Title: It's Time to Take a Stand Against the Crud on TV
Topic: Cable Choice is Channel Choice
Discussed by Dan Isett
with Parents Television Council

The Cable Execs are at it again. They are forcing dirty, perverted, violent shows down our throats. And there is nothing we can do about it. Or is there?

The average household watches less than fifteen of the hundreds of channels they actually pay for. And the prices are not going down. The cable guys add more channels to the packages and make it sound so appealing. “Look at the great deal you’re getting!”

But is it really a good deal when they are actually raising the price for channels you’ll never watch? Log on to www.ParentsTV.org to learn how you can join the fight for Channel Choice.

Title: Cable Merger will Cost you Even More
Topic: Cable Choice is Channel Choice
Discussed by Dan Isett
with Parents Television Council

If the Comcast/Time Warner Cable merger is approved, consumers can just cut the cord if they don’t like what the new (likely higher) cable TV prices will be, right? Think again.

The problem is that Comcast/TWC also controls Internet access and telephones. It’s impossible for consumers to completely cut the cord to watch TV over the Internet.

That’s why the Parents Television Council and others are opposing this merger and calling on Congress to do the same. The PTC believes consumers should have more control and that a cable choice solution would be the ultimate solution to allow real choice in what consumers want to watch on cable TV.

Log on to www.ParentsTV.org  for more information on how you can help stop this merger.

Title: Not All Cartoons are Created Equally
Topic: Adult Cartoons on Kids’ Channels
Discussed by Dan Isett
with Parents Television Council

Part 1 of 2

Warning: Parents be careful listening to this segment with children present.

The Cartoon Network will soon be airing the so-called cartoon “Adult Swim” from 7-8 pm, which is prime time for kids. If this is a “cartoon”, why are the folks at PTC upset and fighting the network?

Furthermore, the PTC discovered that the Cartoon Network has repeatedly failed to use the TV ratings system to warn parents about sexual content, suggestive dialogue, and explicit language 100% of the time.

Warning: Parents be careful listening to this segment with children present.

Parents must be given the opportunity to unsubscribe from the Cartoon Network, MTV, and other channels on their cable bills. They need the option to subsidize explicit content in order to receive the programming they do want coming into their homes.

Title: Do we Act Out What we See on TV?
Topic: Does Bad TV = Bad Kids
Discussed by Dan Isett
with Parents Television Council

Part 1 of 2

Dan Isett, with Parents Television Council, discusses a new study which discovered that violent content on broadcast and cable television are virtually indistinguishable. The study also revealed that broadcast TV shows consistently underrated graphically-violent content as appropriate for 14-year-old children, even though similar content on the cable networks was rated for mature audiences only.

When will enough be enough? Kids and teens are acting out what they see on TV. Even adults are being affected! Listen in to hear more shocking statistics.

Title: Part 2 of 2
Topic: Does Bad TV = Bad Kids
Discussed by Dan Isett
with Parents Television Council

Children watching 4 episodes of the hit broadcast TV show Revolution during the fall of 2013 were exposed to an average of 91.5 acts of violence per episode. That is equivalent to a child seeing one act of violence every 39 seconds!! Revolution, rated TV-14, had more violence than all of the TV-MA cable shows in the study.

Title: Pick and Pay Because Our Children Are Watching
Topic: Pick and Pay
Discussed by Dan Isett
with Parents Television Council

Dan Isett, with Parents Television Council – www.ParentsTV.org, urges everyone to support Pick and Pay. Cable TV owners have bundled many stations together in ‘packages’ forcing consumers to PAY FOR programming they do not want, do not watch, and DO NOT want to support. Why should I be forced to support pornography? Demand Cable Choice by supporting PICK AND PAY; choose only the stations you want!
