Title: What Can We Expect from Our Health Care System?
Topic: Elder Care
Discussed by Ken Connor
with Center for a Just Society (www.aJustSociety.org)

Segment 1 of 2

Senior Tsunami.   Seniors now have many choices for their “end of life” care - a few being: moving to nursing home, in home healthcare, or staying with relatives (usually with an adult child or adult grandchild). What’s the best fit for you or your parents? Also discussed in this segment: What is the typical hospital stay for illness or after surgery for a senior adult? Are shorter stays better and safer - or just cheaper?

Title: Are Senior Adults Being Ignored?
Topic: Elder Care
Discussed by Ken Connor
with Center for a Just Society (www.aJustSociety.org)

Segment 2 of 2

Medical errors inside - and outside - the hospital are becoming all too common. Especially inside hospitals due to nurses “Alarm Fatigue”. What is this and what’s being done to correct it? And what about pharmaceutical companies? Will they ever truly be held accountable for the dangerous - and deadly - side effects of some of their “miracles cures”?

Title: We are on the threshold of a “Senior Tsunami”
Topic: Elder Care
Discussed by Ken Connor
with Center for a Just Society (www.aJustSociety.org)

The over 85 age group is the fastest growing age group in America. Many of us have aging parents, grandparents and love ones that are either currently in a nursing home or who may need a nursing home in the near future. Most are great but some have problems. Ken Connor joins us again today discussing the “Fairness in Nursing Home Arbitration Act of 2008 – in the Senate the bill number is S2838 and in the House, it’s HR 6126". Our US Senators and Congressmen need to hear from us on this issue. They all need to be co-sponsors of this important legislation.

Title: Embryo to Elderly – A Consistent Life Ethic
Topic: Elder Care
Discussed by Ken Connor
with Center for a Just Society (www.aJustSociety.org)

While many pro-life advocates are active in protecting life at its earliest stages, few are aware of the assaults that are perpetrated on the sanctity of life in long term care institutions in America. Ken Connor, the Chairman of the Center for a Just Society, helps us understand this injustice and what we should look for if we have a friend of loved one in a nursing home.
