Title: What are Dads Good for Anyway?
Topic: Daddy Time
Discussed by Dr. Daniel Huerta
with Focus on the Family www.Family.org
Men in general and dad’s in particular are too often the blunt of bad jokes.
Danny Huerta is the executive director of the Parenting and Youth department at
Focus on the Family. In this role, Danny oversees initiatives that equip parents to disciple and mentor the next generation so they can thrive in Christ. Today, however, he wants to focus on DADS.
Questions/Issues Discussed:
Dads are often the fixer, the rough-houser who gets down on the floor and becomes the bunching bag, and even the protector of teenage daughters. But, are dads good for so much more than laughs and protection?
Is there a difference between a “dad” and a “father”?
How does Danny Huerta counsel the single mom?
Do dads make families more successful emotionally, financially, psychologically, and physically? Danny says, “We offer the opportunity for kids to see us and want to be like us, which puts a lot of pressure (on us), but we don’t have to be perfect because we point them to Christ.”
Why do dads make such a difference in families?
