Part 1 of 3
Port Royal, Jamaica surpassed Boston as England’s most prosperous New World
Settlement. Half of the 200 ships a year passing through this port transported
slaves, liquor and contraband trade.
Port Royal was called “the richest and wickedest" city in the world. Many called
it “the Sodom of the New World”.
Did it deserve being destroyed?

Part 2 of 3
Suddenly, on June 7,
1692, an earthquake shook violently, then a tsunami which was followed by many
aftershocks.
Enormous waves tossed ships from the harbor onto buildings, and in many places
the ground opened up and “swallow’d up multitudes of people…”
One member of the Jamaica Council declared: “…an instance of God Almighty’s
severe judgment…”
But how long did it take for a revival to start?

An earthquake and tsunami
destroyed the Sodom of the New World, Port Royal, on June 7, 1692.
Will God have to resurrect Sodom and Gomorrah, breathe life into those dead, dry
bones, get on His knees and ask the inhabitants that He killed for forgiveness,
if He does not judge America?
Oh God, forgive me, for I am such a sinner….may Your people humble themselves
and pray and seek Your face and turn from their wicked ways; so that You will
hear from heaven, and forgive our sin and heal our land.
