Title: Boomers Know a Thing or Two Because They Have Seen a Thing or Two
Topic: Millennials Think Boomers Are Ignorant and Old Fashion
Discussed by Dr. Jane Orient
with Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (www.aapsonline.org)
Are millennials blinded by age-discrimination? Has
life been too easy on them? How can we fix it?
Dr. Jane Orient has been quoted, saying: “The younger generation throughout
its early years is trapped in age-segregated cocoons, surrounded by
guilt-inducing, fear-inspiring indoctrination; immersed in virtual reality.”
Dr. Orient is the author of “Your Doctor is Not In: Healthy Skepticism about
Nation Healthcare”. She has been the Executive Director of AAPS
since 1989.
Questions/Issues Discussed:
Have millennials been so isolated from the natural family, their cultural
history, opportunities to learn real-world skills, and dissenting opinions that
they see Boomers as ignorant and old-fashion?
Do we all do and believe some stupid things in our youth? How can we get past
those mistakes and misbeliefs? Why is this so much harder for millennials?
Dr. Orient benefited greatly growing up in an intact, traditional family. Do
millennials from broken homes suffer more than those in a traditional family
setting?
Did Boomers benefit or suffer from chores, which millennials consider to be
child abuse and hard labor?
Dr. Orient was able to successfully attend and graduate from Medical School
debt-free. Is this possible for today’s medical students?
What advice does Dr. Orient have for millennials today? You can read her article
here.
