Title: Is Hell Empty?
Topic: Is Hell Empty?
Discussed by Jeff Walton
with Institute on Religion and Democracy www.theIRD.org

Part 1 of 2

“Hell is empty and we should have no concern about our eternal fate.” So says an elected Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Bishop.

Wow. This is unbelievable! Do others believe this, too?

Jeff Walton, Communications Manager and Anglican Program Director for the Institute on Religion & Democracy, discusses:

Are some protestant leaders now claiming that there are no souls in hell?

Does everyone go to heaven?

Who are these “protestant leaders”?

Do these protestant leaders teach that the Son of God came to seek and to save those who are lost? Or, do they teach that the death of Jesus on the cross saved everyone automatically?

Title: Part 2 of 2 - Is Hell Empty?
Topic: Is Hell Empty?
Discussed by Jeff Walton
with Institute on Religion and Democracy www.theIRD.org

Questions/Issues Discussed:

How should we, as Christians, respond to the claim that hell is empty? Jeff Walton has two suggestions…

Did Jesus acknowledge the existence of hell as a real place, with souls wailing for eternity?

Did God give us free will to either follow Him or to not follow Him?

Is hell empty today? Was hell empty yesterday? Will hell be empty tomorrow? Will hell be empty for all of eternity?

Everyone deserves the consequence of hell. Have you changed your destiny?

Title: Is Hell Empty?
Topic: Is Hell Empty?
Discussed by Pastor Ed Ethridge
with Champion Forest Baptist Church (www.ChampionForest.org)

Luke 19:10 “For the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost.”

Pastor Ed Ethridge continues with the conversation about a recent statement made by an elected Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Bishop: “Hell is empty and we should have no concern about our eternal fate.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Who is the Son of Man? Who was Jesus seeking? What does Jesus save us from?

In Luke 19:10, what does “lost” mean? What are we separated from?

Is hell empty? Pastor Ed asks this in response: “Why would there be a hell for no reason?

Does it take faith to believe in heaven and hell?

What does faith encompass?

Can someone be saved without a complete understanding what it means?

When someone confesses their sins and accepts Jesus Christ as their Savior, are they “saved forever”?

If you have questions about heaven, hell, and faith in Christ, please call Champion Forest Baptist Church  to speak with a pastor or licensed counselor. The phone number is 281.440.3800.
