Title: Is God Still Blessing America?
Topic: God Bless America
Discussed by Pastor Ed Ethridge
with Champion Forest Baptist Church (www.ChampionForest.org)
Part 1 of 2
What does it mean when we say or sing “God Bless America”?
Our second US President, John Adams, cautioned: “Our government is wholly inadequate for a people who are not moral and religious.”
Pastor Ed Ethridge guides us through our responsibilities as Christians and God’s obligations to His people.
Questions/Issues Discussed:
Can we pass enough laws and/or hire enough enforcers (policemen) to force citizens to obey the law voluntarily?
When we say, “God Bless America”, do we really understand that there is a connection between personal responsibility and faithfulness to God AND the experience of divine blessing?
2 Chronicles 7 14"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
Is this what every Christian should be praying daily?

Title: The Story Behind the Song: “God Bless America”
Topic: God Bless America
Discussed by Bill Federer
with American Minute (www.AmericanMinute.com)
Did you know: The writer of “God Bless America” also wrote:
“I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas”, “Alexander’s Ragtime Band”,
and “There’s no Business Like Show Business”, among many others.
The son of a Rabbi, Irving Berlin was born on May 11, 1888. When he was four, his family emigrated from Russia to New York. Irving served as a US infantry sergeant in WWI. In addition to writing “God Bless America” and the above-mentioned songs, he also wrote the famous Broadway musical “This is the Army”, which starred Ronald Reagan in the 1943 film version. People far and wide loved the musical so much that President Truman actually gave Irving the Army’s Medal of Merit in 1945! (Irving was given several other awards, as well. Listen in fore more.)
Bill Federer, our special guest historian, gives more details about Irving Berlin and his song “God Bless America”. This segment is packed with interesting information about the song and its impact on the American people, not to mention people around the world. Please share with your friends and family.
BONUS: Upon receiving the Congressional Gold Medal in 1955, Irving Berlin told President Eisenhower:
"To me, 'God Bless America' was not just a song, but an expression of my feeling toward the country to which I owe what I have and what I am."
