Title: Shrinkflation is at Large in the US Economy
Topic: Inflation
Discussed by Dr. EJ Antoni
with Texas Public Policy Foundation (www.TexasPolicy.com)
Biden’s poll numbers are shrinking as the inflation rates soars.
Coincidence? I think not.
Texas Public Policy Foundation’s Dr. EJ Antoni says: “Say hello to
shrinkflation, the covert-ops version of inflation.” Dr. Antoni is an
expert economist with the TPPF, focusing on fiscal and monetary policy.

Questions/Issues Discussed:
Who does inflation hurt the most?
Do many people have the opportunity to just “make more money”? Dr.
Antoni explains how government programs (i.e. free money) keep people from
pursuing other careers and opportunities.
Can we lay the blame for today’s skyrocketing inflation rate at the feet of Joe
Biden and his policies? Dr. Antoni explains that there is a difference between
fiscal policies and monetary policies. BUT, he goes on to say that YES
– we can blame the Biden Administration for our current inflation problem.
When calculating inflation and the cost of consumer goods, does the government
calculate inflation today as they did in the 1970s and 1980s?
When calculating inflation and the cost of consumer goods, do government
bureaucrats figure in the diminishing size of the product (i.e. how many ounces
are in the can)? Dr. Antoni says that it doesn’t matter! Consumers know they are
spending more on everything!
What are some other examples of “shrinkflation”?
Is shrinkflation taxation without representation? “It is a way for the
government to take value away from consumers by printing money. It allows the
government to spend money without having to raise an official tax,” Dr.
Antoni says. He goes on to explain how many people don’t even realize it’s
happening because it is usually gradual. However, this time it is different.

Title: Can We All Just Lower Our Expectations Please? – Joe Biden
Topic: Bideneconomics
Discussed by Dr. EJ Antoni
with Texas Public Policy Foundation (www.TexasPolicy.com)
Americans are accustomed to a certain way of living: low gas prices,
full store shelves, and job security just to name a few. Over the
past ten months, our expectations have been fraught with disappointment.
Dr. EJ Antoni is an Economist with the Texas Public Policy Foundation.
His research focuses on fiscal and monetary policy.

Questions/Issues Discussed:
Is the Biden Administration asking Americans to lower their expectations?
Did the Biden Administration create the empty shelves across America and massive
inflation? Did the Biden Administration cause the labor shortage and broken
supply chain?
Dr. Antoni admits that the Trump Administration had some great policies, but
also some bad policies, too. However, when Biden took over, those bad policies
got worse and the good policies were basically thrown out the window.
What about the skyrocketing gar prices? Is that Biden’s fault? Dr. Antoni says
there are several reasons why it is absolutely Biden’s fault.
Does Joe Biden truly believe that he has the best intentions for the American
people? Is he right, though?
Where do we go from here? Dr. Antoni says: “When you’re at rock bottom, the
only place to go is up.”

Title: What Were They Thinking? They Weren’t.
Topic: Inflation
Discussed by Dr. EJ Antoni
with Texas Public Policy Foundation (www.TexasPolicy.com)
The White House predicted 2021 inflation to be only 2%.
Clearly, they are out of touch with reality because the White House
Office of Management and Budget recently more than doubled its inflation
forecast for the year.
Dr. EJ Antoni is an economist with the Texas Public Policy Foundation.
Dr. Antoni’s research focuses on fiscal and monetary policy.

Questions/Issues Discussed:
What are the responsibilities of the White House Office of Management and Budget
(OMB)?
Listen in as EJ reveals what the inflation already was in January of this year
and why the OMB was dreaming when they predicted a total inflation of only 2%
for the remaining 11 months of the year.
What was the inflation rate during the Trump Administration? Was this on par for
previous years?
What is inflation? Bret has a great explanation and also discusses some of the
inflationary pressures in our economy.
Should we all be preparing now?
