Part 1 of 2

Janice Dean “The Weather Machine” from Fox has written a terrific children’s book “Freddy the Frogcaster and the Terrible Tornado”. She will be at the Barnes and Nobles in The Woodlands TONIGHT, May 2, from 7-9 pm.

A little background: Janice grew up in Canada. She was always fascinated with storms, especially the big ice storms that would cripple the cities and towns for weeks at a time. Although she wanted to know the answer to “why” weather phenomenon occurred, instead of studying meteorology, she became a broadcaster and journalist! Janice worked as a radio DJ and was also able to present the weather part-time for a local TV station. So she had the best of both worlds! Listen in as she describes the “rest of the story” and how she became “The Weather Machine” at Fox.

In the next segment, Janice Dean discusses her new book, “Freddy the Frogcaster and the Terrible Tornado”. How old should your children be when you start explaining “bad weather”? What are the best ways to approach the subject? What kinds of weather are there? How should parents react to extreme weather so their children will remain calm?

BONUS: Janice Dean lived in Houston for a while and worked at 93Q and Sunny 99.1!

Title: Part 2 of 2 - Freddy the Frogcaster and the Terrible Tornado
Topic: Book Review

Janice Dean says, “People have asked me for book recommendations for their kids. As parents, we don’t know how to describe how a thunderstorm happens, or a hurricane, or tornado, or a flood.” After doing her own research, Janice discovered that really wasn’t much information available for parents to explain weather patterns to their children. So, she decided to do something about it!

Freddy the Frogcaster and the Terrible Tornado” is the fourth book in the series by Janice Dean “The Weather Machine”. You can learn more about the other three books here.  She believes that when your kids begin asking about weather is the perfect time to explain it! Don’t put it off because you aren’t sure about the answers. Use Google or YouTube – better yet, use her books with “Freddy the Frogcaster”!

Your kids will never even realize they are learning about science and weather while reading “Freddy the Frogcaster and the Terrible Tornado”. Come to the Barnes and Nobles in The Woodlands TONIGHT at 7 pm to meet Janice Dean “The Weather Machine” and get a copy of the book signed!
