Title: NAM to the Rescue!
Topic: Life After Harvey
Discussed by Brian Carr
with Northwest Assistance Ministries

After Hurricane Harvey, many individuals and families were housed in local hotels. Most have found their way back home or to other locations, but nearly 1,400 displaced flood victims are being evicted this week from area hotels.

Brian Carr, the Chief Advancement Officer with Northwest Assistance Ministries, has the details of who, what, where, when and why.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Who are the individuals being evicted?

What is causing their evictions?

When will this occur? NOTE: This interview was recorded prior to the deadline of Tuesday, May 1. ALSO NOTE: These people/families were only given a one week notice that they would need to find an alternative place to live.

Where will they go?

Will FEMA pay for an apartment in the interim?

Are the majority of people still displaced below or at the poverty level?

What happens if an individual/family cannot find an alternative place to live? Do they become homeless?

Has Northwest Assistance Ministry been involved with Hurricane Harvey relief from the beginning?

NAM touched more than 129,000 lives last year alone. Listen as Brian Carr discusses some of the programs and services NAM offers the citizens of Northwest Houston.
