India's population is now exceeding 1.2 Billion. 350,000 are known as Dalits - the country's outcasts. In some parts of India, giving a Dalit a simple cup of water is punishable by death. Some leaders of Hopegivers International now sit in jail because of their desire to help the Dalits. 350 million men, women, and children are “untouchables" known as "Dalits” in India. This is a quarter of their population. The co-founder of Hope Givers and many of their local leaders are now in prison or under house arrest for the simple act of giving a cup of water in Jesus name to the Dalits of India. It is hard to believe that one of our major trading partners allows such treatment of its own people!
