On Friday, January 24, 2020, around 4:15 AM, there was a tragic explosion at Watson Grinding and Manufacturing in Houston, TX. Eric Dick discusses how those affected after a tragedy like this can seek to be made whole, compensated for the loss of property, wages, emotional trauma ….

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Do bad things sometimes happen to good people?

How far did the Watson Grinding and Manufacturing explosion reach?

Do people who live in the affected area need to be leery of “door knockers”? Erik suggests contacting your insurance company directly. This is great advice after ANY natural or other disaster.

What rights do businesses have in a situation like this?

Why did the Founding Fathers believe that the right to a trial by jury (7th Amendment) is so important?

In the case of Watson Grinding and Manufacturing… Should there be more zoning laws put in place to protect home owners and businesses in the vicinity?

The Intercontinental Terminal Company fire in Deer Park affected thousands of people. Were you one of them?

Attorney Eric Dick offers a warning for everyone who may be rushing to receive compensation from ITC…

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Has ITC established a “get help hotline”? Should people call this hotline?

Is ITC only “allowing” people to file a claim for a few months? Is this legal? Or does the law allow for two years?

Will ITC be fair in their compensation? Or will they deny and delay for as long as they can?

What about businesses? Can they file a claim for lost revenue?

How can residents begin to protect themselves starting now?

Many insurance company adjusters are instructed to say “Oh that isn’t covered…”? Do many simply lack the proper training? Eric Dick recommends hiring an attorney who specializes in this type of damage. Let them do the work!

Title: UPDATE on the Houston Feeding Ordinance
Topic: Feed The Poor
Discussed by Eric Dick
with Eric Dick Law Firm (www.dicklawfirm.com)

Hungry. Will Work For Food. Army Vet. Family at Home. Need Work.

We often see men and women – sometimes even children – holding signs with similar verbiage driving the streets of Houston (or whatever city you may live in). Do you offer them money? What about food? Do you bring them a bite to eat from a restaurant and a bottle of water?

Eric Dick offers an update on the Houston Feeding Ordinance and what people can and cannot do to help those in need.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

What is the Houston Feeding Ordinance?

Has the ordinance helped the homeless situation in Houston? Or, did the ordinance simply move the hungry from one part of the city to another?

Are similar ordinances being passed in Democrat-controlled cities across the nation?

How many homeless people can be fed without the person being fined or arrested? YES – you can be arrested for feeding the poor!

BUT WAIT – is this in one 24 hour period, or is there a time limit for feeding them? Listen CLOSE for this answer! It is simply outrageous!

Are churches and other organizations afraid to reach out to the homeless by providing meals due to this ordinance?

What can we do to help stop this craziness?

Title: Arrested for Feeding the Homeless
Topic: Feed The Poor
Discussed by Eric Dick
with Eric Dick Law Firm (www.dicklawfirm.com)

Houstonian Phillip Paul Bryant doesn’t believe it should be a crime to feed the homeless. In fact, it should be a crime NOT to feed them! Therefore, he has decided to sue the City of Houston.

Eric Dick, Bryant’s attorney, has an update on the case.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Why is Eric Dick representing Phillip Paul Bryant, and others, pro-bono?

Is Houston the only city in America that does not allow people to feed the homeless on the streets?

Has anyone “really” been arrested and placed in jail for feeding the homeless?

Is there evidence that a homeless person has ever gotten sick from food they were given? HINT: Nope!

What is the fine for feeding the homeless in Houston?

What is Eric Dick’s argument against the City of Houston?

Eric has chosen to keep the case in state court, not federal court. Why?

YOU can help Eric fight the City! Call City Hall at 713.437.5559 and tell them that everyone should be allowed to feed the homeless anywhere and anytime we wish.

Title: Acts of Compassion Being Criminalized
Topic: Issues Affecting Texans
Discussed by Eric Dick
with Eric Dick Law Firm (www.dicklawfirm.com)

When did helping others in the name of love and compassion become a criminal act? More importantly – WHY is it a criminal act?

Attorney, political activist, and Vice President of the Board of Trustees for HCDE, Eric Dick, is here today to offer some insight into this harsh reality. What can we do to change this law?

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Is it our responsibility to help feed and clothe the needy, including the homeless?

A while back, tens of thousands of signatures were gathered on a petition when the City of Houston criminalized feeding the homeless. What happened with that petition?

Listen as Eric Dick discusses the lawsuit he has been hired to handle against the City of Houston concerning this issue.

How much money could you be fined if you feed more than five people during a 24 hour period?

Can ordinary citizens obtain a permit to distribute food to random people on the street? SHORT ANSWER: NO! Listen as Eric explains…
