Part 1 of 3
Our great nation is divided. Some say like never before. But the country was actually splitting apart leading up to and after the election of Abraham Lincoln in November 1860. Lincoln won less than 40% of the popular vote…this is a great nonfiction read for all ages.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Brad Meltzer is an award-winning author of many books, including some

about his newest children’s book, “I am Lucille Ball”. After writing books about Amelia
Earhart, Rosa Parks, Albert Einstein, and others, why would Brad write about
Lucille Ball? Wasn’t she just a redhead who did some crazy stuff for TV?
Brad says that Lucille Ball was more than just a comedian; she was an
entrepreneur and one smart cookie. She did whatever it took to make people
happy, even if that meant sweeping up the floor! Brad has other reasons for
including Lucille Ball in his “Ordinary People Change the World” series. Listen in as he explains

Brad Meltzer is a great story-teller. With his new

all ethnicities what a real hero looks like. Real heroes don’t have hit songs or
star in a bunch of movies. Real heroes don’t make millions of dollars playing
football or baseball.
Those are not heroes. They are just “famous people”. Real heroes stand up for
what is wrong and let their voices be heard.
Who is the real Rosa Parks? What was she like as a child? What was the real
reason behind her refusal to move on the bus that day?
Rosa inspired so many people – blacks and whites alike. Listen in as Brad talks

Part 1 of 2
Brad Meltzer
is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Inner
Circle, The Book of Fate, and seven other bestselling thrillers.
In addition to his fiction, Brad is one of the only authors to ever
have books on the bestseller list for Non-Fiction (History Decoded), Advice
(Heroes for My Son and Heroes for My Daughter), Children’s Books (I
Am Amelia Earhart, I Am Abraham Lincoln, I Am Albert Einstein and I Am
Rosa Parks) and
even comic books (Justice League of America), for which he won the prestigious
Eisner Award.
He is also the host of “Brad Meltzer’s Lost History” on H2 and “Brad Meltzer’s
Decoded” on the History Channel. The Hollywood Reporter recently put him on
their list of Hollywood’s 25 Most Powerful Authors. Brad has been on the What’s
UP Radio Program many times over the years. It is an honor to have him with us
again today.
His newest novel
The President’s Shadow will undoubtedly make it to
the top of the New York Times list. But, how did Brad get to be such a great
author? It all began back in 8th grade English class. He is also a lover of
history, so he combined them both! Listen in as Brad tells his story.
Brad also discusses how he and George and Barbara Bush became great friends
after the former President requested a signed copy of one of his books! If you
look at pictures from Barbara’s recent 90th birthday celebration, you’ll see
Brad standing next to her as she blows out her candles! You don’t want to miss
the rest of this story, either!
Brad also gives a sneak peek into the beginning of his newest book The
President’s Shadow and how he
does research for each of his books. One secret service agent revealed that
President Reagan carried a gun and another disclosed the fact that there are
more floors in the White House under the basement!
NOTE: Brad has some new children’s book coming out soon, including
I am Helen
Keller which will have real brail included so your kids and grandkids can feel
it! So exciting!

Title: The Real Albert Einstein
Topic: Book Review
Discussed by Brad Meltzer
with Brad Meltzer www.BradMeltzer.com
“The more questions you ask, the more answers you’ll find. And the more
beauty you’ll uncover in the universe.” – Albert Einstein
Brad Meltzer has written many books over the years. “Heroes for my Son” and
“Heroes for my Daughter” are New York Time’s Best Sellers. Brad even has several
other books for kids, including his newest must read, “I am Albert Einstein”.
Brad does an excellent job in “I am Albert Einstein” of painting a vivid picture
for the reader about the real life of Albert Einstein. Where did Einstein go to
school and did he get good grades? How did his father influence him?
Brad Meltzer isn’t interested in just “selling books”. His desire is for you to
build a library of real books with real heroes for your kids and grandkids. A
few of the books to choose from are: “I am Rosa Parks”, “I am Abraham Lincoln”,
and “I am Amelia Earhart”. In January, Brad will release “I am Jackie Robinson”.
Amazing people with amazing stories. Log on to
www.BradMeltzer.com and start
influencing your kids’ and grandkids’ future today.
Listen to this entire interview, friends. You will cry. Brad tells the story of
who the biggest influencer in his life was – who encouraged him to write and
keep writing. It is a tremendous story. Share this link with your friends on
Facebook and followers on Twitter. It just might be the encouragement someone
needs to keep going and pressing on toward their dream.

Title: Real Heroes - Not Just Famous People
Topic: Book Review
Discussed by Brad Meltzer

Part 1 of 3
Kids love celebrities – singing their songs, dressing like them, emulating
their basketball stance, buying their products. Hey – even adults do this! But
what about “real heroes”? How much do you know – how much do your kids know –
about history and real heroes?
For instance, Emilia Earhart was not the best pilot ever. She didn’t have any
special training. She was 7 years old when she built a roller coaster in her
backyard. SEVEN! She channeled that passion into her whole being.
We need to teach our kids the story behind the “story”.

Brad Meltzer has also written
books about Abraham Lincoln and Emilia Earhart, two more American heroes.
Have you heard the story about Abe Lincoln and the turtles? NO? Well, neither
had I – until I read Brad’s book! Sometimes it’s the little things that teach us
right from wrong.
Brad has new some children’s books coming out this year and early next year! I
am so excited about that!
Listen in as Brad talks about his passion for history and why it is so important
that our kids are taught from an early age about what makes America the greatest
nation in the world.

Title: Part 3 of 3 - The Real Rosa Parks
Topic: Book Review
Discussed by Brad Meltzer
with Brad Meltzer www.BradMeltzer.com
Brad Meltzer is a great story-teller. With his new
children’s book, “I am Rosa Parks”, he shows young girls and boys of
all ethnicities what a real hero looks like.
Listen in as Brad talks
about why he chose to right a children’s book about this wonderful lady.
