Title: Christians Are Called to Protect and Defend the Cause of the Weak and Fatherless
Topic: Biblical Basis for our Civil Justice System
Discussed by Mary Alice McLarty
with Mary Alice McLarty (www.MaryAlice.com)

Part 1 of 2

There is one way in this country in which all are created equal. There is one human institution that makes the pauper the equal of a Rockefeller, and the ignorant man the equal of any college president. That institution is a court.

But if we close the courthouse door to the poor, the widow, the child, and the stay-at-home mom will God judge us for not defending the cause of the weak and fatherless?

Proverbs 29:7 The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern.

Too often the victim of “tort reform” pushed by big business and big insurance is the poor, the uneducated, the old, the young, and the stay-at-home mom in America.

Title: What do you do to a business that knowingly harms its customers?
Topic: Biblical Basis for our Civil Justice System
Discussed by Ryan Hodge
with Ryan Hodge (www.KansasLaw.com)

Segment 1 of 2

McDonalds knew they were burning their employees and customers with their ‘hot coffee’, but refused to turn down the heat for the sake of profits. Merck & Co. knew that VIOXX was harming patients. What do you do to businesses that continue to knowingly harm their customers? For the sake of profits, they continue to do business without changing their product or their method. Did God see the greed of man and instruct Moses to write about liability in the book of Exodus? Ryan Hodge, a Baylor graduate, joins us today with an interesting perspective on holding the wrong doer accountable. More information can be found at www.KansasLaw.com.

Segment 2 of 2

Is there a Biblical basis for our civil justice system? Did God instruct Moses to write about a person who digs a pit and does not properly cover it and someone falls in? What about someone who builds a home and does not properly construct the roof and someone falls through or even off the roof? Did God instruct Moses to write about liability? Ryan Hodge continues discussing the Biblical Basis for our Civil Justice System. More information can be found at www.KansasLaw.com.
