Part 1 of 3
“I am convinced shared prosperity will revitalize and re-energize our neighborhood and our schools. That is what brought many of us here. That is what will bring us together, in working towards a stronger, safer community.” Dr. Steve Le believes these statements with his whole being. That is why he is running for Houston City Council, District F.
Dr. Steve Le is an immigrant from Vietnam. His family fled the country the day before Saigon fell in 1975. His parents worked hard to provide for their family and encouraged Steve to work even harder to fulfill his dreams. He didn’t speak any English when he arrived in the United States at age nine, yet he graduated at the top of his high school class! Now a physician, Steve and his wife, Jackie, devote time and money to several charities, including
Wings of Houston, a non-profit dedicated to helping orphans.
Steve desires to help Houstonians prosper and make a better life for themselves and their families. “Freedom isn’t free. Freedom is something that you have to fight for and nurture”, Steve says. He wants to help fight for you. Listen in to this and the next two segments with Steve as discusses his life experiences and his goals for Houston.

Growing up, Dr. Steve Le was different than most of his classmates.
He was smaller and talked “funny”. He was smart, though, and
that’s what helped him achieve his goal of becoming a doctor. One thing he is
still concerned about is bullying and gang activity. He encourages parents to
keep their children busy with activities in addition to schoolwork. If they’re
busy, they don’t have time to mess around! Parents also need to stay actively
involved in their child’s life, whether it is school related or not.
If Dr. Le is successful in his bid of Houston City Council, District F, he will
aim to ensure that funds for the Houston Police Force are actually used for that
purpose. More people are moving to Houston every day, yet the number of officers
is decreasing. Why? Because the city is nearly bankrupt! “The squeaky wheel
gets the grease,” Steve says. He wants to be that squeaky wheel and get
everyone else on board to start making changes in the city.

Why would Dr. Steve Le leave his flourishing medical practice to
pursue a thankless job on the Houston City Council? He has three
children ranging in age from 17-22. He wants to give them the same opportunities
he had growing up. “Houston is a great city,” he says. However, over
the last 40 years, he has noticed that, not only is the infrastructure
deteriorating, but so are the political and social environments.
There are several hot issues at stake during this year’s city election. The
number one issue on my radar, as host of the What’s UP Radio Program,
is HERO: the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance. HERO would allow
confused men who think they are women to use the women’s bathroom, locker room,
and changing room (think Macy’s at the mall). What are Dr. Steve Le’s thoughts
on this issue? Listen in!
Another issue of great debate is abortion. Life, to Dr. Le, is of the utmost
importance. He has dedicated his life to helping others. He holds a religious
belief on this issue: life begins at the moment of conception. He also vows to
never vote for any law which would give Planned Parenthood any
financial assistance.
