Title: What a Gift
Topic: The Greatest Gift
Discussed by Pastor Averri LeMalle
with Champion Forest Baptist Church (www.ChampionForest.org)
Part 5
Pastor Averri LeMalle continues this week in the Christmas Series
based on John 3:16, “The Greatest Gift”, with the second sermon: “What
a Gift”.
Please Note: We will conclude the sermon series the week after Christmas.
Questions/Issues Discussed:
Listen as Pastor Averri tells a story about frozen birds. Don’t worry – it’s a good story!
Nothing has changed in over 2,000 years: Jesus still came from Heaven to live as a man on Earth and die for the sins of the world. Period. Don’t celebrate the best season of the year without receiving the best gift of all.
“When you come to Christ, you have Christmas every day knowing that God is with us,” Pastor LeMalle says at the end of his sermon. Amen!

Questions/Issues Discussed:
What did Jesus say about God, the Father? John 5:17-18 “17But Jesus answered them, ‘My Father is working until now, and I am working.’
18This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.”
Pastor LeMalle continues with several other Scripture passages: John 8:54-59 and John 10:30-33, among others.
How did Abraham and Moses affect the people even a thousand years later?

Day 5
Pastor David Fleming
has a new series for the month of December: The Greatest Gift. Join us each week as Pastor Fleming offers hope during this busy holiday season, using the most famous passage in the Bible, John 3:16.
Please Note: We will conclude the sermon series the week after Christmas.
Questions/Issues Discussed:
The final phrase Pastor Fleming reviews today in John 3:16 is “the world”… “For God so loved the world…”
Have you ever thought about the real sacrifice God made sending Jesus to live on earth as a man, only to be killed by the very people he was sent to save? Could you do it?
We have made a mess of this world. Do you think God regrets sending His only son to save it? Good news: God still loves all the people in the world! He just doesn’t love the sin in the world.
If you have never received God’s gift of eternal life through His son Jesus Christ, don’t wait! Please contact a counselor or pastor at Champion Forest Baptist Church at 281.440.3800 to speak to someone today!

Questions/Issues Discussed:
The next phrase Pastor Fleming focuses on in John 3:16 is “so loved”….”For God so loved…”
What does agape mean? 1 John 4:8 explains it perfectly: “God is love.”
“You were always on God’s mind.” What a wonderful declaration and reminder from Pastor Fleming. You are not an afterthought. You are not an “oopsie”. God didn’t forget to add you to His Christmas List. The present is already there, waiting for you to receive it.
Have you received that gift yet? If not, will you today? Please contact a counselor or pastor at Champion Forest Baptist Church at 281.440.3800 to speak to someone today!
Would you be willing to sacrifice your child to save the world? Not likely. But God was willing – and He did it for you.

Questions/Issues Discussed:
God didn’t sell His son. He didn’t negotiate a contract. He didn’t trade something for His son’s life. He GAVE freely and willingly so we can have everlasting life in heaven.
Combine the first and second words in John 3:16 is “For God”… Pastor Fleming says, “We could just stop right there!” Those two words explain it all, right?
Why is God “God”? Why isn’t God a “god”? This is a tough question for some people to understand, but it’s really quite simple. Other “gods” (which don’t even exist) want “things”; God just wants you. Pastor Fleming uses Paul’s letter to the Ephesians in chapter 1 to explain this further.

Questions/Issues Discussed:
Pastor Fleming continues to explain why Nicodemus was so confused by the concept of salvation and rebirth in Christ.
How does Ezekiel 36:25-27 fit into the Christmas story?
Is baptism really important? “Baptism doesn’t save you,” Pastor Fleming says. “Faith saves you.” But – YES! Baptism is absolutely important! Listen as Pastor explains…
Why did God give His son to the world? God didn’t sell His son. He didn’t negotiate a contract. He didn’t trade something for His son’s life. He GAVE freely and willingly so we can have everlasting life in heaven.

The Greatest Gift. Join us each week as Pastor Fleming offers hope during this busy holiday season, using the most famous passage in the Bible, John 3:16.
Please Note: We will conclude the sermon series the week after Christmas.
Questions/Issues Discussed:
What is the best gift you have ever received? Have you ever gotten a gift that made you questions what the giver was thinking? Have you ever “regifted” that unwanted gift?
We all know that Jesus is the Reason for the Season and he is the best gift ever. But what does that gift mean to you?
Do you have John 3:16 memorized? If you grew up in church, of pretty much any denomination, you probably memorized this verse in Sunday School. Pastor Fleming will be breaking down this wonderful, single verse over the next four weeks.
Why is the first word of John 3:16, “for”, so important? Pastor Fleming believes to fully understand this word, you must first examine the verses preceding it beginning in verse1.
What does it mean to be born again? Why was Nicodemus so confused over the concept?
