Title: Recap of the Christmas Season
Topic: Christmas
Discussed by Meeke Addison
with Urban Family Talk (www.urbanfamilytalk.com)
Meeke Addison is the Director of Communications for Urban Family
Talk, a ministry division of the American Family Association. She
is also the co-host of “Airing the Addisons” with her husband Wil. She
is here today to give us a recap of the Christmas season. Many people who
celebrate Christmas and sing of Christ’s birth really have no idea what it
really means to be a Christian. Meeke says, “We have perfected the
commercialization of our Savior. We have been able to detach ourselves from his
mission and get googly-eyed.”
Even as a baby in the manger, Jesus was crying out to his Father in Heaven: “Just
one more for You!” As Christians, we must continue to remind the unsaved of
the real purpose of Jesus Christ’s mission on earth. It wasn’t to perform
miracles. It wasn’t to boast about being a perfect man. It wasn’t about the
disciples and the work they did in his name. Jesus came as a sacrificial lamb to
one day die on a cross for our sins.
Meeke believes that we are all put on this earth for a purpose – we all have a
specific mission to complete. “Every breath is yours on loan from God. There
is nothing you have done to deserve or secure it,” she says. We are truly
blessed beyond merit.
