Title: Choosing the Road He Chose
Topic: The Road He Chose
Discussed by Pastor David Fleming
with Champion Forest Baptist Church (www.ChampionForest.org)
Day 3
This week’s sermon
from Pastor David Fleming concludes the “Road He Chose” series. In his sermon, “Choosing the Road He Chose”, Pastor Fleming discusses the “Post Resurrection Realities” that we are responsible for here on earth.
The Scripture for this week’s sermon is from Luke 24:44 – “the last leg of the road He chose”.
Questions/Issues Discussed:
Have you texted, emailed, or called that person who needs to hear the gospel yet? If not, what are you waiting for? Today could be their last day on earth and they could spend eternity in hell. Tell them. Now.
So, what can we do starting now? Pastor Fleming has five action steps we can all follow:
1. Identify someone who needs the Lord
2. Intercede on their behalf (pray for that person)
3. Invest in building an authentic relationship with that person
4. Invite them to join you on the journey
5. Involve them in the Body of Christ
Look at your hands. Those hands are responsible for carrying out the mission of Jesus here on earth. What are your hands doing? What are they willing to do?
Join us next week as Pastor Averri LeMalle kicks off a brand new sermon series: “Made to Thrive”.

The Scripture for this week’s sermon is from Luke 24:44 – “the last leg of the road He chose”.
Questions/Issues Discussed:
Pastor Fleming reminds us that we don’t need to know all the little things from the Bible. It’s the big things that matter.
When was the last time you got out of your comfort zone? Is your little box more important than someone’s eternity?
“If God can speak through a man’s donkey, He can speak through [you],” Pastor Fleming says.
Post Resurrection Reality #4: We will account for our activity until… vs 50
Is our mission ever complete?
When Jesus returns, what will you be doing?
Are you excited for heaven?

What is the plan that God has assigned us? Are you following that plan?
Do you know someone who needs to hear the Truth today? Text them! Call them! Plan a lunch date. Don’t put it off any longer.
Post Resurrection Reality #3: We have what we need to do. vs 49
Are you alone in this journey? Duh – no! He is always there, helping and guiding you. Plus, there are others you can turn to, as well.
When was the last time you experienced the power and presence of God? Listen as Pastor Fleming shares when he feels God’s power and presence…
Is sharing the gospel easy?

Day 2

The Scripture for this week’s sermon is from Luke 24:44 – “the last leg of the road He chose”.
Questions/Issues Discussed:
Church, God, and religion are not always on someone’s mind. We aren’t born saved. We must learn the truth and accept the truth personally. Listen as Pastor Fleming shares his father’s salvation story. He was a rough and tumble man, but he listened to a pastor who was willing to take time to tell him the truth. It changed his father’s life. Amen!
Do you ever text during church? Don’t lie! We all do it occasionally, right? Well, Pastor Fleming encouraged his congregation to do something most pastors would never dream of in this segment.
Would you have knowledge of the gospel if someone hadn’t told you? Someone told them... and someone told that person… and so on…
Post Resurrection Reality #2:
We know now what to do. vs 47
Why is it important to tell others of the Good News?
Is everyone qualified to share the gospel?
Are we all witnesses to Christ’s resurrection?
His story is your story. Who will you share it with today?

The Scripture for this week’s sermon is from Luke 24:44 – “the last leg of the road He chose”.
Questions/Issues Discussed:
Jesus knew what agony awaited him on the road to the cross. He knew the pain he would experience on the cross. Why, then, did he continue? Why didn’t he stop it?
Was the end of his road the beginning of ours?
Were there still some disciples who doubted that Jesus had risen from the dead?
Post Resurrection Reality #1: We are grateful for what God has done for us. vs 44
Is John 3:16 still true today? You bet it is!
Are we all covered under the blood of Jesus? Or is it just for some of us? Is it just for the “good” people?
Were we all created to glorify God?
Genesis 3 offers both good and bad news. Listen as Pastor Fleming reminds us what Adam and Eve did that separated us from God…
Pastor Fleming also shares his personal testimony of accepting Jesus Christ as his Savior…

with Champion Forest Baptist Church (www.ChampionForest.org)
Day 5
Champion Forest
Baptist Church Senior Pastor David Fleming continues with “The Road He
Chose” series with a fantastic sermon from Luke 24:13-35.
“It’s the Week after Easter” will challenge you to put yourself in the disciple’s shoes. How would you feel if the Son of God – your leader – your friend – had just been crucified, but then showed up again?
Questions/Issues Discussed:
IV. Application: vs 27-35
When did the men finally recognize Jesus?
What happened when they finally did?
Why is it important to know that the women discovered the empty tomb first?
What moment changed everything?
Did the disciples return to Jerusalem filled with sorrow or joy?
Pastor Fleming offers three words we can all live by in the reality of Jesus’ resurrection:
Believe
Expect
And Join
Pastor Fleming reminds us that the resurrection does not mean that you are tied to your shame, sin, and separation. The resurrection means that you are born again to live new life.

Questions/Issues Discussed:
(Review of Pastor Fleming’s third point: The Conclusion. But wait – there’s more Friday!)
“Without the resurrection the crucifixion means nothing. With the resurrection, the crucifixion means everything – and changes everything,” Pastor Fleming reminds us. This is the purpose of Jesus’ life and death on earth.
What did Jesus and the name of God mean to the people of the Old Testament?
(Note: These appear in the order which Pastor Fleming mentioned them in his sermon during this segment.)

Exodus: The Passover Lamb, or Lamb of God
Leviticus: The Great High Priest
Deuteronomy: A Great Prophet
Joshua: Captain of the Lord of Hosts
Judges: Deliverer
Ruth: Redeemer

Questions/Issues Discussed:
Have you forgotten the meaning of Easter? Do you need another look at the cross today? Do you need a reminder of your who, what, when, where, and why?
III. Conclusion: vs 25-27
What did the men miss from Jesus’ purpose on earth and his death on the cross?
Had the disciples forgotten their mission?
Were the disciples too sad to continue their mission?
What were the disciples missing in Jesus message?
Is your life really “that bad”? Do you often complain over “temporary problems”?

Why were the men so sad if they knew Jesus would be back? What was their response when Jesus asked them about their sadness?
Did they not believe him?
Why was Jesus confused over the fact that the men were leaving Jerusalem?
Real Life Question: Do you often go out to eat after church on Sunday? How do you treat your waiter/waitress? Do you speak with kindness? What is your conversation like? Can others tell you just went to church?

The disciples had a hard weekend. They were distraught. They were exhausted. They wanted to leave the area and just go home. But then, they saw Jesus again – or was it just a man who looked like Jesus? After all, Jesus, their friend, was dead!

If you missed hearing Pastor David Fleming’s Easter sermon in person, well you’re in luck! This week, you get the opportunity to hear “The Greatest Turnaround in History” from Luke 23 and 24.
Questions/Issues Discussed:
Why is it so hard for us to believe something from a simple story? Why do we want “proof”?
Remember: There is nothing impossible for God. Therefore, nothing is impossible for US with God.
Have you examined the evidence for yourself? What have you concluded about the resurrection?
If you or someone you know is struggling with doubt concerning Jesus and the resurrection, Pastor Fleming recommends Mark Lanier’s book, “Christianity on Trial”.

Questions/Issues Discussed:
What does the “Post Resurrection Turnaround” teach us about disappointment?
* The resurrection reminds us that sad disappointments are God’s sovereign appointments.
* Jesus is alive. He lives in you. He will never disappoint you.
Are you surprised when you are disappointed? Do you focus on money, your job, pleasure, a pill, or a bottle? Do those things satisfy you or leave you disappointed?
Are you happy even with nothing to show? Or do you complain about your circumstances?
Are you ever doubtful? The disciples doubted the three ladies testimony of the empty tomb. They wanted to see it for themselves.

If you missed hearing Pastor David Fleming’s Easter sermon in person, well you’re in luck! This week, you get the opportunity to hear “The Greatest Turnaround in History” from Luke 23 and 24.
Questions/Issues Discussed:
Do you have a “Post Resurrection Turnaround”?
Are you discouraged? The three women who went to the tomb to finish the burial process for Jesus were discouraged, but they didn’t let that get them down! Remember:
“It’s not over until it’s over. And it’s not over until we win!”
* Focus and keep showing up.
* Remember, it’s a team effort.
* Keep your eye on the ball (Jesus).
Have you ever been discouraged? Pastor Fleming has several terrific quotes for us to remember from this segment when we are feeling down and out and discouraged, using Romans 8:28 as a reference:
“Just keep swinging because God has guaranteed the victory in the resurrection power of Jesus.”
“Jesus didn’t win the victory over death to let you lose in life.”

Questions/Issues Discussed:
A PICTURE OF PARTNERSHIP:
What if Jesus needs your “donkey”? Will you partner with Jesus?
Jesus used the men’s donkey because he had a need for it. They “partnered” with Jesus in his time of need.
The question is not “What is Jesus going to do with my donkey?” The question is: “What would Jesus do without it?”
Will you give your donkey to Jesus?

Over the next few weeks, pastors from Champion Forest Baptist Church will be teaching a series of sermons on “The Road He Chose: Through the Cross to the Empty Tomb”.
The second sermon in this series is from David Fleming, the senior pastor at the Champions Campus. The sermon is entitled: “His Suffering. Our Salvation” and includes the Lord’s Supper. Pastor Fleming encourages you to listen to the full sermon, reflect on the sacrifice Jesus made for us all, and partake in your own “private” Lord’s Supper.
Questions/Issues Discussed:
Today, we offer the opportunity for you to participate in “open communion” with Pastor David Fleming. You don’t need a wafer or cracker or wine or juice. You just need an open heart, mind, and spirit.
But, first – before participating in the Lord’s Supper, Pastor Fleming encourages you to reflect on why we partake in communion. Only born-again believers in Jesus Christ as the Son of God should participate. Are you a born-again Christian? If not, listen as Pastor Fleming leads in the sinner’s prayer…

NOTE: Song sung during communion
Song: Near the Cross
Artist: Fanny Crosby, 1869

Day 3
Over the next few weeks, pastors from Champion Forest Baptist Church will be teaching a series of sermons on “The Road He Chose: Through the Cross to the Empty Tomb”.
Jesus knew what was going to happen to him – all the pain and suffering he would endure… Why did he continue? Why didn’t he stop it?
Listen as Pastor Fleming offers several more scriptures as reference in response to this “why” question…
What is the purpose of the veil and curtain? Were they merely symbolic?
Are we born perfect or condemned? Hint: This is actually not a trick question…
Pastor Fleming offers this reminder: “You have a choice. But be careful and make a good decision. Because faith changes everything forever.”

Questions/Issues Discussed:
Parents: Be Warned: Some of the details of Jesus’ death in this segment may be upsetting to younger listeners.
Were the people violent toward Jesus when he was on his way to the cross?
The Romans were experts in death, but they were better at making people suffer through torture. How did they treat Jesus?
What did Jesus say as he was dying on the cross?
Was Jesus surprised by the amount of suffering he experienced?
So, why did Jesus do it? Pastor Fleming has several answers to this question… Tune in tomorrow for more.

Listen as Pastor Fleming reads from Luke 18:31-34… These verses remind us that no one forced Jesus to go, even though he knew what was to happen. He was not surprised by the actions of the people. He could have run the other way, but he chose to continue on the path God, his Father, had laid out for him.
Why did the Jewish leaders want Jesus dead? Did the people just blindly follow and believe their lies?
What were his crimes? Did Jesus actually do anything wrong?
Were the people violent toward Jesus?

Title: Set to Go
Topic: The Road He Chose
Discussed by Pastor Averri LeMalle
with Champion Forest Baptist Church (www.ChampionForest.org)
Day 5
Over the next few weeks, pastors from Champion Forest Baptist Church will be teaching a series of sermons on “The Road He Chose: Through the Cross to the Empty Tomb”.
The first sermon in this series is from Averri LeMalle, the teaching pastor at the Champions Campus. The title of his sermon is “Set to Go”, focusing on Luke 9:51-56.
Questions/Issues Discussed:
Paul wrote in Ephesians 6:10-20 about the “Whole Armor of God”. Have you read these verses lately? It may be time for a refresher….
“Divine Demonstrations of Determination” that Jesus exhibited:
1. Jesus was decisive about fulfilling his destiny (Luke 9:51)
2. Jesus was dedicated to go the distance (Luke 9:52-53)
3. Jesus was determined to not be distracted (Luke 9:54-55)
The final is: Jesus was devoted to our deliverance (Luke 9:56)
Jesus continued to fulfill his destiny simply because he loves us. He was dedicated to go all the way for us.
When God stands at the starting line and shouts “Get ready! Get set! Go!” will you be ready?

Day 4
Over the next few weeks, pastors from Champion Forest Baptist Church will be teaching a series of sermons on “The Road He Chose: Through the Cross to the Empty Tomb”.
The first sermon in this series is from Averri LeMalle, the teaching pastor at the Champions Campus. The title of his sermon is “Set to Go”, focusing on Luke 9:51-56.
Questions/Issues Discussed:
On Tuesday, Pastor Averri LeMalle discussed the first two “Divine Demonstrations of Determination” that Jesus exhibited:
1. Jesus was decisive about fulfilling his destiny (Luke 9:51)
2. Jesus was dedicated to go the distance (Luke 9:52-53)
The third is: Jesus was determined to not be distracted (Luke 9:54-55)
One of the biggest distractions for Christians is the life of the unbeliever. When someone isn’t ready to follow Jesus, do you judge and condemn them? Or do you continue to love and pray for them?
Why is a car windshield larger than the rearview mirror?
Pastor LeMalle says this: “Magnify what is most important [so you can] minimize the distractions.”

Questions/Issues Discussed:
Do your friends know what you like and don’t like? There should be one thing about you that everyone knows: that you are a child of God!
Is your commitment to God public? Even strangers you meet should know you are a Christian! Can they see your commitment?
Listen as Pastor Averri shares a story about John Stephen Akhwari from Tanzania in the 1968 Olympics... John said this after the race: “My country didn’t send me to start the race. They sent me to finish the race.”
Will you finish the race?
Have you told anyone what the Lord has done for you lately?

Has God ever failed you? Has He ever left you alone? Has He ever forgotten you? You may have felt alone, but He is always there watching out for you.
Pastor LeMalle has several “Divine Demonstrations of Determination”:
1. Jesus was decisive about fulfilling his destiny (Luke 9:51)
In addition, Luke 9:22 says this: “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.”
2. Jesus was dedicated to go the distance (Luke 9:52-53)
Jesus knew what his destiny was and yet he still followed His Father’s will.
Tune in tomorrow for more on this…
