Title: See Something. Say Something. But Wait a Minute
Topic: Parenting a Child with Autism
Discussed by Brandon Logan
with Texas Public Policy Foundation (www.TexasPolicy.com)
“We should be reaching out in love and community to parents who may need
support, rather than calling government authorities,” says Texas Public
Policy Foundation’s Brandon Logan. “This is the key to
rebuilding a civil society that cherishes and organically protects children.”
Questions/Issues Discussed:
Listen as Brandon Logan explains what happened to one family in Austin involving
the police…
Last year, 300,000 calls were made to Child Protective Services. How
many of those calls resulted in a case where abuse or neglect were discovered?
HINT: The number is tiny. Minuscule. Almost non-existent.
What are some other things people can do instead of calling the police or
CPS when abuse or neglect is suspected?
Brandon Logan says: “Observing from afar doesn’t give us an indication of
what’s going on with a family. And it certainly won’t give us any evidence that
a child is being abused or neglected.”
