasound be a video and/or a picture?

Do mothers often choose life for their babies after they see a clear picture on an ultrasound screen? Robyn admits that she still tears up every time she sees a baby on an ultrasound and hears a baby’s heartbeat. For the mother, she says it is often “life-saving and life-changing”.

If the ultrasound depicts a murky, out-of-focus picture with no distinct features, and the sound is turned off, could the sonographer reinforce the myth that the baby is no more than a “clump of cells”? Do mothers then often choose abortion instead of life?

What can well-trained sonographers and well-trained ultrasound technicians show the mother?

Should training the sonographer become a high priority for the pro-life movement?

How many ultrasound machines has Operation Ultrasound help purchase over the years?

Title: Ultrasound: LIVE in Times Square!
Topic: Ultrasounds Help Save Babies
Discussed by Robyn Chambers
with Focus on the Family www.Family.org

On Saturday, May 4, Focus on the Family will be hosting “Alive from New York” in Times Square. During the event, a doctor will perform a live 4D ultrasound on the Big Screen.

Robyn Chambers is the Director of the Sanctity of Human Life at Focus on the Family. She is also part of FOTF’s “Be a Voice” campaign. You can learn more about this event here.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Why is FOF hosting this LIVE event in Times Square? Who’s idea was it?

What is the purpose of the event? Robyn says this: “We’re not there to pick a fight. We’re not there to be political. We’re there to celebrate the life of that woman and her unborn child.

When an expectant mother who is contemplating abortion sees the first ultrasound of her baby, do most choose life?

How can people register to watch/participate via livestream?

Title: Ultrasounds Saves Lives. Period.
Topic: Ultrasounds Help Save Babies
Discussed by Dr. David Stevens
with Christian Medical and Dental Association www.CMDA.org

Disclaimer: Use caution when listening to this segment around young children. Issues discussed might be upsetting or hard for little ones to understand.

The Christian Medical and Dental Association is the nation's largest faith-based medical association. They recently joined a brief urging the U.S. Supreme Court to review a decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. The brief defends Indiana's statutory requirement that women receive the benefit of ultrasound information when considering an abortion procedure.

Dr. David Stevens is the CEO of The Christian Medical and Dental Association.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Is an ultrasound image essential medical information that should be reviewed with the expecting mother?

Why is an ultrasound required in order to do an abortion?

Do abortionists refuse to refer to the pre-born in the womb as a “baby”?

FACT: 80-90% of women seeking an abortion will NOT follow through once they have seen their baby on an ultrasound screen.

If a woman has a cancerous growth within her body, would a surgeon use an image of the growth and detailed explanation to the patient on how it will be removed?

Should physicians be required to truthfully describe the abortion procedure to each expectant mother before it is performed?

Why is the CMA working on this issue?

Title: Option Ultrasound Program
Topic: Ultrasounds Help Save Babies
Discussed by Bri Stensrud
with Focus on the Family www.Family.org

Abortion rates are higher around the globe, but lower in the United States.

New guest Bri Stensrud is the Director of Church and Community Outreach with Focus on the Family. In her opinion, abortion is decreasing in the United and Canada because we have such great technological resources to help expectant mothers, specifically ultrasound machines. That is why Focus on the Family began the “Option Ultrasound Program”.

The ultrasound machine is a game changer,” Bri states. This leads to another fantastic fact: Millennials are probably the most pro-life generation we have seen in a long, long time. “They grew up with ultrasound pictures on refrigerators,” she says.

It all starts at home. Listen in as Bri explains why sometimes you must focus on one issue at a time in order to stop the entire affair. “We cannot have a divisive nature in the pro-life movement any longer,” Bri says passionately. “Let’s do it all together.”

Title: Option Ultrasound Program
Topic: Ultrasounds Help Save Babies
Discussed by Robyn Chambers
with Focus on the Family www.Family.org

Part 1 of 2

Focus on the Family’s pro-life division has several campaigns occurring during the month of January, Sanctity of Life Month. We talked about one on Friday, January 9, the “I See Two” campaign. You can click on the archives to listen to the interview with their program director, Betsy Powell.

Today, it is an honor to have Robyn Chambers join us to discuss their “Option Ultrasound” program. This program has been in effect for a decade and has helped save over 300,000 babies across the nation. Robyn encourages everyone to “Be A Voice” in their community and their church. You can “Be A Voice” at work. If you have teens or college-age students, they can “Be A Voice” on campus.

Yes, talking about abortion is sometimes difficult and uncomfortable, but talking about life is better! One of the best tools in encouraging a woman to choose life is seeing her baby on an ultrasound. And that is what the “Option Ultrasound” program is all about: giving crisis pregnancy centers the training and low-cost equipment to offer free ultrasounds to women who are at a cross-roads. Listen in as Robyn explains more about the importance of ultrasounds and why abortionist hate them.

NOTE: Because of generous donors, the “Option Ultrasound” program with Focus on the Family has provided 658 grants across the United States for low-cost ultrasound machines and training! Praise the Lord!

Topic: Ultrasounds Help Save Babies
Discussed by Robyn Chambers
with Focus on the Family www.Family.org

In this second segment with Robyn Chambers, she shares how the “Option Ultrasound” program has changed women’s lives. One woman from Tennessee said, “Seeing my baby on the ultrasound made me look at my pregnancy in a different way. I mostly remember seeing his teeny, tiny heart beating. It was so fast. It was real. It was in me and this was my child.

She also shares about a young woman in Colorado who had already decided to have an abortion. However, the father of the baby convinced her to talk to someone about the decision before following through. Listen in as Robyn shares this amazing, life-changing story!

To hear more stories, grab some tissues and go to   and click on the “Faces of Life” banner on the right-hand side of the page  or click [here].

If you’ve had an abortion, we encourage you to find a crisis pregnancy center in your area. Most offer free post-abortion healing counseling. Don’t suffer alone in silence. Log on to www.BeAVoice.net  for more information.
