Title: Rage: The New Standard for Public Discourse
Topic: Spiritual Warfare
Discussed by John Horvat
with Return to Order www.ReturnToOrder.org

Part 1 of 3

Author of  “Return to Order” John Horvat writes: “There is an effort to get Americans to hate fellow Americans. We see this unfolding before our eyes as violence is destroying the once-stable American order. The situation is hard to understand because we are all Americans. This identity, which we hold sacred, is what has always defined and unified us, despite our differences.”

Click here to read John’s op-ed, “Rage: The New Standard for Public Discourse”.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Is the Left’s goal to make us hate our shared identity?

Despite our differences, are we still all Americans?

Is the Left’s political agenda revolutionary, desiring to tear down the American system? “Their idea is to make us doubt all certainties,” John says.

Is this to prepare us for revolutionary change?

The MSM would have us believe that we hate each other. I don’t hate the sinner, but hate the sin against God and their violent actions. Am I wrong in feeling this way? Or is this righteous judgment?

We live, work, pray, worship, and serve together. Why is their focus on getting us to hate each other?

Can civil discourse be productive if done in a peaceful and respectful manner?

Is economic prosperity a thing of the past as a result of the continued COVID-19 lockdowns?

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Can government (local, state, or federal) re-establish civil order if the hearts and minds of too many do not want it?

The devil wants to transform our Christian nation into a nation that is anti-God and anti-moral. Can the devil succeed while the old American identity still exists and functions?

Is it past time for Christians to stand up and say “Enough is enough!”?

Title: Is Spiritual Warfare Spreading in the UK?
Topic: Spiritual Warfare
Discussed by Viktor Hamm
with Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (www.billygraham.org/

The devil must tremble at the thought of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association preaching the Word of God throughout the UK. Will the ban on Franklin Graham speaking at major venues in the UK spread throughout the world, including here in the US?

Vice President of Crusade Ministries Reverend Viktor Hamm provides leadership to evangelistic events for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. He joined BGEA in 1991, serving in Europe as an Associate Evangelist with Dr. Billy Graham.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

How long does it take to plan a major eight-city Graham Tour in the UK?

Why is there opposition to the Gospel being preached in the UK? Who are the opposers?

Can this opposition be called spiritual warfare?

In our local Baptist church in the Houston area, a visiting Southern Baptist church planter from the UK stated that believers in the UK amount to about 3% of the population, 2% in France and ½% in Greece. Is the church on its last legs in Europe?

How can we pray for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association?

Title: Now What, God?
Topic: Spiritual Warfare
Discussed by Pastor David Ireland
with Pastor David Ireland (www.davidireland.org)

Part 1 of 2

Across our country and around the world, prayer is needed now more than ever. After tragedy strikes, many people often ask “Why, God?” However, Pastor David Ireland believes we should instead ask, “What now, God?” David Ireland is the lead pastor of Christ Church, a multi-cultural mega church in New Jersey. He says that when we ask “Why, God?” we are distancing ourselves from Him. “Turn the question into something better.”

Pastor David also discusses why there is evil this world and how we should approach God and evil. He says, “People make the faulty assumption that just because God is all-powerful means that He can do anything.” What does Pastor Ireland mean by this statement? Listen in.

Title: Part 2 of 2 - Now What, God?
Topic: Spiritual Warfare
Discussed by Pastor David Ireland
with Pastor David Ireland (www.davidireland.org)

C.S. Lewis once said: “A man can no more diminish God’s glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word ‘darkness’ on the walls of his cell.

Why does evil exist in this world? Pastor David Ireland has two responses to this question: 1) We have wrong assumptions about God; and 2) God-given freewill. He reminds us that we are not God; we cannot possibly know why bad things happen in this world. What we do know is this: “We have a God that comforts us. We have a God who is so vested in human beings that He delights in showing mercy and compassion.

Listen in as Pastor David expands on this and talks about God’s ultimate purpose with humans. And remember: Never, ever underestimate the power of prayer. It is essential to the walk of a believer. Prayer not only changes you for the better; it changes the world. “Prayer is a real conversation with God,” Pastor Ireland says.

Romans 8:28 “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Title: Spiritual Warfare
Topic: Spiritual Warfare
Discussed by Dr. Chuck Lawless
with Dr. Chuck Lawless (www.ChuckLawless.com)

Part 1 of 3

There is a war going on, and I’m not referring to the saga in the Middle East. It’s a war on Earth between heaven and hell. Between angels and demons. Between good and evil. There is an evil in this world that seeks only to kill and destroy everything its wake. And Christians are the number one target.

Dr. Chuck Lawless serves as Professor of Evangelism and Missions and Dean of Graduate Studies at Southeastern Seminary in North Carolina. He has written and taught about spiritual warfare for over twenty years. He has a written a new piece entitled “13 Truths about Spiritual Warfare for Leaders for Thom Rainer Ministries, where he has a weekly column.

Many people make the critical mistake in thinking the Bible is about the devil. The Bible is about God; it is His instruction book to us. We need to switch the focus off of the devil and onto knowing God and what He wants us to do. This brings us to the next truth: The devil is very, very real. He is more active today than he ever has been and he has a specific battle strategy for every person.

God is our warrior. He will win the fight for us. But we must do our part. People are not the enemy; the devil is the enemy. Even when people frustrate and anger us, they are not our enemy. We will react differently to confrontation when we recognize that there is a supernatural enemy behind this.

Title: Part 2 of 3 - Spiritual Warfare
Topic: Spiritual Warfare
Discussed by Dr. Chuck Lawless
with Dr. Chuck Lawless (www.ChuckLawless.com)

In this second segment with Dr. Lawless, he discusses how our leaders are the devil’s primary targets: church leaders, political leaders, business leaders – even fathers and husbands, the head of the household. He knows what buttons to push. He knows the weak spots. He will use that to his advantage and to their destruction every time. But good news! God forgives our shortcomings – even the big ones! Pray for your leaders every day. Don’t wait until the “big story” comes out about their sin. Cover them in prayer now.

We can see evidence of the devil’s work everywhere, not just in churches. We can’t just stay in the darkness, though, because we might be afraid of people finding out our sins. You don’t have to publish them for everyone to see, but we do need to have accountability in our lives. Listen in as Dr. Lawless explains.

Title: Part 3 of 3 - Spiritual Warfare
Topic: Spiritual Warfare
Discussed by Dr. Chuck Lawless
with Dr. Chuck Lawless (www.ChuckLawless.com)

People standing alone are easy targets. Pastors often feel that they have no one to talk to about their sins and worries. It is important for pastors to surround themselves with other spiritual leaders. We must be in frequent prayer for ourselves and our leaders. We cannot win alone; neither can our church leaders.

The devil will never stop trying to attack us. We will not win every battle. We will have leaders who disappoint us, but that doesn’t mean we must cast the sinner out to be devoured by the wolves.

Dr. Lawless can be found here  with Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. You can also receive updates from him here.
