Under current federal law, if a congressman or US senator is absent, except for illness of themselves or a family member, that are not to be paid for that day. This law has been and is currently being ignored and to add insult to injury, the US Senate now wants to repeal it so they can campaign or travel or do whatever and still get paid! Try telling your boss you want off with pay...
