Have you ever wondered why people shake hands upon greeting each other?
The custom began thousands of years ago to show others you were not carrying a weapon. But today, many of us may be carrying invisible weapons called viruses or other pathogens, so why the compulsion to connect hands?
Dr. Mark Bruce is an emergency room physician in Wisconsin. He is also the Ambassador to Belize and Canada for the
American College of Emergency Physicians.

Is the world over-reacting or under-reacting to the Covid-19 viral
Coronavirus outbreak?
Dr. Mark Bruce is an emergency room physician and the Ambassador to Belize and
Canada for the American College of Emergency Physicians.
Questions/Issues Discussed:
Is this whole thing overblown or are we looking at an epidemic or pandemic? What
does Dr. Bruce mean when he answers: “yes and no”?
We know that the virus originated in China. But where exactly? How? Was it
transmitted from human to human? Animal to human?
Why did it spread so quickly? How does the coronavirus differ from the flu? Is
it worse? The same? Or just different?
Should President Trump issue travel restrictions?
How can we be proactive? Dr. Bruce says “Do what your mama told you!”
Chicken soup, vitamin C, wash your hands, and stay home when you’re sick! It’s
as simple as that.
What demographic is most vulnerable to the coronavirus? What should medical
providers be doing?
