Title: What in the World Can You and Only You Do?
Topic: Flourish
Discussed by Pastor David Fleming
with Champion Forest Baptist Church (www.ChampionForest.org)

Day 5

This week’s sermon is special because the kiddos joined the teens and adults in the worship service! Normally they have their own separate worship service, but occasionally they come in to “big church” with everyone else! And what a blessing it is! So, over the course of the week, you may hear Pastor David Fleming talk specifically to the younger crowd in the congregation…

The Scripture this week centers on Acts 9:10-19 and the focus is what YOU can do to further the Kingdom of God.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

4. Trust God’s Plan vs 15

Do you believe that God only has good plans for you? Remember: There is only one YOU that will ever be. And only YOU can do what you’re meant to do.

5. Walk in Obedience vs 17

What happens when you fully trust and obey God? Would Paul have changed if Ananias hadn’t obeyed God?

Final Thoughts:

Edward Kimball was a Sunday school teacher who made an impact on many, many lives. His obedience even reached Billy Graham! Who will change because of YOU?

Pastor David Fleming encourages you to visit em>Champion Forest Baptist Church in NW Houston this Sunday! CFBC has Life Groups classes (Sunday School) for all ages and walks of life, including Mark Lanier’s Biblical Literacy Class, as well as several service times and locations to choose from. Questions/Issues Discussed:

3. Face Your Fear with Faith vs 13

Does faith fill you or does fear? “God is the God of comfort, but He is not the God of the all-comfortable,” Pastor Fleming says. “God is not interested in making us comfortable. God is in the business of making us conformable.” Pastor Fleming uses a visual demonstration of a child learning to swim and jump off the side of the pool into their parent’s arms to explain faith>fear.

4. Trust God’s Plan vs 15

Is God’s plan for you secret? What was God’s response to Ananias’s fear?

Normally they have their own separate worship service, but occasionally they come in to “big church” with everyone else! And what a blessing it is! So, over the course of the week, you may hear Pastor David Fleming talk specifically to the younger crowd in the congregation…

The Scripture this week centers on Acts 9:10-19 and the focus is what YOU can do to further the Kingdom of God.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

2. Listen for Instructions vs 11
Why is God so specific in His instructions to us?
Do you believe that God has a plan and a will for every person? Does God still use people to accomplish His will and plan? You bet!
Are you listening for His instructions for you? Are you making yourself available to Him?

3. Face Your Fear with Faith vs 13
Sometimes fear is well-founded, but we must trust that God will remove that fear and give us courage.
Ananias knew who Saul was. He knew he was a bad, bad dude! Pastor Fleming says: “God is the God of comfort, but He is not the God of the all-comfortable.

Tune in tomorrow as he expands on this thought…

1. Be Available vs 10

Are you ready to go where God wants you to go? Pastor David reminds us that God will multiply what we make available with the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000…

Title: What’s it Worth to Finish Faithfully?
Topic: Flourish
Discussed by Pastor David Fleming
with Champion Forest Baptist Church (www.ChampionForest.org)

Day 4

Pastor Fleming continues the “Flourish” series this week with a look at Acts 20:17-25. This is Paul’s letter to the Elders, midway to his final journey. The sermon “What’s it Worth to Finish Faithfully” offers encouragement through trials and tribulations when we want to throw in the towel and say “enough is enough”. Will you finish the race?

Questions/Issues Discussed:

WE TAKE ANOTHER STEP BECAUSE:

2. We know the cost will be worth it

Did Paul know what would happen to him?

Are some things worth more than our own lives?

Do you “count it all joy” – even in the midst of trials?

Pastor Fleming reminds us that: “What God has for us is worth more than anything He will ever ask from us.

Day 5

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Paul was willing to change his plans, possessions, habits, comforts, health, friends, and freedom for Christ. Are you?

God won’t forget about you. God won’t leave you alone to face life alone. God won’t even give up on you when you turn your back on Him!

No one said following Christ would be easy-street. Do you have what it takes to go the distance and finish faithfully? What is Jesus worth to you?

Remember: The return is worth the investment.

When do we draw the line? When have we done enough? Why should we keep going?

Topic: Flourish
Discussed by Pastor David Fleming

Day 5

How are discipleship and stewardship connected? Why are our finances usually the last rung on the ladder of obedience?

This week, Senior Pastor David Fleming continues with the “Flourish” series with “A Flourishing Church Breaks Out”. The scripture passage is from Acts 8:1-8.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Final Thoughts:

1. Sharing the Gospel is our joy and responsibility
A healthy, flourishing, growing church is a Gospel-committed, Gospel-preaching and teaching, and Gospel-living and sharing church,” Pastor Fleming proclaims.

2. Go out to get the Word out.
We gather to prepare for the scatter.
The world is your mission field.

3. God is with us as we go.
He promised He would be. And God doesn’t break His promises.

If you truly want to experience God, it won’t happen in the church. It will happen outside the walls of the church.

WHEN YOU ARE WALKING WITH JESUS:
1. Expect Opposition
Why are we always so shocked when we face trials when we are following God in obedience?

Scripture References: John15:19-20; 1 Peter 4:12

2. Trust God Why do we doubt first and pray second?
Faith over fear wins every time.
Remember: God is faithful. Always.

3. Keep Moving Forward
How can God use trials for His glory?

Remember: The next step is the most important. br />

This week, Senior Pastor David Fleming continues with the “Flourish” series with “A Flourishing Church Breaks Out”. The scripture passage is from Acts 8:1-8.

Questions/Issues Discussed:

Many people have died for Christ. Would have the courage to give your life to further the Kingdom of God?

Have you ever known someone who was just out to get you? No matter what you do, you are never good enough. Their mission is to make your life miserable. This was how Saul treated every Christian. His mission was to kill them all.

What if there was a person like Saul in America today, ravaging the church with the full support of the government and military? It’s not here in our country…yet. But there are countries like this across the world – Christians who must worship in secret. If they are discovered, they will be killed. Would you have the courage to risk everything, including your life and the life of your family, to go to church?

Life with Jesus is not a vacation on a cruise ship. Pastor Fleming reminds us: “It’s a battleship. When you say yes to Jesus, you say no to the world.

How did the church in Acts attract attention?

Between Acts 1:8 to Acts 8:1, the church was completely different. How and what happened?

Pastor Fleming continues the new series “Flourish” with a look at the disciple’s and their devotion to their mission.

Scripture Reference: Acts 2:42-47

Questions/Issues Discussed:

What was the FREQUENCY of the disciple’s devotion?

How often did the disciples show their devotion to Jesus?

What was the FRUIT of the disciple’s devotion?
* Church growth
