Title: Is this a 'true way' to cap the growth in government spending?
Topic: Taxes and Government Spending
Discussed by State Representative Jimmy "Jim" Jackson
with Elected Officials
Usually there is more than one way to skin a cat... the same with trying to slow, or cap, the growth in government spending. State Representative Jim Jackson, Republican from Carrollton, explains the reasons behind HB 1479. This is an interesting concept: "Limit the growth in spending for any govermental entity in Texas to 5% from one year to the next with respect to dollars received and spent from taxes on real property." But, many wanting 'their idea' to be the one to pass have turned a deaf ear to any other idea. Politics is the art of compromise and the ability to work with others to achieve common goals. By pushing "my way or hit the highway", many times nothing is accomplished. Time is short. Time will tell us what happens... it will be fun to watch!
