Dan Hinde is a former Harris County District Court Judge. When he was on the bench, he handled an involuntary quarantine similar to what we are experiencing now. Today, he discusses what you need to know about your rights during an imposed quarantine.
Questions/Issues Discussed:
Can the government legally tell an entire community, city, state, or even nation to stay home and not leave?
Is the law different if a person has tested positive for the Coronavirus?
Can an employer who has traveled abroad force an employee to stay home? Can the employee sue?

Questions/Issues Discussed:
Can a Corona-positive person who does not want to self-quarantine demand a jury
trial? What actions can the government take to keep an infected person
quarantined?
How are the courts preparing for imposed quarantines? Dan recalls he
tuberculosis case he oversaw…
How would the jury/judge/others be medically protected if an infected person
insists on a jury trial?
Remember: You may not think you’ll be infected with the Coronavirus,
but someone you come in contact with could die from exposure and infection. Stay
home. Watch TV. Read books. Do puzzles. Homeschool your kids (and keep doing
it!) Order take-out or learn to cook a new dish. Go for a walk (keeping distance
from others!) And only go to the store for essential items.
