Part 1 of 2
Have you watched TV lately? Do you go to the movies? Do your children play video games with guns involved? Where is the outcry here?
Every time a mass shooting occurs in America, there is tremendous outcry for more gun control from the Main Stream Media. Actors and celebrities shed tears in infomercials. President Obama reads from the same speech saying we have to take away all the guns. We are encouraged to call our elected officials, urging them to place more restrictions on gun purchases or making them illegal. The MSM condemns guns, gun shop owners, and gun owners themselves. After all, if there weren’t any gun stores, criminals couldn’t obtain them!
Wrong! Criminals don’t buy guns legally at gun shops. They buy them off the street or steal them!
John Horvat, with Return to Order, describes the true culture of those who legally own guns as “responsible, controlled, and restrained”. However, movies, television, and video games portray guns as “glamorous, powerful, and a way to obtain instant gratification”. The average citizen who typically owns a gun or two are not “trigger happy cowboys” like the media portrays them. They know when and why to use a gun – for hunting and self-defense.
As for the men (rarely women) who commit mass killings across our land, John Horvat blames the media. “These mass killings are straight out of a Hollywood script. They’re not out of a NRA manual.” John also gives an explanation on the demographics of the majority of mass killers. Listen in to the next segment with him for more!
Terry Lowry, host, describes the “Taken” movie series in this first segment. If you aren’t familiar with the movies, short version is: Guns, guns, and more guns. The star of the movies is actor Liam Neeson, an outspoken critic of gun ownership. How does he explain the millions of dollars he has made from these gun-toting movies?
He can’t! He should give his profits to a shelter for battered women and children!

Responsible gun owners in America are, for the most, quiet and
discreet. They are not in your face, screaming and hollering “our
way or the highway”. They simply want to protect their families and hunt
recreationally. Then, on the flip side, there are the liberals in the media who
hate guns and want to get rid of them all, but use them to promote their
television shows, movies, and video games, hoping for higher ratings. And who
gives them higher ratings? Gun-toting Americans! What hypocrites.
FACT: During Saturday morning cartoons, there are 20-25 acts of violence per
hour. The average child who watches 2 hours of TV every day will see more than
10,000 violent acts per year. Is it time to unplug the cable from your
household?
John Horvat doesn’t necessarily believe that guns need to be curtailed in the
media. However, he does believe the glamorous praise of guns needs to be
rejected by society. He goes on to say “We need to be more consistent in our
message. We (the left and the right) need to get together to help solve the
problem.” Taking guns away from honest, hard-working Americans is not the
answer. Placing more restrictions on gun ownership might help temporarily, but
is definitely not a long-term solution. We can, however, hold the media
accountable for their own actions.
