Title: What is Really Going on in Iraq?
Topic: Iraq
Discussed by State Representative Debbie Riddle
with Debbie Riddle www.DebbieRiddle.org
Debbie Riddle weeps when she
recalls her experience witnessing the first “free” election in Iraq. She was
surrounded by armored vehicles and armed escorts. She had to wear a hard-hat and
bullet-proof vest.
Despite the threat of violence – even murder – there was a 75% voter turnout in
that first election in Iraq. They were dressed to the nines and brought their
entire families to vote. They were proud at the progress their country had made.
They were over joyed thinking about the future.
Now, flip to America: Half of all Christians in America are not even registered
to vote; and only half of those Christians who are registered actually bother to
vote. We show up in flip slops and cut off shorts; we don’t include our children
– or even our spouses – in the process. There is little or no respect for the
process. It’s just another day. Another election. Big whoop.
The majority of people do not volunteer for a campaign. Even 2 hours a week will
save a candidate hundreds of dollars! Imagine if you and 5 of your friends
volunteered once a week for 2-3 hours, helping stuff envelopes or making phone
calls… You could save that person thousands of dollars!
It only takes one person, but imagine what hundreds or thousands could
accomplish! What will YOU do this November to right what’s wrong in America?
