If a child or teenager was abused or injured at the hands of a staff member or volunteer, how would your church handle the aftermath? What if a gay couple requested to be married in your church? Is your church prepared for a legal battle?

We don’t want to think that something bad could happen on a church outing, such as a bus or van accident. No church is immune. Accidents happen all the time.

The National Center for Life and Liberty is dedicated to helping churches during these trying times. Attorney David Gibbs says churches must be prepared beforehand, though.

Make sure your pastors and leaders know about the upcoming seminars in Dallas and Houston on August 26th and August 28th (respectfully). Seminar times are from 9 am – 3:30 pm each day. Your church probably has a background checking system in place for volunteers and staff members – and that is great! But how does your church protect volunteers and staff members from false accusations or threats? If a pastor or counselor advices someone and the person ignores their advice and something tragic happens, that person could sue the pastor and the church!

If someone dies and leaves a portion of their estate to the church, the deceased’s relatives could sue the church for the property/money. Is your church ready for such a battle?

Whether your church has 100 members or 10,000, they must be prepared for every situation. Pass this information along to your pastor
