Title: Ephesians
Topic: Our True Identity - Part 2
Discussed by Pastor David Fleming
with Champion Forest Baptist Church (www.ChampionForest.org)
Day 5
Last week, Pastor David Fleming talked about our true identity in Jesus. This week, he continues with more ways we can identify in Christ.
The first four ways to identify in Jesus are:
1. We are blessed by God vs 3
2. We are chosen to become vs 4
3. We are predestined to be adopted vs 5
4. We are trophies of His grace vs 6
Questions/Issues Discussed:
OUR TRUE IDENTITY: We are included in Christ
Ephesians 1:8
Why has God chosen to include us?
Pastor Fleming looks ahead to Ephesians 3:10 “His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms.”
Why do we keep salvation such a secret? Get out there and share it! Jesus didn’t die just for you; he died for everyone.
OUR TRUE IDENTITY: We are guaranteed in Christ
Ephesians 1:11
Are you living like Jesus’ name and reputation is on the line?
Final Thoughts: It’s not about how we do but who we are and who’s we are.

“It’s not about duty and obligation,”
Pastor Fleming says. “It’s about devotion and opportunity.”
The next time your kids ask if they HAVE to go to church, tell them no. Wait! What?! Listen in!
OUR TRUE IDENTITY: We are forgiven in Christ
Ephesians 1:7
Have you truly let go of your sin?
Who reminds you of your sin: Jesus or Satan?
Why does Paul use the word “lavish” in this verse?
Best quote from this segment: “Take out your grace scissors and cut the line that ties you to your past. Let. It. Go.”

OUR TRUE IDENTITY: We have been redeemed in Christ
Ephesians 1:7
What does redeem mean?
Is anyone easier to save than someone else?
Is the cost of sin the same for each person? HINT: Yep!
Pastor Fleming refers to Romans 6:16-18 – Lordship and discipleship are important, but they are not conditions of salvation…
What does Pastor Fleming mean by “root/fruit” and “first/next”? Tune in tomorrow for more on this…

Questions/Issues Discussed:
OUR TRUE IDENTITY: We are accepted in Christ - Ephesians 1:6
Do you deserve his acceptance?
Is grace about the recipient or the giver?
Why are we skeptical of His grace?
Are you trying too hard to show God that you deserve His acceptance?
Do many people try to earn God’s grace and acceptance with works?
When someone does something nice for you, Pastor Fleming recommends this response: “Just tell the person ‘thanks’ and go make more disciples!”
