Title: The Teacher is Always Right, Right?
Topic: Freedom of Religion Defended
Discussed by Eric Buehrer
with Gateways to Better Education www.GoGateways.org

Has your child ever been told they cannot talk about Jesus or God during an assignment? Have they been told that “religious” gifts are not allowed to be given to other children around certain holidays? We live in a society of “separation of church and state” and too many people misunderstand this concept. Parents also often mistakenly believe everything a teacher, administrator, or even Principal says regarding religion (or no religion) being allowed in the classroom.

Eric Buehrer is a former school teacher-turned minister. He is here today to explain your rights and the rights of your child at public school regarding their religion. He says, “This information [regarding religious freedom in schools] is directly from the US Department of Education, not from some Conservative think tank.” The Supreme Court is also on the side of religion!

Gateways for Better Education has some great resources for parents, teachers, administrators, and even students. Click [here]  for the complete list of the Free to Speak Pamphlet direct from the US Department of Education.

Title: Right to Worship in Your Own Home
Topic: Freedom of Religion Defended
Discussed by Justin Butterfield
with Liberty Institute www.LibertyInstitute.org

Sometimes Home Owners Associations think they can rule the roost and intimidate homeowners into doing what “they” want. This has happened time and time again. The Texas Legislature has tried to put the reins on HOA’s, with little to no luck in the past. Not this time!

Justin Butterfield, with the Liberty Institute, is an attorney who specializes in religious liberty laws. A small group of orthodox Jews decided to meet privately in a home and had been for several years. The location had changed several times over the years to accommodate their religious belief of not riding in a car on the Sabbath. Listen in as Justin explains the rest of the story….

Some of the people who joined the lawsuit against this tiny congregation were just outrageous in their claims! Needing to stop for a blind person. Waiting for a woman with a baby stroller to cross the street. Really?

A State District Judge made the ruling that…..Listen in to hear who won! The story is quite fascinating!

What about city, county, or even state ordinances? Do they have the right to stop someone from holding religious meetings in their home? For more on this and other issues regarding religious liberty, click [here].
