Topic: Child Abuse
Discussed by Shannon Deitz
with Hopeful Hearts Ministry www.ShannonMDeitz.com
April is Child Abuse Prevention
Month. As if it wasn’t bad enough to be bullied and abused by your own parent,
the victim is also oftentimes shunned by family members and friends.
Sometimes the best way to help a victim of child abuse is to just listen.

Many victims of child or sexual abuse are afraid to speak out for fear of their
attacker, because most of the time the attacker is a family member or very close
friend.
Victims need to know they are not alone and have done nothing bad to deserve
this horrible treatment they suffer every day. What can parents tell their
children about what’s ok and what’s not ok?

On an average day in your life, as you take your children to school, gymnastics,
soccer, help them with homework and piano lessons, 5 children in America will
die from abuse or neglect. Most of those children are under the age of 4. My
heart just aches knowing this is happening in our own country.
How can you spot the signs of abuse in a child?
